The familiar sound of fast flapping wings of a certain species made Ollie look up to see Josh and his own Dragonite. Taimet? Tiamet? Something like that. The duo was approaching the red headed punk. Giving a wave as he drank his milkshake, Josh exclaimed his name. Setting down his sugary drink, Oliver spoke as his Dragonite waved at the duo goofily. "Yo! It has been a bit. What's been going on with you?" He hadn't seen Josh at Sootopolis, but that didn't mean anything either. The battle took place in such a large area that they easily could have missed each other. Assuming the gym leader was even there. A waitress came by to get the dark haired man's order if he wanted anything, along with his own Dragonite's.

With the master of speed, surely he had heard a lot more about what's going on than Oliver...right? Seemed like the most appropriate person to ask about what's been going on. Zipping around everywhere, surely Josh had some good info to share. And maybe even some insights about a possible counter-attack.


Josh Devlin

Oliver wasn't entirely happy with the outcome of the latest battles. Mossdeep was successfully defended, Sootopolis a mixed bag, and Petalburg lost. A fairly even exchange. And still no word on a couple of lingering questions about other legendaries or the strange cat like telepathic Pokemon.  Also, the giant Regirock and the three toxic chain Pokemon were a concern. Sure, the Regirock did go back to normal, but it was also in Rocket's hands. Kanto's Rockets being here was not a good sign. They were ruthless. And needed to pour over confirmed reports over who all was here. The red headed punk wasn't sure if there was a plan for a counterattack somewhere. Or if there was another way he could throw some weight around.

Sadly, he was relegated to delivering supplies and such. This was a huge annoyance. Sure, his Dragonite was obnoxiously fast, and they were well used to similar operations, but he couldn't help but feel like his talents were being a little bit wasted. Why wasn't he in Oldale Town to skirmash with Rocket? He knew well that logistics often won wars more often than not, and maybe he will be reassigned to the front when they were ready, or Rocket made another move. Right now, he was resting at a cafe in Mauville, with his best buddy of a dragon next to him, slurping on a treat of his own. He really wanted to start trading notes with people, and find out more about what's going on...

Josh Devlin

The Dyna Tree was heavily damaged, enough that the Xerneas Tree used up all its power to keep it alive. And was dying. Robbing Rocket of another Legendary and Avatar helped a lot in the long run, but this fight still wasn't over! Sharpedo returned to his side to help stabilize him due to the shifting waves. Turning around, he had a front row seat to the two behemoths fighting for dominance! For the first time in his life Oliver felt some degree of fear. What snapped him out of his stupor was seeing freya morningstar getting eaten by the whale. That...wasn't good. But there was a chance that she was still alive, just needed help to get out of there. But that wasn't going to happen with attacks coming towards it! Even with ana fell jumping onto the beast, there was something else to be done.

"Buddy, you're gonna be used as a surfboard for a moment." Sharpedo nuzzled him as if to say that it was fine. Releasing Alakazam, who stood on Sharpedo, Oliver gave some orders. "Alakazam, use Psychic, redirect those attacks away from Kyogre, but not towards any civilians!" The psychic type nodded and closed his eyes, glowing purple, attempting to redirect both the Shadow Rave from below that they could barely see and the Thunder from above away from Kyogre. Dangerious as it was, Oliver started to swim towards the beast, with Sharpedo pulling double duty as a platform and swimming buddy.

TLDR
Bears witness to the Xerneas Tree dying, preventing Rocket from having another legendary.
Sees the battle between Rayquaza and Kyogre.
Sees the whale swallow freya morningstar. And ana fell jumping onto the thing.
In Ana Fell's defense, releases Alakazam, using Sharpedo as a platform.

Dragonite punches the Glacial Spear, weakening it. Even so, he still took the brunt of it, with only help from paxton concordas's Mega Mawhile. Hurt and exhausted, it was time for the big guy to rest and let the others assist. Hearing the warning, Oliver rushes towards the upper ledge, hoping to parkour his way up. Too slow! Swept up, he managed to release Sharpedo in time, going with the flow more into the crater. Towards the Dyna Tree. Bearing witness to Gwyar Wledig's Z-move on the tree, he noticed the gouge in the tree's trunk. Pointing at, the shark knew what to do.

Using his Speed Boost ability, Sharpedo quickly moved to take advantage of it. Being underwater helped as well. Once close, Oliver let go of his aquatic buddy, surfacing near Gwyar. But his shark glowed blue, and used Liquidation on the tree, aiming for the weak point!

TLDR
Returns hurt Dragonite.
Hears paxton concordas's warning, still gets swept up.

