on their way, they eventually find a pokemon with his riolu's size. he stops his pace as he waits for an interaction between the two to happen, curious as to what his riolu was going to do.

it wasn't his own pokemon that does the first move, but the wild one.

the helioptile seemed agitated over nothing and decides to get his frustration out to the riolu. wolfgang thinks it's their fault for encroaching its territory, but ignores the matter by pretending to be on his phone to force the riolu to deal with it.

the fighting-type takes the opportunity without feeling malice from its trainer, or rather, ignoring it. it has another thing in its mind, which was to defend its trainer with blind loyalty.

its type advantage shows as it gets to a scuffle. a force palm forces the helioptile to the ground, wherein the wild pokemon shocks the riolu, singeing the ends of its fur.

wolfgang smells the scent of burnt fur, getting out of his phone just in time to see the riolu beating up the wild pokemon. it's a wet noodle fight at best with baby pokemon, but wolfgang just groomed his pokemon, and having it wrecked didn't seem like a good idea on hindsight.

he throws a ball, capturing the helioptile and ending the fight prematurely.
