Huh—okay, that was unusual. Squinting through the weather, he knew that it was going to clear out the next turn—and that it was going to be harder to aim another burst of wind when the downpour finally stopped.

The Hawlucha had rebounded as the attack connected but then—what the hell!

The insolence!

Now that the Hawlucha was ~~angy~~ ~~angery~~ infuriated that the Snorlax was sleeping! Sleeping! In the middle of things! But then again—

A sudden idea, before a close-range Low Kick was thrown at the Snorlax; while a last-second attempt at a Hurricane gale-force blast of wind was thrown at the Blissey this time.

And the rain was going to be stopping soon…

The Phione knew that the strange downpour was coming to a stop soon; hopefully she’d be able to catch up to the Noibat and say hello! She only wanted a new friend, after all…

noibat (f) telepathy - dragon pulse, moonlight, hurricane, boomburst, dragon rush

snorlax (m) thick fat - rest, sleep talk, surf, blizzard, thunder, fire blast

blissey (f) healer - life dew, heal pulse, copycat, soft-boiled, minimize, protect

snorlax takes LOW KICK and blissey braces herself through the HURRICANE, yelping at the pain that courses through her body. but they know the plan. she'll have to fight through this until the very end.

snorlax remains sleeping, but he does SLEEP TALK out a THUNDER that spirals towards the gyarados. and like usual, blissey's HEAL PULSE continues to pump into the snorlax.

noibat finally slows down enough, turning mid-air to peer at the phione.

Just as the rain finally petered out and ran its course, the Phione finally managed to approach the Noibat; never mind if the strange appendage sticking out of her head was glowing thanks to the aftereffects of the Tail Glow from earlier.

And then she did what any other Pokémon would do—wave at the Noibat.

Down on the ground, though, the battle raged on.

Now that the rain had stopped pouring, the aim for Thunder and Hurricane would go down—thankfully the incoming blast of lightning was met head-on with an equally-powerful blast of Hydro Pump from the Gyarados before it reared back.

Shit, and who was the Hawlucha supposed to target between them? It was like they were stuck in an endless loop? Instead, another Flying Press came crashing down on the Snorlax—but even then, the Hawlucha knew he was already at his limit.

So was the Gyarados, to be honest.

Gyarados used Hydro Pump!
Hawlucha used Flying Press!

it definitely does seem like they're stuck in an endless loop, at least until his pokemon get too tired to continue, which is just unlikely to happen.

snorlax gets hit by both HYDRO PUMP and FLYING PRESS — both attacks vibrate across his flubber, and it's with a loud groan that he releases another SLEEP TALK. a THUNDER lashes out at either of them.

just like last time, blissey continues pumping snorlax with a HEAL PULSE.

in the air, noibat looks curiously at the phione. it waves at her, so the only polite thing to do would be to wave in response, right? that's exactly what she does.

Okay, now that first contact had been established—the Phione very slowly approached the Noibat and made the strange thing sticking out of her head light up once more with another Tail Glow, which was unusual in and on itself because normally, Phione never knew that move.

But she did.

She wanted to make friends!

Back down where the Gyarados and the Hawlucha were hard-pressed for time, they both knew that this would potentially be their last attack; after getting struck by the bolt of lightning, the Hawlucha was literally going to throw everything into this last burst of power!

An attempt at Endeavor was made; lashing out at the Blissey; and the Gyarados followed afterward with one final Hydro Pump at the same target.

Gyarados used Hydro Pump!
Hawlucha used Endeavor!

with nowhere to run, the blissey succumbs to the two attacks, falling to the ground after. she's swiftly recalled, and at the same time, snorlax awakens, feeing RESTED than ever.

"for blissey."

FOR BLISSEY!!!!!

a THUNDER lashes out at either of the two.

noibat in the air spins around and shows her tail to the phione. hers isn't glowing, however.

Was the Noibat being cheeky? She was pretty sure Fenrir wasn’t like this, although this Noibat was colored green instead of the normal kind—ooh, maybe that was what made this one unique.

…and now the Noibat was mooning her. Cackling, the Phione made the weird appendage sticking out of its head come alight once again with Tail Glow—and this time for some strange reason, tiny little wisps of light began to circle around her. Ooh, what was happening?

Unfortunately for the two, the Snorlax was well—shit. At least they managed to nuke the Blissey down.

The strike of lightning then caught the Hawlucha dead-center, sapping it of its own energy before collapsing—which left the Gyarados wide open. That was a lucky strike!

A last, desperate attempt at Hydro Pump is flung towards the Snorlax—was this now a showdown of Kanto’s Greatest Hits? ~~heh~~

who better to play out kanto's greatest hits than one of kanto's greatest hitters?

"SNORLAX?"

questioning the normal-type seems to spring it back into action. it blinks, fighting against the current of HYDRO PUMP before sending out one final THUNDER when it eventually subsides. sparks of yellow travel across the battlefield, looking to end their challenge.

at the TAIL GLOW, noibat giggles, then flies back down to land on matias' shoulder. such a tease!
