A lone woman is sitting on the bench near the lone streetlight in the middle of the night of the full moon. Her posture tells that she is waiting for someone despite she is currently lost to the book in her hand. Not too far from her, there is a car that has been stolen by one of the Rockets which she decides to borrow for tonight and hopes that the pokemon that they are going to smuggle is fit enough to the convertible. "Apparently, someone else will accompany me. I wonder who they are" Nia murmurs without separating her eyes from the book.

Gavin recognizes the car, rather than the girl.

Most in Hoenn chose Pokémon for transport where it was available, but a car could make for less conspicuous transportation of goods. This one had been stolen a few days ago as part of another op; Gavin knows the paint job from the photos in the report.

The girl is talking to herself, though Gavin overhears.

"That would be me."

He steps into the light cast by the streetlamp, the cherry of his cigarette vibrant against the dim glow.

"I don't suppose that's a book on smuggling."

Nia find herself lost within the series of description line regarding a specific snowy city located within the other region - Galar, something about the region sparks something within her mind but it quickly vanishes. Unknown to her, she caresses the word Cishester as if trying to cling to it but someone disturbs her train of thought. "If you think a travel book counts as a book about smuggling, I guess so" Nia answers with a smile as if her previous disturbance within her mind is just a mere imagination. Whoever says that a travel book is not an actual book, Nia would share some thought about it with them and personally send them to the deepest hell.

"You must be my partner for tonight, huh? Name is Nia Acadia but you can call me Nia. Hope we can work together well" Nia introduced herself while putting away the book to her bag. Her GaiaPhone suddenly shudders signalling that there is a message coming in, taking a glance at it she quickly shoves it back into her pocket. "Oh, our cargo has arrived. It should be at pier 13, let go" Nia waves her arm to ask him to follow her.

Nia noticed a Darmanitan that sits calmly despite being caged, it is fortunate that the cargo is not something violent. However, the problem here is that... "Curses, a Darmanitan while they are in a zen mode has a significant weight. It should be around 93 kg. We are lucky that this is not the Galarian variant where the zen mode has roughly 120 kg." Nia spat some facts from the pokemon encyclopedia that she once read and memorize. "Well, that is not important but..." Nia stares at Gavin "... How confident are you with your strength?" Nia asks him while she is trying to think if any of her pokemon could make this easier.

He glances at the pages of her travel book, recognizing the skyline of his youth with a twist of nostalgia in his gut that he's careful to keep out of his expression.

"Circhester, hm? That's a big shift from Hoenn."

The vibrant tropical region couldn't be more different from where he grew up.

She introduces herself with an air of business-like authority, ordering him around in such a way that Gavin thinks she must not know who she's working with. He could clear it up easy enough but chooses, for now, to play along.

"Gavin."

How much attention did she pay to the names of her superiors?

"Confident," he replies to her question, "but my Pokémon are even stronger."

He sends out a silver Metagross, lifting the Darmanitan onto the plateau of its head with a grunt of exertion. The supercomputer tucks its legs underneath as a magnet rise takes effect, and the two Pokemon slowly lift off the ground.

"You want it in the trunk, then?"

Nia silently smiles within, when she introduces herself earlier - She is fully aware of who he is. Nia has memorized all of the underboss identity but she often thinks that announcing what she knows before others announce it feels a bit wrong and stalker-ish. Nia looks at how Gavin ordered his Metagross to lift the Darmanitan, "Yeah, you can put it in the trunk" Nia says casually. When the cargo is slowly dropped, Nia noticed how the car suddenly gets lowered slightly due to the extra weight on the back. Nia starts to rub her chin and shrugs, slapping the trunk and taking on the driver seat.

"Should be okay. Though not sure if we should go faster with the extra weight on the back." Nia mentions, igniting the car and proceeding forward at an adequate speed - Not too fast nor too slow. "Driving a car instead of using a Pokemon is great once in a while, don't you think?" Nia decides to fill their journey with small talk.

Gavin shakes his head when she suggests going faster.

"Don't want to attract attention. Just drive like we're not in a hurry."

Wind tugs at the cigarette pinched between his fingers, scattering embers. Wisps of black miasma brush past his lips as he exhales smoke. He shrugs his shoulders at her question.

"I'm indifferent. Rangers'll tell ya this shit's bad for the environment, but so is everything else these days."

Case in point, his smoking habit.

