He strolled over to her, one hand in his pocket, the other holding the strap of his backpack. "I'm surprised to see you out here. I'd thought you'd be laid up in bed, avoiding the sun with all the shots you guys drank the other night." Clearly, her tolerance was stronger than Xander thought. [break][break]

Of course Ceri had not expected to hear someone calling her name in the middle of the woods, yet when she sees him, she smiles – recognition coming easily enough despite his doubts. Yes, she had had one too many shots and been drunk, but she sure as hell hadn’t been drunk enough not to remember the hot bartender, alright?

For all of its flaws and all of its chaos, Hoenn is apparently a pretty clean region. Not the best habitat for that kind of pokémon.

"It's going." The answer of a man adept at deflecting. He's not exactly lying, though. Things were going for him, but the details were a conversation killer. [break][break]

He'd forgotten how cheerful she was, but the wink reminded him. It's just playful enough to make Xander want to smile. He doesn't, of course. Those lips of his only have two settings: frown and stoic line. Trying to shift into a smile stalled the gears most of the time. [break][break]

"Nah, no Grimer or Muk. You'll have a hard time finding either in the forest. They're more common in big cities where they have plenty of waste to feed on." [break][break]

Xander was a ranger. Not that he'd done much with it recently, but that was changing. He thought of Stormy Silph and how she was doing. [break][break]
