Her words sound ominous, but justifiably so. She’d faced Necrozma and seen a creature capable of tossing it around as if it were some toy. Whatever that was, whatever lies in other realms and dimensions, those are the enemies she expected the prophet to refer to.

“..Maybe.” Mars’ suggestion makes more sense than Kat would like to admit. Not because her ego is too fragile (although it is) to give someone else credit, but because the implication that they needed the help of others - potentially many - is not one she’s very happy to consider.

There’s no part of Mars that could even begin to guess the sort of things that Katherine has encountered in the past, but perhaps soon, when they both step beneath the ruins of a church in Ever Grande and face the horrors that await them there, he will think it to be something like that.

After all, in this world where deities roam and people possess extraordinary abilities, the idea of bigger enemies really is of concern, especially when coming from someone like her.

Is there a way to deal with these enemies, then? Is that what Azelf was trying to tell them in this strange and overly complex way?

Mars rarely would be one to question the will of a deity, especially that of the deity of willpower itself, but it all seems… unnecessarily convoluted.

Why couldn’t Azelf give them an easier way to find each other if there’s more people it visited? It’s not like they could just approach someone and ask them if they were recently visited by a small deity that spoke prophecies into their head…

There has to be a reason why Azelf chose to visit them out of all people, something that binds them together. Something Mars knows may not even become clear until reaching the future foretold by the deity.

The implication that he needs to add his own number carries an unspoken request for his personal phone-number. Knowing Katherine, she won’t settle for anything less.

It seems like an impossible task, like they have been doomed to fail from the very start. The odds stacked against them are of a magnitude that Mars doesn’t even care for calculating. And yet, even if all of these things are true, they had still found each other, hadn’t they?

Just like they had found each other, just like he had found the girl at the Star Soirée, they can find anothers. They can and will overcome. This mystery is theirs to uncover. Even without Katherine Fairburne’s help, he will solve this, although admittedly he’d prefer it if she did offer her assistance – allegiances aside, there’s something reassuring about having someone like her by his side through all of this.

That’s a shame, I was getting used to our email exchanges.” It’s easy to slide back into joking as their meeting comes to a close; lighthearted words as if to make up for the heaviness of everything else that has been discussed. ”Fair point, though. He does take her phone, even if he could have settled for giving her his card, and with a few taps upon the screen, he adds the phone number that is usually left as private and rarely given to those he meets.
