born in secrecy, you were never really considered anything other than a means to an end. that's what your mother believed. you were her ticket to fortune. whether it was a stroke of luck or by design, you would be the reason she got to live the life she desired. or so she thought. in secret you were locked away from prying eyes. things worked out the way your mother intended for them to, for a while. that was until something changed in daddy dearest. suddenly he wasn't the same anymore and suddenly mother was disposable. no longer putting up with her nonsense, your father cut her off. enraged your mother lashed out. at first on you, hoping it would change your father's actions. you had no idea what you had done to deserve this. you'd always done as you were told. when your father heard of this he was furious. once again, not getting the reaction she wanted, your mother was fed up and decided to move on. she didn't need him when she could find another more willing. and you? well, you were no longer of any use to her so she left you behind as well. terrified and heartbroken, you feared your father would do the same. he'd always treated you well but you had always been in your mother's care. now that she was gone what did that mean for you?[break][break]

surprisingly, your father stepped in to do the job your mother could not. in fact, he was much better at caring for you than she ever was. perhaps the difference was because he actually cared. still, there was one thing odd. the secret. you. you were still hidden from prying eyes. special procedures had to be made to make sure you remained both hidden and a secret. you always knew you had brothers. you saw them sometimes when you were supposed to be hiding, supposed to be behaving yourself. you would ask about them often but your father would give your short answers or try to change to the subject. promises were never ending. one day you would get to meet them. one day you wouldn't have to hide anymore. one day....[break][break]

you stopped pestering him about when that day would be eventually. after all, you didn't want to make him angry. soon they moved out of the house and it was just you and your father. there was a bit more freedom, though occasionally a stray visitor would come by and you would have to hide again. you learned plenty during this time. from math, history, to even political things like how the league was a corrupt machine and how rocket were the misunderstood heroes of today. you didn't really understand much about that last part but it seemed your father really wanted you to believe rocket were the good guys. so why wouldn't you believe him?[break][break]

the day would come when your father finally felt ready to release his protective hold over you. you could be free. free to experience the life you always wanted. free to search for your family. but now that you had that freedom you were terrified. what if they hated you? what if this life wasn't everything you thought it would be.
