"There really isn't!" Luka insisted. "I promise!" Andres wasn't wrong- she was dense. Quick to fall for others and too oblivious to notice if her feelings were ever returned. Most often they weren't. Her crushes were often fleeting- a stranger paying her a compliment, a kind store clerk telling her to grab an umbrella because it was supposed to rain. People she'd likely never meet again, and who never gave her more than a passing thought.

There were some that stuck of course, with people she ran into more often. Again, she never talked about it, even though her flushing face constantly threatened to give her away. But she'd hate to risk a friendship based on her silly romantic whims. And so her cartwheel heart kept turning, with nowhere to settle.

"I'm...I'm not a kid, Andres!" Her face went beet red again. "Even if...e-even if there is, I'm not telling!"

It was very tempting to sink back into the spring again, but she stopped with her head halfway underwater. Andres had a date?

Or at least, someone he wanted to ask. Honestly, she was surprised. Not that he could find a date, because she was sure Andres was good at that. But he sounded so serious about it!

"That's...that sounds nice," she mumbled, biting her lip. "I'm sure whoever you ask will say yes in a heartbeat."

Andres sucked his teeth in disappointment. If he was offer there, he would’ve tickled the information out of her. That always seemed to work with his siblings. “Boo~! You’re no fun!” he returned, a mild worry passing over him. He couldn’t gauge her properly when they were separated like this. He hoped he hadn’t hit a nerve or anything, but there had been something in the way she said she had no prospects that sort of…irked him. “Is it really that silly to assume, a pretty young lady wouldn’t have someone in line?” [break][break]

“Ughhhhh!! Luka! Tell meeee!” the blonde complained loudly. After a beat he added, “Pwease?” in a tone that indicated he was probably trying to flash some sort of puppy eyes at her. “Chuchi back me up on this!” he shouted. The Eevee who had closed her eyes to rest perked up for a moment glancing around before squinting at the wall and putting her head back down. She wasn’t helping without payment. [break][break]

She got a little quieter, and Andres was tempted once more to check over the partition. Chuchi was there though, she’d take care of it. Whatever it was. “Aaah~ That’s where I sort of think you’re wrong…or well half wrong, chulita.” He said with a loud sigh turning the conversation back to him. arthur finnian vanderbilt was…well he was hard to read when he wanted to be. Andres thought he was pretty in tune with people, but Artie eluded him. It almost made him nervous, but then again, they weren’t anything special. The nerves there more so stemmed from if something like this would scare him off. He really liked the hook ups after all. Andres hadn’t hit someone that cute in months. Andres, FOCUS. “You see, even I have dating trouble from time to time~” [break][break]

Chuchi, meanwhile, looked over at Luka staring intently as she decided what to do before carefully putting a paw on the top of her head.

"It's not that silly, it's just— " It's impossible for me. But Luka didn't finish the thought, letting it drift away like a wisp of vapor on the surface of the spring.

"Well, never mind! Never mind! A-and don't try to get Chuchi to do your dirty work!" She pouted and scratched the Eevee under her chin, trying to secure herself in the Pokemon's favor. "So unfair..." She spoke in a half-whisper now, surely too low for Andres to hear. Luka herself wasn't sure what she was referring to, but she felt a certain throb of loneliness from her side of the pool.

But that was a her problem. And Luka had never once put her problems in front of anyone else's. So as soon as Andres lamented her own troubles, her focus was only on him. "If it's love troubles, I don't mind helping out, you know!" Her chest felt tight, a stinging sort of throb behind her ribs. Toffee cooed over at her in concern, but she just smiled softly and patted his head. "Seriously! You, um, deserve someone really great, monsieur. S-so if you ever need someone to talk to..."

She’s being silly, but not in the self aware kind of way, and Andres felt the need to proceed but he didn’t want to upset her either. Maybe he shouldn’t have brought this up at all. They could’ve gone together as friends, but he’d rally thought she’d been asked out or at the very least asked someone out in turn. Chuchi arched her head up cooing at the affection but once that was done with, she continued to stare at Luka. Wide eyes all seeing, all knowing. Or at least they gave off that impression as she stopped needing to blink for a minute or two. “Buiii…” the normal type said gently, headbutting her on the shoulder before sitting back on her haunches and patting the girl’s head with one of her paws. With Andres, she knew exactly when to push him and when to comfort him. [break][break]

