Halfway through a hotdog, Hideo was enjoying his walk through route 119. He always kind of liked this area: the beautiful sound of water, the wind brushing through the trees, the pleasant fields he could just walk through on a whim.

Had it not been for all the bugs and birds that populated this route, he might've set his camp somewhere in it. Not that he disliked either, but they were known to cause trouble for people settling around here.

So he walked, flanked by his Blissey and his Meowstic, the trio just enjoying their time together.

Then they heard someone shout at them.

"Mhm?"

Before Hideo had the chance to turn, he felt someone plow right into him. He flew forward, his hotdog flying right out of his hand.

His Meowstic was quick to act, reaching forward and channeling his Psychic energy-

Saving the hotdog from hitting the ground, pulling into his small paws.

Hideo hit the dirt front-first, a small dust-cloud punctuating his impact. He laid there for a moment as his body processed the pain. "Owwwwww," he moaned, gently raising his head up. "What...what was that?"

The hotdog was indeed saved by the Meowstic; it’d be awful if it got any dirt on it (or as some would call it, ground-type flavoring).

Before Hideo could fully process things, he felt someone patting him down. He expected it to be his Blissey’s hands patting him down, not another human’s.

Fortunately, no serious injuries; nothing stuck out for him “I...think I’m alright.”

He felt a wetness drip out his nose, onto his upper lip. Though he could take a guess at what it was, it would be clear to everyone else that his nose was bleeding. “Ah, jeez,” he muttered, trying to wipe the blood off with the back of his hand. At least his nose wasn't broken - well, it didn't feel broken anyways.

A large egg was shoved into his hand, courtesy of his Blissey. “I don’t know if an egg’ll stop this,” Hideo said, but his Blissey just maintained her stare, pushing it harder.

The Meowstic just watched, taking a bite out of the hotdog.

“Are you alright?” he asked the girl, as the Blissey began pushing the egg into his cheek, closer and closer to his mouth.

The egg shoved in his face was soon followed by a handkerchief stuffed under his nose. He could hear a few things hit the dirt as well - whatever they were, weren’t his. “Oh,” he muttered, “uh, thanks.”

The Softboiled egg soon reached his mouth, and he had no choice but to bite down on it - he couldn’t exactly breathe through his plugged and bleeding nose. At least the taste was neutral, and maybe he could’ve enjoyed it a little were it not for the awkward situation.

The Meowstic just stayed in his spot, watching while chowing down on the rescued hotdog.

“So, you alright?” Hideo asked. Best way out of this awkwardness was to divert attention from his bleeding, egg-consuming self. “I think she can give you an egg too.”

Between the egg being stuffed into his mouth, the handkerchief stuffed under his nose, and the soreness growing over his front-side, Hideo was having some trouble processing everything going on

It was not helped by the girl proclaiming that she'd lost her leg - with the same urgency as if she'd dropped her keys. He'd cleared up enough to take hold of the handkerchief with his own hand, but he was still at a loss for if she'd actually lost her leg, or if she meant something else.

With the Softboiled egg in his other hand, he could finally speak. "I'm, uh, not sure if I'd be any help, but my Pokemon can try." He faced where he knew his Meowstic was standing. "Miles? Help her out?"

The bipedal cat frowned, finishing off the hotdog with one big gulp. He moved from his spot, looking around for...whatever could be considered a leg. The Blissey joined in the search as well.

"So...you really lose your leg?" Hideo asked. He was starting to realize she probably didn't get dismembered just by running into him - that maybe this was a prosthetic or something.

Still, he wasn't sure. He couldn't really confirm it himself.

The Blissey looked at the girl’s stump, her tiny hand over her open mouth as she looked on in shock. Her search continued with renewed vigor, her will to help this girl walk again carrying her on.

The Meowstic brushed some leftover crumbs and ketchup on face, slowly continuing his search.

“Yeesh, that’s gotta be rough,” Hideo said, “I’d hate it if my leg flew off if I fell too hard.” He took another bite out of the egg, his nose-bleed stopping (though it didn’t clean up what was already on him).

With his two Pokemon preoccupied, Hideo didn’t react at all to the extended hand he couldn’t see. “I’m Hideo. I don’t exactly live here; I’m doing the whole gym circuit right now, so I kinda just travel from city to city.” He adjusted himself, sitting on his bottom facing Vicki. “I did live in Slateport before this, though.”

His Meowstic noticed something on the ground, lifting it up Psychically. It was indeed the girl’s prosthetic leg, though he didn’t quite know what it was, simply looking it over.

Hideo's head tilted at the mention of her other leg. "Oh? Both your legs are prosthetics?" He wasn't exactly able to check that for himself - and no Telepathic Pokemon around to correct or clarify for him.

"Yup! Got his badge too!" He'd have gladly taken it out and displayed it - if he had it on him. But that was back at his little camp back in Route 116. "It was a straight-up battle. My Dragonite and Oricorio against his Togekiss and Crobat.  I got to win with both my Pokemon still up, though my Dragonite took a beating."  Still, a solid win in his books.

"He was pretty nice to me too! He let my Rotomdex help me out so I didn't have to do the battle totally blind!" He would've struggled without its help - even with his Pokemons' training.

Just as Hideo was ready to describe his own experience living in Slateport, it sounded like Vicki spotted her leg. "Oh, good," Hideo said, "One of you two mind bringing it here?"

It got a shrug from the Meowstic who'd already lifted it up, floating it over to Vicki as he nonchalantly walked back to his trainer. The Blissey followed suit, though her attention was more towards Vicki, watching her and ready to help if the girl needed any.
