The promise of seeing Niko again aside from a working stand point made Jessie's heart flutter for a moment. Even if this wasn't more than a small fling and a night out after, he at least was pleasing her heart in multiple ways.

"Yeah? I would love that."

She blushed a bit when he mentioned her crochet work, shrugging a little.

"Yeah. I made some for my Raichu, Lucy, once. She got so excited that she zapped them and burned them. I had to make more so she wasn't upset."

It was still sort of funny to remember.

"You want me to make you one?"

She seemed surprised. Jessie never considered herself good at what she did, and he didn't even know what her work looked like. Why would he want one?

"I can, if you want. Just tell me the colors you want. I'm not promising you it'll look amazing, though."

Well, he gave her colors, and she asked for colors. She'd have to be a bit creative and see what she could do with it.

"I'll work on it."

He brought the attention back to what she wanted. What did Jessie want? Really, she was happy, except for a few things. Mostly involving her family.

"Right now, for you to cover the check and stay with me tonight is all I could ask for... I'm really not a hard girl to please."

His readiness to drop everything, just for her, made her heart clench in her chest. This feeling was as unknown as... an unown. See what I did there?

"Really?" She couldn't help but express her surprise.

How long had they been in Slateport now? It had been a little while at this point, hadn't it?

"Just a little bit, I think. My family came here from Canalave."

She had to hide her flushed face by eating some of her food, though she was entirely pleased. She couldn't help but smile as she ate and drank.

"Yeah. Kinda far..."

Her mood dropped slightly when he asked why they came to Hoenn. She sighed.

"My asshole father, really. I think he found more work opportunities here. I didn't wanna leave, but I didn't have much of a choice. I didn't want to be alone."

"Yeah. Siblings, mother, father. Aunt. A whole lot of them."

She pushed around her eggs on her plate for a moment, recalling how GABRIEL BLACK came into the club and embarrassed her in front of all those people.

Hardly her father at this point.

"Do you have family here?"

Jessie had a sense of his occupation now. Before, she had wondered what exactly he did, where he got his income. But it wasn't quite a mystery to her anymore. To most, she'd think, it would be a bother or terrifying, associating with a person who did "unclean" work.

She could hear her brother's lecture right now.

But to her, it didn't seem to phase her. Not sense she started working in the night life and meeting all sorts of individuals. The good guys, the bad guys, the morally gray.

"You're a good person, to give them a home they probably wouldn't have," she said, offering a smile.

"My father and brother, they're the type of people to follow the league. My brother's part of the Slateport police force. But, I've never fit in with their ideas of justice or morals, I think.

"My father thinks I'm a stain to the family name, doing what I do."

Why she was admitting this to him, she wasn't sure.
