there's no way zeraora is mars' favorite pokemon. it isn't a water-type nor a psychic-type, and it isn't even all that cute. no offense, of course.

oh. they've arrived.

cian takes a moment to carefully glance around the area, taking in all the different shops in something akin to awe.

his lips curl into a smile as he tugs mars to the first one.

"let's get some sportswear."

Except for before he developed feelings for him, began trusting him, and realized he wanted Cian to know the truth about his life, but let’s just forget about that part, because Mars definitely hasn’t lied after all of that happened.

”He’s up there, though. Definitely top three… I might even put him in my main team once I’m done training him.”

Whenever that might be.

There’s no need to elaborate more than that, because as expected, Cian is soon distracted by all of the shops around them.

It’s really cute, and Mars can’t help but smile to himself while letting Cian drag him along.

the obvious answer is there but there's no need for cian to reach for it. mars has lied to him before, and despite all of cian's insecurities, he trusts mars enough to know that he hasn't been lied to again after that.

"is he just top three because i gave him to you?"

playful as ever, it's a nice thought to entertain.

they soon enter the store and cian makes sure to take a deep breath in, relishing in the way some sports stores smell.

"alright, babe. pick something for me."

Before giving any response, Mars simply smiles, pulling him even closer in order to kiss him so very gently and softly. Then, he remains close, the honest answer being given without looking away from him:

”Yes, he is. Don’t get me wrong, he’s a really cool pokémon and a lot of fun, but you’re the reason he has a special place in my heart.”

Another quick kiss, a bright grin, and his attention is returned to the streets around them...

The sportswear store has that familiarity that sportswear stores always seem to have, and a quick look is given to his surroundings before looking back at Cian.

"Okay, but you pick something out too."

cian realizes; he just likes hearing it if only to confirm his thoughts.

"sure. meet back here in ten?"

regardless of mars' answer, he leans in to give him a quick kiss on the cheek before stepping away, disappearing behind rows of clothing and sports apparel.

No matter how obvious the answers may be, Mars will always gladly tell Cian the truth about how he feels about him, because there’s no reason to and also because he would never want Cian to truly doubt his feelings. He will always make them clear, he will always show him how much he cares for him with even the smallest of actions…

But, if he can make them clear, why hasn’t he said those words yet? Is it because he doesn’t feel ready after everything he has been through, or is it that he worries about what Cian might say in return?

For now, the thought is pushed aside when his cheek is kissed, and he too turns his attention to all the sports apparel around them.

cian glances at it all, unsure of where to start exactly. but he stops for a moment, deciding it best to work through each individual aisle instead of running back and forth.

so he takes his time, moving through each one with genuine excitement while he picks out a few different pieces of clothing for mars to try on.

eventually, the ten minutes run up, and he's back where he started.

Still, there’s something nice about spending his time picking things out for Cian…

Thinking about what he would like, what Mars himself thinks would look good on him, and also a few times what would probably look hilarious if he were to try it on. By the time the ten minutes are done, there’s more than a few pieces in his arms and it’s with a smirk that he goes back to the spot where they said they would meet.

”Wanna go first, or should I? Or should we just try things on at the same time?”

smiling, he extends a pile of clothing over to mars, then takes his.

Definitely, and also probably a dramatic one if putting everything into consideration, but as Mars would like to see it, the good and happy moments far outweigh everything else.

”Sure, here you go. You better not be rude about my choices or I’ll be very sad.”

Mars smirks when taking the pile of clothes Cian picked for him, but in reality is not as if he would ever choose anything he thinks Cian would dislike… Other than to mess with him and because he thinks it would be funny, of course.

So, he gives him a quick kiss on the cheek, then winking before heading towards the fitting rooms.

it'd be both cute and hella dramatic coming into the third act of their movie, but it'd definitely do wonders at the box office.

"i'll try not to be, hehe."

and off he goes to try on mars' first choice.

for mars, the first outfit is a very sleek long-sleeve top that most athletes wear. black, of course, as that's what looks best.

Since Autumn is coming up, a few of the options Mars selected for Cian were made with running outdoors during colder mornings in mind. Such as that first comfortable and stylish sweatshirt; one made for that sort of activity and chosen in a nice deep shade of grey.

When he himself comes out after trying on Cian’s first choice, he chuckles when looking in the mirror.

”Guess we’re getting each other running outfits, then? Not bad, this is kind of nice.”

he looks over at mars, admiring.

"you look hot, by the way. i like it."

cian doesn't look too bad in his either; he knows as much, which mars should be able to tell just by how much cian's looking in the mirror. vain as always, he poses.
