Imagine being pulled away from your official job of wrangling feisty pokemon to carry out an illegal job of wrangling feisty pokemon. With how they hiss and claw at him, he's so tempted to just call it a day and unceremoniously dump this job onto the next unlucky grunt. imagine having to deal with wrangling feisty pokemon more than once a day.

is what casanova would say if they were feeling up to it. instead, they really just want to get this over with and go home and take a break. not have to deal with making up any fortunes for a day or two, and hopefully avoid any missions while they're on their "days off". so, with their zoroark filing in behind their back, they had made their way to the selected spot.

the other rocket- or what casanova hopes is a rocket, is waiting nearby. a bit awkwardly, they raise a hand in a wave; a difference from the zoroark glaring daggers from over their shoulder. "guess you're here for the job, too?" they can't think of any other reason someone would be here, especially with the box where it is.

"what do you think it is?" without waiting for an answer to either question, they open the lid a little; curious to see what's inside.

Stiffness is met with a gentle sort of warmth, a smirk tugging at the ends of his lips as he side-eyes the angsty Zoroark. Must be some kind of faithful companion, close enough to be wary of his presence.

Damn, I'm a little too busy for dinner tonight, hun~" Still, he'll spare the duo a lazy wave of his own, looking to the Glaceon for her judgement and spying a vague huff under her breath. "Should be the usual, smuggled rares sought after by kids with way too much money and not enough judgement."

With a raised brow at the daringness of his partner, Ryuuzaki can only shrug his shoulders and join in for a little sneak peek. If one of them is gonna bend the rules, he may as well be a partner in crime. And perhaps, he's glad that he does, whistling softly as he pulls away from the raging dragon.

fable is obviously tense, still, but if casanova notices they don't say anything to relax the zoroark. it's not like they could, anyways; he's in a state of being vigilant more often than not, unfortunately. instead, their words are directed to their partner in crime, spoken casually. "he doesn't bite. usually." a dismissive wave of their hand, and they continue. "unless he thinks you're a threat."

like the pokemon in the box. a whistle, and casnova's closing it just after the stranger manages to look at it- they'd rather not deal with it getting out and attacking anyone. and, given from fable's slowly bristling fur, casanova thought it was for the best; they don't want the goods entirely damaged, either, and something tells them that'd be the case if fable had a reason to.

"you can take it if you want. i'd rather not have a pokemon that acts like it's going to attack me." it's offered with a shrug; they have fable anyways.

Partners for life, how adorable... If only he could say Skadi was as passionate about keeping him safe as Fable was with Casanova. Still, the thought isn't quite enough distract him from the prize, a brief glance over the box yielding details that he'll keep in mind for later.

"Let's start with shifting the rest then," he hums, gesturing for his Glaceon to lead the way. And she does by coating the bottom of the larger crates with ice, tapping it with one box to ensure that they're sufficiently thick enough to bear the burden of movement. In the meantime, Ryuuzaki's already taking hold of the smaller boxes, opening them just slightly to give the pokemon within a lookover before closing them back in.

They're healthy, if not shaken, which is mostly good on his conscience - Whatever little he may possess.

if the other rocket notices fable's loyalty to casanova, he doesn't say anything- which is just as well, honestly. that's one thing they're not interested in sharing at all. and they're busy, so coming up ith a story if he had asked wouldn't be the first thing on their mind. instead, they give the cage holding the noivern a final, almost-nervous glance, like they're not sure it'll hold the pokemon.

and then, at the other rocket's words, they give a obviously sarcastic salute before stepping away, towards another cage with fable lingering on their heels. it's the closest one, and as they open it, they frown down at the pipulp cowring in the cage. it's not sick, or anything like that, from what casanova can tell. just scared; it serves to make them not feel as guilty about this.

which, honestly, they weren't feeling really guilty in the first place. they just knew that would change if they ended up delivering a dead pokemon.

checking on the other pokemon ends up more or less the same; some cower away, or stand their ground, or even struggle against the cages in an attempt to get to casanova or freedom, whichever came first. but they were all healthy enough to the untrained eye, and they finally broke the near-silence.

"all good on my end. are we ready to get this show on the road?"
