It was coincidence, she reasoned, that King was here at the same time she was. And it was possessiveness that convinced her to round him up before someone else did. Only one of which she would admit to.

But now she sits across from him in a private hot spring, pushing a floating cup of sake across the bubbling water. Her attention lingers only for a moment at a time, hidden behind steam and raised cups of drink.

Alcohol and poor judgement clouds her feelings, clouds her thoughts, leaves her numb. She craves physical touch, craves intimacy, craves company. It leaves her hollow, desperate to fill in the cracks with something temporary in the hopes that something, anything, was better than feeling nothing.

It is a selfish, terrible plea - but it is one that she finds herself indulging in anyway.

But she does not approach him. The temptation to make him chase her is too strong.

And then she sinks lower, sucking in a breath as the hot water rises above her chin, brushes her lips. It leaves her boiling, overstimulated, too damn hot.

But it was better than the surmounting emotions that she struggles to keep at bay. The pain is better than the lonliness and the desperation, the hunger to devour him.

She was going mad.

The previous night swims vividly in her thoughts behind closed lids. She breathes in and out, focused, concentrated, only for the water to shift around her as he approaches. When she opens her eyes, he is looming over her, waiting.

She exhales, expression strangely calm. He is close enough to touch, close enough to taste. His lips move but in the end, the only thing she hears is the beat of her heart.

It is undetectable if only because she is inebriated. She is sloppy, clumsy, hungry. Where she crashes against him with more force than may be necessary, he is far more gentle, far more deliberate.

He cups either side of her face, bringing her closer, deepening their kiss. To steady herself - she reasons - her hand presses against his chest. But this time her touch is softer, without that same rage she once had.

Eventually, reality sets in and she moves to pull away, almost recoiling.

"Is that what you wanted?"

She sounds bitter.

She digs her nails, not having fully retreated. The taste of him was familiar and had inspired a hunger. Though she'd recoiled originally, she'd only leaned back so far. His taunting or teasing- or maybe his honesty if it had been that only serves to encourage her.

Temptation sits at the forefront of her thought, electricity sparking from her fingertips at their close proximity. The warm water stings, the loneliness aches, the choice he offers her is too intense.
