What is there to thank her for? For adding those words just to reassure him? For being honest about how she feels? To Sol, it’s just simply the way things are, but while she usually would rarely bother with expressing her feelings, she does make a conscious effort this time – if only for his sake.

Even if it’s something as simple and obvious as the fact that she thinks he’s great.

Even if, in her opinion, it shouldn’t need to be said.

The words seem to satisfy him enough to return his attention to vacuuming down his food as he usually does, and while she sighs at this in disbelief, it does make her glad. She even smiles.

”Oh? What did you make?”

uri likes seeing her smile. it makes him happy, warm, so when she smiles, he makes sure to take a break from his food for a moment to appreciate it.

he smiles in response.

"one sec. i'll show you."

standing up, he quickly jogs over to the fridge, pulls it open, and comes back with a little tupperware full of...

"gummy bears."

”You’ll show me?”

That’s enough to make her suspicious, but there’s no way she could have ever guessed.

Not even as she watched him get him and quickly head into the kitchen, an eyebrow being raised when he returns with a tupperware...

Gummy bears.

She stares at him, and even though she doesn’t want to because it’s ridiculous, she can’t help but chuckle at this.

”Arceus... Uri.. You didn’t.”.

But, he did, even if her tone is filled with amused disbelief.

uri wasted little time in placing the tupperware down onto the table between them. he clicked it open, pulling the lid off to reveal a wide assortment of different-colored gummy bears.

"i made different flavors, and for those who like mixing gummy bears, i even made frankenbears. look!"

he pulled a particular gummy bear out. it had a red head, an orange body, and yellow legs.

"try one."

He actually made gummy bears?

Sol knows gummy bears can be made, she probably has even read a few recipes somewhere, but it’s not something even she has tried doing and she’s the one who likes sweets and baking between the two of them.

Is that why he made gummy bears? Because of the ones on the other night when they went on patrol? That night that was a complete disaster but that ultimately led to something good?

”I can’t believe you actually made gummy bears…. Why?”

The ‘why’ doesn’t really matter, but she still wants to know.

Before a reply is given, she takes one of the frankenbears.

”Hmm…”

seeing as how they had shared a pack of gummy bears that one fateful night. he even made sure to not make any green ones.

looking to help with her hesitance, he picks up one of the frankenbears and tosses it into his mouth.

”Cute, huh?”

It is cute, and it’s also sweet, and it makes her happy that he thinks about doing things like these.

”I do love gummy bears…”

Sol has no doubt that they’re actually safe to eat, but she still watches him toss one into his mouth, sighing before taking a bite off of hers. The poor gummy bear’s head is bitten clean off, and she holds Uri’s gaze as she does so.

”Oh. Pretty good.”

She doesn’t even bother hiding it or delaying her reaction, a slight smile even accompanying it.

Seriously? It’s just a gummy bear. One filled with vodka, at that.

She can definitely taste the familiar flavour of the strong spirit even after a single bite, but at least it blends well with the sugary taste of the gummy bear, so that’s that…

”Do you want to throw him a gummy bear funeral or something?”

Ever one to tease him, she smirks, but it’s already too late: the rest of the body is soon consumed just like the head.

”Oh, I can taste it. You’re going to get drunk if you eat so many of those.”

They seem like the sort of thing that could be deceiving; have one too many until realizing they’re suddenly wasted.

She wasn’t challenging him, she was warning him. But, alas, it’s no surprise that Uri would ignore her warnings.

Sol does no more than watch him as he scoops up a handful of gummy bears, staring while he chews them as if they were regular candy. Idiot.

”You will, and I’m not going to look after you when you’re hungover.”

This is a lie, because she knows it’s likely that she will end up looking after him.

Since, unlike Uri, Sol takes a single gummy bear and eats it, taking her time with it despite how tempting it is to grab another soon after.

Why does he have to be so stubborn and defiant about something so stupid?

She’s right, and they both know she’s right, but here he is, going against her words probably out of nothing but some silly manly pride or something. As if he thought himself immune to the effects of alcohol. Then again, she should have guessed it would be this way, considering what he was like when they played beer pong together...

With a sigh, she rolls her eyes too.

”Okay, Uri.”

Let him make his mistakes and regret them later.

Suddenly, her appetite is all gone, but she still remains right where she is; sitting at the table, looking at him.

’I know you'd take care of me.’

There’s no point denying it, is there?

”Yeah, and I’d make sure you suffer as much as possible through every second of your stupid hangover.”

as stubborn and defiant as uri usually is, this time he was actually just being playful. maybe he should've chosen something else other than vodka gummies to be playful with, however, as he's slowly starting to feel them kicking in.