While the Hyper Beam helped with taking care of the Dyna Tree, Oliver looked around to see who all he can help. There was a lovely older lady that was trying to get up the ledge, a few people also trying to help from above. The red haired ranger ran up to her and assisted. Even though she cried in pain at being pulled up, she still thanked Oliver for the assistance. With orders from him to continue going to higher ground, Oliver ran back to Dragonite. That was where things took a turn for the worse. The Calyrex threw an icy lance at them. Dragonite, even though he was still recharging from using his strongest attack, charged up a Fire Punch. His Multiscale may help him take the hit too.

But the waters were also rising. With a bit of assistance, he was able to get a couple of other people up on the next ledge. But then he dropped down to return his buddy after the Dragon dealt with the Glacial Lance. It was then that the waters surged up and swept him away! Oliver was prepared, however, releasing his Sharpedo, one of the first pokemon he caught here in Hoenn. With the help of the shark, the duo swam under the waves down to the next level, below the fighting. He did hear the orders...wasn't that what they were all doing anyways? When they weren't fending off Rockets, they were helping civilians. Sounded like the big bossman had some time on his hands that could be better spent elsewhere...

Dragonite recharges for a bit, but has to use Fire Punch to block the Glacial Lance. Fire Punch is weaker than normal due to still recharging. Hopefully Multiscale helps it?
Dragonite is returned afterwards.

The Hurricane paved the way to his invasion. After that initial strike, all he saw was civilians. Some looked at him in horror. The look made him wonder who was screwing up. Further ahead of him was a battle going. Instead, he headed towards the tree. Seeing the rising waters, he had Dragonite go down, and immediately started helping civilians get up on higher ground. Again, with help from his trusty dragon. Then he heard over the radio Melody Miro's command. The tree was right there...maybe best for a ranged attack at this point. Especially with no one nearby. "Dragonite, use Hyper Beam on the Dyna Tree. Try to take it down with one shot!"

Sure, Calyrex might jump in front, but that may just open it up to someone else's attack. Hyper Beam was Dragonite's strongest move, but it also wasn't without its drawbacks. Opening his mouth, the orange dragon charged up a yellow-orange ball of energy, then fired it at the Dyna Tree, hoping it would topple the thing in one shot!

With the opening to retreat, and then assault again, Oliver had to raid the ship for anything he can use for a makeshift napsack. He had his baton and his taser, first aid kit for both Pokemon and humans, but that was it. And  most of the former was already used on a Phione that got caught up in his and Laurence Anderson's earlier skirmash with two Rockets. Finally finding some things that'll work, and putting it together, Oliver nestled the little fella inside it while it rested and the medicine to take effect. He still had orders to follow. And Kyogre wasn't waiting.

Hopping onto his Dragonite, it was time for the main part of the assault. From the positioning, it was a good thing that he focused on the Stonjourner formation. With a couple flaps of his tiny wings, the ranger and his dragon was already hundreds of feet into the air. The duo zoomed towards the city, on the west side of the hole that the legendary created. Almost immediately after appearing before the city, he came under assault. The punk ranger's Dragonite unleashed his Hurricane attack to try to blow the attacks away and burst through the defensive line.

NOTES/COMMENTS: More Proving himself to be worthy of a Promotion? Potential Mewtwo plots? Phione still with him, but not battle ready, so potentially him protecting it while following orders/assaulting Sootopolis?

Instead of the Greninja being Thunder Punched, the Rocket threw himself in the way while returning it. Dragonite hit him instead. Well, that was one Rocket that'd be hurting for a long while. With water up to his waist, he had Dragalge come to him and help him out toward the Rockets' initial battle line, since it was higher ground. He still sprayed a Potion on Phione, who was calming down. In the meantime, he had his poisonous dragon use Smokescreen to help cover Dragonite, now that he was close enough. And it was a good thing too, hearing the next command.

Dragonite had avoided the Glare thanks to the Smokescreen, and rushed up towards the flying Corviknight and its riders. He took the Power Trip for the Metagross, and used Aqua Tail in a spin to knock both the rider and their knocked out Corviknight away. Then the flying dragon zoomed towards the Metagross and its rider to assist in setting them back up or just do an outright transfer. Both of them got a good view of the leviathan heading towards Sootopolis now. And looking like it was ready to attack.

TLDR
Dragalge helps Oliver, also spewing out Smokescreen to help Dragonite.
Dragonite avoids the Glare. Moves on towards Rowan.
Takes the Power Trip, uses Aqua Tail to double tap Corviknight and send it and Rowan away.

Breloom had gotten close to the Greninja and hit it hard. But the Rocket behind it had other ideas. The frog used Lick to bind his mushroom kangaroo, and then one of the Stonjourner used Self-Destruct! The resulting explosion also sort of ruined their line in a way, or at the least, took down one Stonjourner that was defending the rest. Ollie saw Breloom fly out of the smoke and dust, landing at his feet, knocked out, but alive. He was sure the attack also knocked out the guy's Geninja too. Returned his problem child, another Pokemon hit his head. Dragalge, worried about the opportunity, covered Oliver with another Hydro Pump at the other Stonjourner, hoping to also just finish off the line.