"Heh, people love to claim something and twist it in a way that fits their own agenda. If someone else opposes their claim, well... They will say that they are part of the problem" Nia scoffs while her hand is on the steering wheel. Watching the scenery shift gradually as they cross the street. "Ah, at least open the windows if you are going to smoke" Nia opens the windows on Gavin's side, revealing them to the outside world. However, with the speed that she uses and their behavior within the car that looks like a couple having a good night chat while driving - No one would suspect that they are currently smuggling a pokemon.

"In the same vein, I could easily say that using your pokemon to commute from one place to another sounds like slavery to me. But who am I to say that, heh" Nia continues, shrugging feeling indifferent with the topic. "On the lighter tone, did you hear about particular ice cream from the Unova region? I heard someone open a shop that sells it, I think it is called..." Nia ponders for a moment trying to recall the name then snaps her finger. "Casteliascone! Yeah, that's the name. How do you think it tastes like?" Nia asks for Gavin's opinion.

He'd only cracked the window, though, so maybe it had escaped her notice. Either way, the wind had snatched the ashen tip from his cigarette and scattered it to embers. He exhales grey smoke and black miasma, both stolen by the evening air.

He scoffs at the mention of slavery. To Rocket, Pokémon were nothing but tools. Gavin's own view toward them differed but they were in the wrong organization to get hung up on moral quandaries.

Surprised by a sudden shift in topic, there's a pause before he answers.

"I've been to Unova, but I never tried it." He shrugs. "They're the ones shaped like Vanillite, yeah?"

"Yeah, yeah... That's the one. How about we tried it later after this" Nia casually invite Gavin without any ulterior motives. Her hand is reaching to her phone to check the map, "Oh, we should be that far anymore from our destination" Nia muses pointing out her realization. As her eyes return back to the road, she suddenly hits the break and turns her head to a certain spot. Due to the time of day and there is barely any lightning around, she barely can see what it is but from the silhouette - Nia saw a dog that stuck on a bush fence. She points a flashlight at it then she burst out of laugh and continues driving.

"Sorry, I thought I saw a dog get stuck but it turns out it's just a freaking chia pet," Nia mentions her finding to Gavin. "So, about what I said before... Want to go out for a Casteliascone later?" Nia returns to the topic and asks again.

Gavin's about to respond to her offer when she hits the brakes. His brow furrows as he squints into the darkness. He can't see anything ahead that would have caused her to stop, but she explains herself through laughter.

"The fuck's a chia pet?"

He's already pulling up Google on his phone. A huff of dry laughter follows his question. Among the results are several men with afros made of plants, for whatever reason. He doesn't get it. Is this a sign he's getting old? Arceus.

"Uh, sure," he replies, the hesitation borne more of distraction than any reluctance. He closes his phone and pockets it, returning his gaze to Nia. "Not much for ice cream but I'll give it a shot."

Nia chuckles about the obliviousness of Gavin toward the chia pet, she somehow finds that endearing. "A honey on ice cream would be divine, don't you think" Nia murmurs daydreaming about the ice cream that she would eventually order in the future. Nia shift gears and gently take a turn on the car then realized that the tail of her car swerve slightly further than it should. She quickly steps on the break gently and looks behind.

"Sorry, Gavin. But can you check the trunk? I think our baggage rolled over. It would be bad if he got damaged" Nia asks Gavin to check it out.

"Depends on the ice cream."

He's pretty sure the car's weight shifts as she takes the turn and isn't surprised when she expresses concern over their prize, though he does raise his brow when she asks him to check it out.

He shrugs. "Sure."

Stepping out of the car when she pulls over, he circles around to the trunk and pops it to observe the Zen Darmanitan tipped over onto its side. Gavin sighs as he reaches in to push it back, when—

"Ngh."

He grunts and stumbles back as an extrasensory blast assaults his mind, causing a sharp ache in his temple. Black spots swarm his vision as he grips the lip of the trunk to keep himself standing, closing his eyes against a wave of nausea.

It's a minute before he gets back into the passenger side, scowling and rubbing his temple with one hand as he fumbles with the seatbelt.

"It's not damaged."

He hates psychic-types. A lot.

"Sorry for troubling you when technically you are my boss." Nia apologizes when Gavin comes back and informs her that everything is okay without giving out any kind of excuses. Nia gently starts the car back to life and drives again - Soon they will be reaching their destination. "Oh yeah, since you are one of the Underbosses in Rocket. Do you know a man called Raphael Pryde personally? I want to know more about him" Nia asks Gavin casually while her eyes are still glued to the road. Humming a tune as her habit while driving start to surface.
