Melody had invited kyle lopez to spar with her as she wanted to train with cobalion as she fed him a Passho berry but a unique z-move has yet to manifest in it. So she figured who else to better push Cobalion's limits and force a new z-move to pop up out of nowhere than kyle? Besides, she also wanted to size him up to see how she measured up to him in an actual battle since she was going to challenge the E4 soon. [break][break]

Melody was in the middle of her gym, brushing the fur on his chest as he seemed to rather enjoy it despite his expression never changing.

a hoodie over his head and a rather comfortable set of clothes made him blend well with the general populace enough that he did not get hassled reaching melody's gym.

"yo."

he raises his hand as he enters the building as a greeting. looking around the place, he remembers that he hasn't really challenged melody's gym before on hindsight. he blames it on fighting a new sootopolis gym leader three times already.

the talonflame he brought had already seen the light of day, being lent to Stormy Silph once since he thought it would be nice to see an aggressive fire-type specialist an aggressive fire-type. he got good feedback from her concerning the pokemon at least.

"i brought strong pokemon like you asked." kyle doesn't usually use them, given their aggressive nature don't really mesh well with his passive style. "what weird thing are you up to now?"

he always gets invited to something mundane and casual. the gym wasn't the place for those most of the time though, so it's enough to arouse suspicion.

Cobalion was the first to notice kyle enter, and he did something strange Melody hadn't really seen him do with anyone else. He bowed to kyle? Was it like a sign of respect? I mean he did earn Terrakion's favor. [break][break]

"Yo!" she said waving eagerly to Kyle as he waltzed into her gym. "Well duh, why else would I asked you to bring an uber strong pokemon? We're gonna spar!" she told him "I need to limit test cobalion. He like...might resist at first, he usually doesn't fight for no reason." she explains as she scratched the back of her head. [break][break]

"But we need to get past that! Practice makes perfect right cobalion?" she says turning back to him as he stared at her. his expression still not changing from it's stone cold demeanor.

bewildered by the response of the legendary, kyle awkwardly tips his head forward for the coballion. it's weird since the entei that watches over him rarely does it, if ever.

his eyes shift from the legendary to the gym leader. forcing something like coballion to do things it wasn't meant to do raised questions, but if these pokemon can be asked to do mundane tasks, which he too is guilty, then he supposed there was no reason for him to wonder.

"well, if he's fine with it...?"

he takes one look at his pokeball and releases the shadow pokemon from its confinement. it immediately soars high above, doing various aerial maneuvers like an hyperactive dog taken out of its leash.

"you've heard of those pokemon that mutated during the slateport blackout event, right?"

surely, his wasn't the only one.

For once Melody actually did know what kyle lopez was talking about. After she had come back from her time with rocket, she activated the monkey neurons in her brain and started to read more and more into what rocket's deal once. It was a little bit too late but it was better late than never. [break][break]

She had heard of some rockets who were using Pokémon with Unnatural abilities and were extra aggressive than normal Pokémon. Especially a trainer known by the name of Cillian Quinn that for some reason rang a bell in Melody's head. The events around her abduction were still a bit blurry, but one thing she remembered was a strange black mist and Pokémon with bizarre abilities. [break][break]

"Yeah I've heard of them. Is yours's one?" she asked as Cobalion also took a glance at the Pokémon and noticed something unnatural about it and took a ready pose suddenly. "What's wrong C?" she said as she was startled by his sudden movement. [break][break]

He seemed ready to spar now, what had him so fired up?

just as coballion starts to act funny, kyle feels the pokeball shake violently. he tries to contain it, but before long, the shadow pokemon inside of it helps itself get out of its confinement.

"shit. what is it this time..."

the shadow talonflame immediately shoots high up, circling the ceiling of melody's gym. it makes its bird sounds aggressively, but kyle attributes it to its nature of being a shadow pokemon.

perhaps it sensed the coballion's intent, or perhaps it simply got excited to square off against a pokemon of a higher status than most of kyle's pokemon. regardless, it was clear that the coballion has the talonflame's interests.

from craning his head all the way up to watch his pokemon, he turns back to melody, looking as confused as the gym leader was.

"so, uh, yeah, um..."