With Luka, it’s a little tougher to read since she hadn’t spent that much time with her, but its obvious something’s amiss. Andres smiled to himself as he heard water moving and Luka seemingly doubling down on her offer to help him. “Much appreciated, Lukita. I guess I have been lacking a confidant since I moved to Hoenn…” Most of his friends were off in other places. And while he felt himself the social guy, none of the people he’d met really qualified as someone he could be vulnerable with. He dind’t like being vulnerable, but even when he thought his life was great and his job was good, he had insecurities pop up from time to time. “Well, the feeling is mutual. I’m really good at listening~ Not so much at the advice part. You know, experience and all that.” He said with a laugh. He did have a plethora of romantic experience but long-term relationships? A mystery. It was lucky he even had friends, since he tended to sleep with most people he communicated with. “Chuchi’s also really good at dealing with problems. Anyone ever bother you and I’ll let her out. She’ll chase them off easily.” He added as the Eevee let out a couple barks in agreement, her tail wagging excitedly. “You have my number Luka, reach out anytime you like. Our services are free of charge.” Andres added trying to lighten up the mood a bit.

Chuchi really was too sweet! Luka giggled as a paw landed on her face, and soon endeavored to give the Eevee all manner of pets and sweet little kisses. It worked out for both of them: attention for Chuchi, a distraction for her. And hopefully, all the smiles and friendly giggles would distract Chuchi from noticing anything off. Luka's countenance was unbreakable when she wanted it to be; a blithely happy mask that she'd honed to perfection over the years.

Because Luka knew exactly what she was. A pretty little doll, a creature who held worth solely for the entertainment of others. Someone who was fun to play with up to a point, and then put back on a shelf and forgotten once the novelty wore off.

She didn't mind it. As long as her meagre existence was enough to brighten the life of another, she was content. Any feelings on the contrary were quickly shoved down and forgotten, abandoned in the altruistic desire to put others' needs before her own.

"I'm really sorry you feel that way," she said, her tone genuine and soft. It was still hard to believe that Andres of all people would suffer from self doubt, but she was hardly the type to call him on it. "And thank you for the offer! I'll definitely take you up on that if you ever need it!" She wouldn't. No one wanted a doll that came with baggage. But Luka found it incredibly kind of Andres to offer at all, which only made the slight ache in her chest feel worse.

She sighed softly, leaning against the edge of the spring while still idly petting Chuchi. And then she jumped as the water began to slowly increase in temperature, hotter than it had been even with Chuchi's mischeif! Luka tried to endure it but ended up hoisting herself out of the spring, perching on the side. The cool air pricked at her bare skin, and she shivered despite the heat steaming off the water.

"Oh, gosh! I-is it getting warmer on your side too?"

The Eevee yipped happily nuzzling into Luka when she let her, tail wagging excitedly at the attention. As long as the girl was happy, she was happy. That’s what she was there for. Besides, her success rate was a bit higher than Andres’ who tended to botch things up by speaking too bluntly on certain things. “Ah its fine~” The blonde said waving her concern off. When he couldn’t confide in anyone, he confided in Chuchi or his other teammates. When it was too much to talk out, he’d work it out. Andres tended to spend hours in the gym when he was upset trying to work out his issues on a machine. It usually worked. At the very least it made sure when he got home, he’d knock out easily enough. [break][break]

The steam seemed to increase, billowing upwards into the cold sky. Andres sat in the water for a moment before the water began to almost bubble and scald his skin. “Heyhey HEY!” he yelped as he splashed wildly, jumping out of the shallow pool. His skin was red from the heat and he was fanning himself as he moved away from the thick layer of steam rising off of it. “It is!” he called back out, carefully walking around the pool and hugging himself. The quick relief had turned into a uncomfortable cold as he drifted farther from the hot spring. “Chuchi what did you do!?” he shouted over the partition. [break][break]

The Eevee hadn’t done anything. She instead dashed over to the little Togepi, shepherding the floating pokemon closer to the edge and nudging him away form the intense steam before he ended up becoming just a soft-boiled egg. “BUI!!!” She screeched over at Andres in protest after helping Toffee to safety. “It’s like someone flushed every toiler in the facility at once.” Andres added, now leaning over on the partition and watching the steam.

