[attr="class","inner-finally"]There had been a rather heavy storm last night, heavy winds howling as lightning and thunder danced up above. Having just reached Pacifidlog with no time to search for accommodation, they'd spent the night outdoors, huddled in a rundown shed and waiting for the storm to pass. When they'd woken up, they'd found themselves surrounded by an impenetrable wall of wool, all thoroughly soaked and shivering as they press together for warmth.

By a strange turn of events, they'd found themselves in the middle of a Mareep flock. And perhaps by miracle, they hadn't been thoroughly fried by any static electricity emitted throughout the night. Still, as she steps out to the overbearing petrichor, Eris is forced to witness the grand scattering of Mareep - Soggy, white clouds dotting the nearby fields and treelines as they wander around aimlessly.

"Do you think they're lost?"
[break][break]
Her question falls to Reiner but even he doesn't hold an answer for this. Instead, he's nervously tiptoeing around, occasionally checking over his shoulders only to see the Mareep following right after him. Watching for a bit, Eris can't help but laugh, carefully clambering onto his back before pointing towards the treelines.

It was the sound that first woke her, and then it was the lights: dozens upon dozens of orbs shining outside her tent as if bright Will-O-Wisps that danced through the air in her small camping ground. In the darkness of the night, she could see them clearly through the bright yellow fabric of the tent, but it was only when she partially unzipped the entrance that this sight being paired with the sound of constant bleating made any sense.

Rubbing her eyes to make sure this wasn’t some weird dream, Lia stepped out with a yawn, clad in the Midday Lycanroc onesie she had only been wearing because nights were getting colder and she definitely didn’t expect anyone to see her…

She was proven wrong when noticing that it wasn’t just Mareep that had made it to her camp, but also a little girl riding atop of her Luxray’s back. At that point, Lia could feel her cheeks burning up.

”Oh… Hey… What are you doing here? Are you lost?”

It becomes chaos within minutes of stumbling upon a seemingly empty camp, Mareep digging their heads into bags left on the ground and stuffing their cheeks full of whatever sweet treats they can find. For once, Reiner seems content to leave the mess as it is, even barking out in laughter as Eris tries to scold them. It's only when a head pops out of one of the tents that she falls silent, her cheeks burning red as she quietly switches her gaze from the hungry sheep to the waking wolf.

"N- not all who wander are lost!" She stutters, pointing at the woman with such rattled confidence, only to panic when she hears the endless bleating. "No stop eating that!"

If only she could stop sneezing between her sentences.

Even if flickering and inconstant, the lights at the end of every Mareep’s tail illuminated the camp much better than the full moon up above. They allowed her to get a clear view of everything that was happening around her; from the way one of the Wool Pokémon chewed into a bag of marshmallows – plastic and all – to the way another one sniffed her compound bow and quiver full of sharp arrows.

”Hey! Hey! Get away from that!” Momentarily distracted by shooting the Mareep away from potential harm, Lia grabbed her bow, keeping it lowered as gold-coloured eyes fell on the small girl once more. What had she said? Not all who wander are lost.

A faint smile tugged at her lips at the thought of the phrase, for Lia would always be a bookworm. ”All that’s gold does not glitter.” Ironic, when said by a woman of golden eyes, who also found herself surrounded by golden lights.

”Did you bring the Mareep here? It’s pretty late.” For the sake of the child, she tried her best to push aside her annoyance at the pokémon’s actions, her attention turning to taking a bag of supplies away from a Mareep and tossing it into her tent along with the bow before zipping it close.

"...Are you allergic to them?"

The sneezing was impossible to miss, after all, but what was a child doing in the middle of the forest with a bunch of Mareep?

More so than allergic, she's just a little cold, shivering in her rain-soaked clothes but doing her best to shake it off. Reiner does his best to provide her warmth, but his fur's waterlogged and it'd be unwise to try and warm himself up with electricity in the usual way that he does. Instead, he wanders over to her firepit, lifting Eris off his back and sitting her beside it before nudging at the leftover wood and ashes.

At first, it had been difficult to notice, but even in the dim light of the Mareep’s tails, it became all too obvious the moment she gave the girl a good look: she was soaked, and so was her Luxray. What the hell had happened? Had she fallen into a river? Had she been sleeping under the rain or something?

Beneath her feet, Lia could feel the wet soil, making the latter the most likely possibility.
[break][break]
”...Shit. Okay, give me a second, you’re going to catch a cold if you stay like that.” Or worse.
[break][break]
So, the wolf ignored the sheep, reaching into her tent to grab her boots and a couple of pokéballs. From them, two pokémon were released: a Comfey of colourful flowers and a large Typhlosion. ”The wood is wet after the rain, so I’ll have to get some more before starting a fire. You can stay near Quill for warmth… I’ll grab you a towel and something for you to wear while your clothes dry off.”

