relief washed over her, as her shoulder was bumped to the side, rocking her a little on the stool.

she still had hardly touched her first drink. the idea of getting drunk around niko, especially without knowing him well enough, was hardly relaxing.

looking over at him, and forcing a light smile, she picked her drink back up and took a hefty sip.

”i’m kind of a slow drinker.”

he was already nearing the end of his second drink. she took a bigger sip of hers, until the bright red in her glass dwindled to its last quarter.

how well could niko hold his liquor? she figured well, but time would tell.

she was curious, actually.

”i usually just stay home, really. unless i’m working.” it was true. except, when she did go out, it was typically to much better places than this one.

on the surface, she was unaffected by his closeness.

”yup.” she took another sip, nearly draining the glass and setting it back down.

the many lives of nina that she’d shared had been carefully constructed by someone else. so, the mediocre truth tasted odd, and it came out slow.

”i... watch movies a lot.” and sleep. and she’d been trying out books finally, but the skill level was frustratingly low.

it was always fun to see someone defy expectations. like GABRIEL BLACK , kneading pizza dough in an apron in his kitchen.

the frequency of her sips from the crimson concoction in her glass were increasing, and she turned towards him more an inch or two, warming up a little maybe.