Luka was just about to reach over and pluck Toffee out of the water, but Chuchi was faster. The woman breathed a sigh of relief as soon as her baby was out of harms way, though she still plucked him out of his tub and checked him all over, fussing and fretting before finally deciding he was just fine. However, he was a little teary-eyed at the sudden commotion and warm steam. But a few moments of consoling and gentle pets was enough to calm him down, and Toffee settled happily back in his tub- though now it remained outside the water.

Next, Luka checked over Chuchi as well. Hopefully the Eevee wouldn't mind Luka scooping her up (with a little grunt of exertion- goodness was she heavy!) and checking her all over for any burns. "Chuchi didn't do anything!" she called back, setting Chuchi down again. "I'm not sure what happened..."

She jolted as she heard a light bump against the partition, but didn't see Andres when she glanced over. Even so, she leaned over and pulled a towel closer to her, just in case. Luka dipped a toe in the water, but it still seemed just as hot. She pursed her lips. "Are you okay over there?" she asked, recalling how frantically Andres had been splashing about. But she couldn't help adding a little levity to the situation. "I guess monsieur Andres can't handle the heat, huh Chuchu?"

Andres tilted his head to the side as Luka called back over the partition. She sounded alright and…Chuchi wasn’t to blame. “Alright…if you say so!” He replied though he was still a little apprehensive now that he didn’t have Chuchi within eyesight. She tended to be reckless because she bounced back form matches rather easily. And while, he and her had done some risky maneuvers for the sake of battle…that was different to stuff like this. At least matches had parameters to keep pokemon suffering severe injuries. He didn’t have the same protections for her outside of the arena. [break][break]

“Hopefully it goes away soon…I don’t wanna catch a cold here.” He said with a laugh. As Luka teased him Chuchi barked in agreement settling next to Luka and Toffee. She offered the baby pokemon a light nuzzling when she able to assure him everything was alright. Andres, meanwhile, seemed offended at the insinuation. “Me? Adverse to the heat?!” He’s indignant. “Naw, it’s more like I want my huevos to stay intact instead of hardboiled.” He complained. “Can’t have kids if all the little swimmers are dead!” he added, crossing his arms as he moved back towards his hot spring and crouched down ready to stick his hand in. It still hurt but not as much. Though his hand was fine he didn’t think getting back in would be prudent. “I dare you to go out to a spicy dinner with me and say that again.” He added with a grin. Luka didn’t seem like the type that could tolerate spicy food. He’d have her beat then.

"It's not that cold!" Luka called back. "It's steamy enough over here to keep me warm, anyways." She hummed, idly petting Chuchi's damp fur. "But if you want...I can send Chuchi back over, to warm you up? Or would something else help?"

Maybe a towel. Luka wasn't sure if Andres had any with him- a thought that made her blush all over again. Ugh!

She stuck her foot back into the water, both to check the temperature and to try and ignore whatever nonsense Andres was spouting now. Quite frankly, she didn't want to know about his eggs! Or whatever else he was spouting off! The water was still a bit too hot, but not as unbearable. Luka tentatively stuck both feet in, kicking them a bit to get herself reacclimated to the temperature.

"That's nice!" she replied vaguely, because she wasn't going to talk any more about his 'swimmers'. And then, "Spicy food is fine!" she agreed, kicking the water up once again. She was quite sure she'd lose to Andres in that regard...though she could tolerate a decent amount of spice, it wasn't her favorite. But she'd never pass up an opportunity to spend time with a friend when one was presented to her.

"I can totally outspice you! I'll be...soooo spicy!" She punctuated her declaration with another swift kicking of water. The particulars of what she was saying went right over her head. "The water is getting better, by the way! Or, um, I think it is! I'm getting back in!"

Andres shivered, slowly moving back to the water. Not that cold…ugh. Whatever! “No! Please! I don’t want her to try that again. The tree won’t hold her fat ass a second time!” He called back, half worried, half trying to get a rise out of his partner. The irritated growl form the other side confirmed he’d been successful. “But if you’re offering,” he started as he slowly crept back into the water, groaning as he reacclimated to the heat. “I’m sure a teeny, tiny peek over the wall would be enough to get me all hot and bothered~” he stated as he dunked up to his shoulders in warm spring water again. The shivering quickly subsided. [break][break]

“I’ll hold you to it! Better not cry, and the start sobbing once you accidentally rub your eyes with spicy hands!” he called back jokingly. He dunked his head in the water, completing his transformation. Homeostasis achieved. “I’m back in! It’s hot but not…burning hot!” he replied.