And as if on cue with her words, the Typhlosion stepped closer, the flames emitted by the spots on its neck being as if their own campfire. Their warmth quickly began to spread as if a wave over the camp, while the Comfey used its FLORAL HEALING to help with the child’s endless sneezing. Warmth, petals, and a delightful aroma.

”Why were you out in the rain?” Having to avoid a few Mareep in order to approach the little girl, Lia placed a towel atop of her head in order to dry her hair. ”My clothes are going to be too big for you, but you can’t stay in those wet ones... I left a few in the tent if you want to get changed.”

A smile was given then; one gentle, soft, and as warm as the Typhlosion’s flames.

[attr="class","inner-finally"]Lia's probably a little late on the 'going to' bit, but it doesn't stop Eris from tilting her head at the sudden appearance of her pokemon. Unlike Nova's little flames, Quill's warmth doesn't take long to reach her, working at the chilly knots in her entire body and loosening frozen joints that Eris hadn't noticed before. As for the Comfey's sweet scent wafting through the air, there's a sort of comfort that radiates and works through her anxious mind.

"We tried our best to hide from the rain, but the winds were super strong and we got soaked anyways..." Her vision is suddenly obscured by a cloth, a small yelp escaping her as she instinctively holds onto Reiner. And he merely watches as the woman starts drying her hair, barking at the blank expressions that Eris makes as she sits at the mercy of another. "Didn't help that these Mareep pushed their way into our shelter and left the door open!"

Speaking of the numerous sheep, Eris sneaks a peek from beneath the moving folds of a (rather nice-smelling) towel, only to spy a few of them sniffing a suspicious pile of wild apricorns and attempting to chew on it. Thankfully, they're quick to realise that it's inedible and soon shuffle off in hopes of looking for something else to eat.

Once her hair is relatively drier compared to the start, Reiner nudges Eris towards the tent, silently following in her uncertain footsteps and seating himself right outside of the tent as she disappears into it. It doesn't take too long for her to figure out what to do and soon enough, she remerges from the tent in an oversized Dusk Lycanroc onesie. The sleeves are carefully rolled up to fit her and there's a certain bagginess to the outfit in general. Yet, she can't quite seem to stop grinning, her hands thrown up into the air as she runs back towards her fellow Lycanroc.

Why did a little girl need to hide from the rain in the first place? Why was she under such precarious shelter? Where was her home? Where were her parents? Why wasn’t she more concerned about her own precarious situation?

All of these questions and more crossed Lia’s mind as she dried the girl’s blonde hair, but instead of asking them, she looked down at her, realising that her own priority should be to make sure that her young guest was safe and dry and healthy. It was all she could do for now.

”You’ll be fine, I’ll prepare something to warm you up while you get changed. Oh… I’m Lia, by the way.”
[break][break]
The introduction came with the same smile as before, and when the girl approached the tent along with her Luxray, Lia reached to pet her Typhlosion – nodding for it to stay nearby as well. That way at least Quill could provide some warmth from outside while she prepared the wood for their campfire.

A few Mareep were scared away from what remained of her supplies, and even though the bag of marshmallows had sadly become victim to one of the Wool Pokémon, by the time Eris came out of the tent, Lia sat by a campfire while beginning to prepare them some hot cocoa. The perfect thing to warm them up.

The hood of her onesie had been pulled back, and atop of her head, her Comfey rested – wrapped as if a crown of blooms in yellow and white. Thankfully, it seemed as if the fire’s warmth caused most of the Mareep to calm down.

”That looks really cute on you! Do you like hot cocoa?”

"I'm Eris!" Manners teach her to return the smile, even as she fidgets with her fingers or feels sick to the stomach. "And uhm, yeah! I like hot cocoa!"

When she finds a seat right by the fire, Reiner follows suit, draping himself around her feet and making himself comfortable. At some point, a Mareep or two wander over with mouths full and chewing. The third that arrives is halfway through biting a marshmallow, static crackling off its tail as it tries its best.

"Uhm... thank you, Miss Lia..." With her gaze temporarily darting from snacking Mareep to the woman, Eris can't help but purse her lips at how disorganised the camp seems now. "Sorry for the sudden intrusion and all..."

An interesting name for a child, wasn’t it? One that seemed sweet, but that in truth spoke of complete discord to anyone familiar with such things. Eris, ἔρις, strife.

Was that what this girl was? Did her name curse her to a complete lack of harmony in her life?

The state of Lia’s camp seemed to exist almost as proof of that, and yet, despite having such thoughts passingly cross her mind, the former historian smiled gently when offering the child a freshly-made cup of hot cocoa. ”Don’t worry about that, you can stay as long as you like… And so can the Mareep!”

Sometimes, a word was just a word, and even if its origin could say a lot about it, it sure didn’t define what it might later become.

In the same way, a name was just a name, and even someone named after discord could enjoy peaceful moments.

Amelia, a variant of the name ‘Amalia’ and derived from the Germanic ‘Amal’, meaning ’work’

Which, ironically, was what she would soon have to do to fix her camp after the chaos brought upon by the herd and their companions.
