Corinna was always someone who loved the stars, and as such, perhaps it’s not too surprising that she ended up marrying a man whose name reminded her of the skies.

The name ‘Skye’ doesn’t actually have anything to do with the firmament, of course, and she knew as much, but she still always thought it was adorable even when times were rough.

And, yes, they were rough; they lived in a picturesque little town and didn’t have much money at all, but she tried to be happy with what they had. She tried to adapt to this life she wasn’t familiar with, and all of her love was given to their child – Orion, like the hunter in the stars.

But, as it often can happen, all of her efforts and all of her love weren’t enough, and although Orion was too young to fully understand it at the time, it was this roughness of their lives that took his mother from him before he even turned five.

The worst part? His father just moved on, as if it didn’t matter at all. Soon enough, he was with a new woman and having a new child, as if the family he had had never existed to begin with. Orion hated it, even if he was only five.

And, unfair of him as it may have been, this hatred was directed towards this new brother of his. Because his father always seemed to find a reason to be angry with him and wouldn’t even let him speak of his mother, because his step-mum never had a single kind word to say to him, and because ruslan skye was small and loud and whiny and took all the love and attention “their parents” had to give.

Even though it may not have been completely true, sometimes it really felt as if the moment his mother was gone, so was all the love there may have been for Orion at the Skye household.

Even now, looking back, there is little fondness in the way he speaks of his upbringing in Littleroot Town. How could it not be, when things only got worse and worse as years passed? How could it not be, when according to Orion himself, there were only a small handful of good things about his life at the town: the night skies, the pokémon his mother had left behind for him, and his friendship with leo del río, perhaps.

None of those things were enough to get him to stay, and one evening, soon after he graduated from high school and after one particularly bad fight, he just left. He never returned, he never looked back, he never spoke to his family again – at least not most of them, since even if only once, he did call Ruslan on his birthday.

Life on his own was much rougher, but it was also much better, and even now, after years have passed, Rye doesn't regret leaving.

Even if it was difficult.

Even if he had no money.
[break][break]
Even if he never got to do the things he always dreamt of.

Even if he had to join Team Rocket in order to survive.
[break][break]
Even if he did terrible things because that's what Team Rocket demanded from him.

Eventually, it got better.
[break][break]
He made a name for himself in the fashion industry as a photographer, he developed somewhat of an online following, and with these things came a certain amount of success. He lives comfortably, and he enjoys his life, but none of these things change how much he owes Team Rocket.

That's a debt that’s still being paid to this day.