"H-hey!" Andres' suggestion, even if it was only in jest, left her flustered and huffing, crossing her arms over her chest just in case. He didn't strike her as the type low enough to be a peeping tom, but the mere thought of it was enough to make her want to cover up.

Then again, maybe she was just being silly. Andres already had his eye on someone— she could probably parade around his side of the spring completely naked, and he wouldn't so much as bat an eye. Surely he just found it fun to mess with her.

Luka huffed, lowering her arms again. "I won't cry," she retorted, an unusual stubbornness in her voice. It wasn't on account of her abilities in the handling spice, but her determination that Andres not see any moments of weakness. She couldn't bear that. "I won't! S-so bring it on!"

Another huff reverberated around the small enclosure of the spring. But Luka heeded her friend's advice and stepped cautiously into the spring again. He was right- it was still warm, but not scalding. In fact, it felt perfectly pleasant compared to the chill outside of the water.

"Mmm...you're right! It's nice," she called out, placing Toffee's tub back in the water. Her towel lay on the side of the spring, abandoned. She eyed it, considering something. It was a little awkward, yelling over the partition like this. Inconvenient too...and there was only the two of them...

"Y-you know...it's not awful, sharing the bath with someone. You can come over if you want...b-but only if you have a towel on!"

Andres snorted at Luka, bubbling the water as he lay with his head half submerged. “Ok, ok! Don’t get too worked up in this heat! I’ll take you out sometime for spicy food~ We can make a day of it.” He called back grinning. He lifted his hand out of the water to give her a thumbs up before dropping it back down as he realized she couldn’t see it. “I wouldn’t lie to you, mi corazon~” he added as he heard her retreating back into the bathwater. Chuchi followed immediately. He heard the belly flop that followed and the happy cry she let out once she breached the surface again. [break][break]

“Oh??” Andres asked, sitting up as he felt Luka was leading him towards something. He felt himself grinning so hard his cheeks hurt. “Que bendicion!! I’ll be right over!!” he called out sweetly, just barely holding back the enthusiasm he felt. Careful not to slip and crack open his head, Andres quickly grabbed his flip flops and hand towel and fast walked it to the lockers. Almost 10 minutes later he emerged from the girl’s locker rooms, looking tense, haggard, but successful in avoiding detection. His lower half is wrapped by a decently size towel and tied tightly as to avoid slipping. “Towel on, as promised.” He said holding his arms and gesturing as his midsection. Chuchi growled at him, annoyed he’d actually made it. She was hoping he’d get caught. [break][break]

Without much of a fuss, or even shame, Andres walked over to carefully reentered the bathwater next to Luka, smiling all the while. A little too happy to be here. “I should’ve snuck a bit of liquor here…I heard people tend to drink wine or something when bathing together.” He hadn’t. He’d seen it on tv. It was probably fake.

"A whole day? Sure, sure! That sounds— "

Nice. It sounded nice, but Chuchi's belly flop drowned out the rest of Luka's sentence. What followed after was a bit of coughing and spluttering as she wiped water out of her eyes and pushed her soaked hair back, though she didn't have the heart to scold the Eevee even after all that.

Instead, she hurried to make herself decent. In the time it took for Andres to make it over to her side she had wrapped her towel securely around her midsection. It was a little small, and perhaps a little more revealing than she would like as it clung damply to her body, but it was better than nothing. She continued to fuss and adjust it until she heard Andres' voice, when her head swiveled to look at him.

And then it turned right back around, lest she share.

"You really made it..." She was honestly a little impressed. And a little nervous, for she had been the one to invite him in here. If they got caught, it'd be all her fault! Though it was rather thrilling...breaking the rules, sharing a secret. Luka giggled, hiding the sound behind her hand.

"They drink sake sometimes," she mentioned casually. "But I don't think we need...that is, this is already a dangerous situation!" Luka affirmed with a nod. "And I can drink more than you anyways..."

Half was the chance to take a peek at a little more skin that Luka might usually show off, but the other half was simply how the situation itself would be enough to fluster Luka. She probably had something devious planned. After all, she’d been so nervous when he’d been shouting things over the wall. It sounded like a challenge. “Tacos and Tequila. That’s our next day out.” He said waving a finger at her before suddenly getting up. “And who’s this chiquillo?” he said purposefully passing far too close to Luka as he moved over to look at Toffee and give him a little wave.
