➪ Galar was and always has been a shitehole for him. The third youngest child of seven siblings, there was seldom money to be given amongst the Dawson offspring. Shared birthday parties, hand-me-down clothes, a single jelly-filled scone being known as a delicacy. This was life for them. Leaving Kian, in particular, somewhat annoyed but with no spite against his parental figures.

➪ Some grew up to be excellent trainers. Others dropped the face of the Earth or slowly started their own businesses. Kian, being a rather aloof person already, threw himself into work in the Flying Taxi business. [break][break]

To call his experience there “brutal” was an understatement. Even without all the manual labour and training he needed to do, beckoning to the customer was also an immense pain. Flying to a destination only to get scolded, forcing fake smiles for the ridiculous requests they asked for. It was shit work. No matter how well they paid him. And as a cynical person, it was challenging to appear somewhat amicable.

➪ Eventually (and unsurprisingly) Kian was fired after he refused to drive a socialite and her Fennekin for multiple pit stops in-between. In frustration, Kian and his Corviknight ended up dropping them at a Wild Area far from their destination. This blunder made both human and companion look bad, especially in the former’s resume.

Koban Elite is a limousine service that was created by Sabrina Dawson, a thirty-three-year-old woman who hails from Wyndon City. It pairs up together with the latest technology (including Rotoms that are specifically instructed to create the best environment for the customers) as well as trained Meowths to provide comfort inside the vehicle; tailored mostly for high-end clients.

It stretches to all regions, being the go-to for many well-known celebrities and social personas. “Pay day is every day” inside one of her limousines, Sabrina says, and she swears that each experience will always be a different one.

➪ However, in the Dawson family, it was almost miraculous that one grew up successful enough to offer Kian a job. With his older sister owning the worldwide business “Koban Elite”, a luxury chauffeur service, Kian’s experience and family ties worked well together to ease him into a position. He becomes stationed in Hoenn, away from his embarrassing reputation, hoping to Arceus that his furry ”co-workers” promise more friendliness than him.

➪ Although, despite Kian having more victory in avoiding small talk, the job is still a miserable one. Driving the same people who have yelled at him over minor mistakes. Hearing the chatter of businessmen who have never experienced a struggle like him in their entire lives. It keeps Kian on edge. Makes him feel dread about every event, every silent cruise he has in the front.

[break][break]➪ He can’t leave this life and the act of being in servitude to others is what he now considers as his personal Hell. It’s the feeling of being replaceable, yet trapped, that makes him go mad. The sacrifice of his social life all to make the devils comfortable as they taste their wine.



[break][break]➪ Escape is what he wants more than anything. And escape he finds in Team Rocket, as if they’re the dimmest light he’s ever seen at the end of the tunnel.

[break][break]➪ Ignoring his better judgment, Kian joins Team Rocket in secrecy. He does mostly anonymous work, falling in the lines of what you would consider a “scam caller”; coaxing new trainers about “free Pokémon giveaways” or setting up false trade offers and mock items for high prices. He’s a Gym Leader, a Police Officer, a daycare worker all in one day and he doesn’t even have to leave his couch. Some people call his work scummy, though Kian feels too jaded to even care about the insults.

[break][break]➪ Kian has every intention to leave his job (and old life) behind once he gets high enough in status with Rocket. And he knows that one day, what is considered “grunt work” will eventually turn into something more where he can finally feel like himself instead of some ragdoll being played with for minimum wage.
