Ollie hunted from below, while Braviary hunted from above. The red haired ranger was after Pokemon that can do a lot of status effects. Sleep seems to be the most useful, so that was his main goal. Back home, he never used much if any status effects...his Dragonite was mostly for battling and taking down scum. The muscle. Braviary also had some muscle, and provided better eyes in the air. Amazing how changing locations can change your view, or point out areas that you were severely lacking. Ollie walked around, nearly running into another man, seemingly looking a little lost. "Ah, sorry." Ollie apologized for nearly running over the guy. Before he could really say anything more, Bravariy screeched and dived down...

"oh shit! not the bird!"

thankfully, grimmsnarl's FALSE SURRENDER spikes out at the approaching snivy instead, catching it off guard. it lands on its back, fainted, and danny quickly tosses a pokeball at it out of guilt.

turning back to the stranger, he chuckles slightly.

"shit, sorry, bud! you scared me."

Bravairy lucked out, and didn't get hit by the Grimmsnarl, and was able to use Slash on a Dedenne. Which scurried off. The birb perched back on a tree limb. The other man caught a Snivy. The guy turned back to him, and apologized. "Oh, you're good. This place is kinda thick, and I nearly ran over you first. I'm Ollie, you?" The red head was fairly friendly, if cautious. Hoenn was supposed to be pretty well infiltrated by Rocket. And who knows if this guy was one of them.

Still, he wasn't going to judge right off the bat. Oliver's Bravairy chirped a hello at the three below. Then the bird went back to keeping an open eye out for things. The bird might not be as powerful as his Dragonite, but he had better eyes and was, generally speaking, more thorough than his dragon. Still, the hunt was still on.

polite as his mother raised him right, he extended his hand over, offering a friendly handshake or a bro hug if that was what ollie preferred.

"wait...do you hear that?"

it sounded like something was cooking. he turned over his shoulder just in time to see a SEED BOMB being thrown their way.

"grimster!"

the grimmsnarl was quick to move, leaping like a secret service agent would for their president. the SEED BOMB explodes against grimmsnarl's chest, scorching.

but grimmsnarl was definitely not out. sighing, he rose to his feet and offered a FALSE SURRENDER only for a pokeball to be thrown after.

"phew...good save."

The guy took things in stride, and introduced himself as Danny. He was about to give the guy a return saying and shake the offered hand when some strange noise was going on. Brave screeched in warning, just as a Seed Bomb was thrown. The guy's Grimmsnarl took the hit, and attacked the Simisage. And a thrown Pokeball. His Bravairy screeched and nodded in a direction. Looking in the direction, a Roserade pranced by, took notice, and ran away. He let it go.

Laughing a little, Ollie offered his hand again for a shake. "Nice to meet you. Out for a walk or actively hunting? I'm on the lookout for something that can inflict status conditions. And a lot of various affects." It would make him better at handling some Poke problems. And potentially a lot more with other duties. Some flexibility was good, in more ways than one.

[attr="class","danny"]finally, once the chaos dies down, he extends his hand back out again, accepting the handshake with a smile.

"i'd say a bit of both? just out here training, really, but if something cool shows up i wouldn't mind catching it."

is a magnemite cool? probably, depending on who he asked.

but he knew a certain sucker (Lulu Flint) would pay a hefty price for this zappy boy.

so grimmsnarl is quick to close the distance and even quicker to end the battle with swift POWER-UP PUNCHES.

He got the handshake. Danny didn't seem really committed for something in specific. Just something cool. And he was just out here for a walk and a little hunting. Just kind of enjoying the day to him. They soon find a Magnemite. The dark haired man went after it. He was on quite a roll right now. Ollie was a bit more picky. Danny pointed out a Ferrothorn. Tanky, but no knowledge on status conditions. "They can't. At least not the kind I want. I already have a Shieldon, so not really looking for something like that." He did have his Dragonite with him, so it certainly wouldn't be a problem if it did attack. "Something that can put things to sleep, preferably en mass. Either with Sing or Sleep Powder. Most grass types I thought could do that." He continued on. He wasn't going for it...no matter how cool it is.

he points off to the side, past the luxray that CHARGES towards them. grimmsnarl jumps into action, POWER-UP PUNCHING into its side to take it off and away. a few more SPIRIT BREAKS, and down it goes.

"Yeah, I agree. Brave, use Slash." Ollie spotted the Breloom about the same time as Danny did. The other man had recommended the Pokemon, while he himself took on the Luxray that was closer. The bird dived down and slashed at the grass/fighting type. The Pokemon saw Brave, and dodged it, then attempted a Sky Uppercut. While it did hit and pushed Brave back, he was far from done. "Use Sky Attack." The bird started to gather energy. The mushroom dinosaur looking Pokemon used Leech Seed, which landed in Brave's feathers. All though the vines did come out and wrapped around Brave, it didn't impede his movement. When Bravarairy was ready, he glowed yellow and dived at Breloom, slamming it head on. The wild Pokemon slammed through a tree, but was ready to be caught. Oliver threw a pokeball at it, and hoped for the best. He didn't have much luck here, but maybe this will fill the niche he needed.
