Summer looked around as the walked to the bar, taking a seat as they reached the area. Looking over the counter, she thought before she ordered.

"Old fashion. Give it a holiday flare, please," she said.

It wasn't all the time she was in the mood for the holidays. Most of the time, she didn't care. But she'd indulge for now.

instead of words, a quick gesture to the bartender indicates that ana will be having the same. so, with a nod, the bartender leaves to tend to their drinks, leaving them to their own privacy.

her body tilts to face her partner.

"are you a fan of the holidays, summer?"

Summer watched the bartender leave, the two women remaining. She regarded Ana with a pleasant look before answering honestly.

"Not particularly. I find that as holidays come around, I get busier in my work. It's a bit of a pain, in my opinion. And you?"

ANA STONE

she nods.

"when i was younger."

the stones used to take marvelous vacations all over the world. to the coldest mountains to the warmest deserts, they visited them all.

but now?

"now...not so much. too busy, and even when i'm away, like now, i think about work."

she answers honestly as well, watching the bartender return with their drinks.

"but distractions help."

"You make yourself sound as if you're an old woman," Summer teased, raising one of her brows at Ana.

"Surely work hasn't drained you to the point of becoming one."

Of course, she had no room to talk. Didn't she just say the same thing? She related all too well to Ana, especially with work and her ambitions, it appeared.

"It seems we're alike, you and I. Too engulfed in our work to take pleasure in the finer things in life."

Summer took her drink, holding it out toward Ana for a cheers.

her tease is met with a chuckle and a tilt of her head.

"not yet. but i may be on my way."

taking her drink, she brings it to meet summer's before raising it to her lips for a long sip.

"it's never too late to start, summer."

her voice grows softer. quieter.

"we could start right now."

Summer paused, reflecting on Ana's words. Never too late to start. She thought back to the hour before, where she was alone with nothing but one of her fire-type's FLAME BODY to emit heat and keep her warm as she sat in the cold, watching the ice and snow.

And now, this woman presented an opportunity to enjoy life again. It was a tempting offer, especially with all she felt like she was suffering through. Her father, her brother, Casey...

"And what do you propose?" Summer asked.

"a night together."

the suggestion comes easily, almost as though it's exactly what the both of them need.

"just you and me."

A night together? That could mean multiple things, and Summer was interested to see which one Ana meant.

"I'm listening. What would this night have in store?"

after an unneeded sip of liquid courage, ana leans close, crossing certain boundaries to brush by summer's ear to whisper:

"just a bit of fun."

and as she pulls away, she reaches her summer's cheek before kissing her. but the kiss is quick, short, and teasing.

Summer sipped on her drink, raising up her brows until Ana took her cheeks with her hands. A bit of fun?

And then a kiss was placed on her lips, though it was gone in a matter of moments before she could react properly. Her eyes with wide with a look of surprise before she chuckled.

"Is that the game we're playing, Miss Stone?" she asked, reaching forward to rest her hand on her thigh.

"it could be. i'm sure we'd both play it well."

her voice, soft and sultry, travels the small distance between them. a small grin curls as she feels summer's hand on her thigh.

after a sip of her drink, she shakes her head, leaning forward once again to whisper:

"ana," not miss stone. at least not for this one night.

Summer couldn't help a small laugh from bubbling in her throat as Ana spoke. They seemed to be so alike in this way, able to play this game of cat and mouse until one of them bent and broke.

She wondered who it'd be.

"Ana," she corrected herself, leaning close to whisper in her ear.

"Summer. Might you lead me to your chambers to warm me up properly?"