Standing up, the red head saw a Phione! It was hurt too, badly. Likely from the Self-Destruct. Using a potion, he sprayed the little fella. Then cradled it as it looked at him with pleading eyes. Of course something like this would happen. Much as he would like to pummel Team Rocket, his responsibility was also to the surrounding Pokemon. Glaring at the guy, he started to back off, but not without unleashing his ace. Dragonite came out, complete with a flying harness. That's when he saw that the Geninja wasn't taken down. Well then..."Dragonite, we need to back off for now, we have an injured buddy. Try to take down that Greninja, then help Anderson!" With a nod, the Dragonite flapped his wings lightly once, then again much harder with a fist engulfed in lightning. In an instant, the dragon was in Greninja's face, swinging a Thunder Punch at it!

While he doubted an extra 142 lbs. would make much of a difference to a Metagross, the lack of handholds and unfamiliarity stopped him from taking Anderson up on the offer. Especially in a combat situation. And soon enough, Laurance got occupied by a Corvinight user. As the wind started to whip up, blowing the mist away, Oliver spotted an Empoleon taking advantage of the Stonjournors' Power Spot, and used Hydro Pump on his own Dragalge. Luckily, the Double Teams were paying off. But now there was significantly fewer as Dragalge's own Hydro Pumps tore into more of the Stonjourner. The punk ranger tossed another pokeball, revealing Breloom.

His problem child didn't need any instructions as he darted forward. His main opponent had their own Stonjourner covering for the others with Wide Guard. Very well, maybe a concentrated attack from Breloom will end that. Though both Breloom and Oliver had to do some dancing to avoid the Rock Slides, the remaining Dragalge clones soon vanished under the onslaught. Then came the Dark Pulse. "Dynamic Punch!" The kangaroo mushroom jumped in front of the dark beam of energy, and punched it with a glowing fist, sending it away. Oliver felt the water lapping at the backs of his feet. The water...was rising. That wasn't too surprising really. They continued to charge, but Oliver noticed the mark on Breloom's fist. Despite the type advantage. He doubted there was anyting to blame besides the fact that Stonjourner's ability was brutal in team fights like this.

TLDR
Dragalge uses Hydro Pump to take down more Stonjourner. Gets stopped by Wide Guard.

Oliver had responded with a couple of his own battles. "I'd taken part of the war in Johto by Blackthorn, and I was at Mt. Pyre during Meteno. I'm ready for this." He didn't sound overly confident, but also not terrified or anything. Just experienced and knows what to expect. "I do, but that fog isn't going to last long in this weather. The wind is going to pick up any time." It looked Pokemon made. Even if the wind doesn't scatter it, it was going to thin out pretty quickly. Then came the attack and beached ship, and as stated, braced for impact, and got on the beach.

Dragalge nailed two of the Stonjourner, taking out chunks out of them. The damn things had a unique ability for teamwork. He did notice Lars on his Metagross's head. "Any prepared defenses would include taking down flyers. That time as passed. I can be bait if you can do something about those other Stonjourners." Then came the barrage of Rock Throws. "Double Team, and let's go!" The dragon created several clones of itself to avoid the mass of rocks thrown their way. They may see a couple dozen Dragalge moving through the mist, along with Oliver. Out in the open wasn't a good idea, normally. But at the same time, if he could hold their attention, maybe Lars can do something about those other Stonjourner...

At this point, Oliver wasn't a stranger to being on a boat. His partner on this part of the assault was Lars Anderson, an elite ranger. The job was to escort Kyogre back to the Origin Cave in Sootopolis City. The takeover of which was why Johto had sent him to assist in any way. And it had been interesting. Ollie had a balanced and interesting team this time round, headed by his ace, a Dragonite. The storm also made the waters rough, and the approaching fortress more intimidating. The cadet wasn't scared though. He'd faced off against Rocket back in Johto, fended off some Rocket intent on sinking or destroying a ship, he was on Mt. Pyre during Meteno where he faced off against Declan Walsh himself, with assistance from Gwayr, and met with the mysterious psychic cat like pokemon that can absorb and spit out other Pokemon. He could handle this. Though the red and black haired man also wanted to fly.

The ship rocked and soon a loud screeching bang could be heard. Rocket had prepared well with Stonjourner formations. They ended up crashing onto the beach, Oliver and others having had enough time to brace for impact. Rushing out the door and jumping from the ship, he let out Dragalge, only for him to be accosted by Stealth Rocks. That...made sense. Still, his dragon and poison type took the hit, and it got mad. And they needed to make a gap in enemy lines! "Hydro Pump!" The odd looking purple Pokemon blasted water like a firehose at the Stonjounor line, hoping to knock out several in a single blast or line. If it wasn't so windy, he'd probably go for a different attack. But if nothing else, he adapted well.
