Another day for her to pursue another adventure and today's adventure will be a musical one! Nia walks to the building where the Rhytmn Gym is located within the Sootopolis while humming a random tune. Due to the nature of the place, Nia can't help herself to feel musical despite having zero practical knowledge of any musical instrument. She understands music theory and history - That kind of subject can easily learn throughout the books and she has always been interested in classical music history with its prominent composer and their unique trait. She finished out all the things she needs and now she waits in the lobby for someone to pick her up.

The lobby is empty for the most part, ever since Sootopolis was raided by rocket. Many of the supporters of the league have since left the city making any form of league presence here unwelcomed. But Melody was a stubborn one, she was determined to fix things in her city with her own hands. [break][break]

A lone attendant stands at the front desk and once she notices Nia Acadia she springs to life, eager that someone was here and didn't seem like they wanted to vandalize the place. "Ah yes, Nia Acadia correct?" she asked as the lady was flipping through some papers on a clipboard. "Right this way. Melody's already set up for you. You brought your....Alolan Ninetails and Alolan sandshrew correct?" she asked to confirm the team she had selected. [break][break]

Once that was cleared up, the Attendant would hand Nia her security pass and gestured for her to go down the long corridor. [break][break]

As she walked down the long dark corridor, she'd eventually reach the main concert hall where Melody was standing in a lone spotlight on the stage playing the piano and Nia would learn she was the source of the music. Melody would perk up when she saw Nia enter the hall "Hi nia!" she said waving to the girl who stood opposite of her. [break][break]

She stood up and Nia would see Melody was dressed in a rather complex piece of clothing with gold accessories strewn about her hair and dress "Any questions you got for me?" she asked seemingly very eager to talk

As she paves her way through the long dark corridor followed by Nina and Mahiro as the melodic tone of the piano starts to showers her as she is approaching the lone spotlight where a woman waiting for her, stopping her play with the piano. Nia feels awe with the dress that she picks, a cute and elegant one that completely fitting to a woman like her. "I do, where did you buy that dress? It looks cute" Nia asks bluntly, completely missing the intention of her question that might be asking about the battle itself.

While her eyes inspect the dress, then she finally realized the intention after Nina nudging her nose to her side, trying to tell her something. "Ah! I really want to ask you a lot of things but this is not the right place since I am here for the Gym challenge. So, how and where do we start?" Nia asks, ready to follow her.

Melody grinned as she was excited to get a good old fashioned battle underway. She moved back on over to her Piano as she was ready to battle now and it seemed like nia was as well. "Then let's get this show on the road!" as she began to play a jollytune on the piano that slowly transitioned into an orchestra joining her. [break][break]

She tossed a pokeball quickly and sent out her first pokemon, her Lapras! "You have the first move miss Nia, I hope you wont disappoint me." as her fingers continued to play on the piano.

The first pokemon that she is going to face is Lapras, the same species as Chigusa - Which means, she should know to some certain extent what she can do. 'This can be quite tricky' Nia thought to herself. From the Pokemon that she brings to this challenge, none of them are able to give her an upper edge but she believes that Mahiro would be the better choice out of the two. Nia tosses out her first pokemon and reveals an Alolan Sandshrew to the field.

"Don't mind if I do that~" Nia smiles, snapping her finger as Mahiro understands what her trainer wants and performs a HAIL. While the ice shard should not affect both of them but it should be enough to limit the field of vision for both of them. However, Nia doesn't really worry about that as she has trained this kind of maneuver with Mahiro numerous times. Nia will be Mahiro's eyes while Mahiro will become Nia's hand.

"Oh silly me. I forgot something." she said as the music paused for a moment before a dramatic melody is played and part of the arena opens up exposing the water below. Her gym was over the ocean and she made sure to take advantage of the location to accommodate EVERY Pokémon. Including her own [break][break]

However Nia's Pokémon would still have platforms to jump around on to ensure that he was not put at a MAJOR disadvantage for this battle, wouldn't be fair otherwise! However Nia was surely a capable of handling the sudden change in terrain as she quickly made a move to change the weather to her advantage, while they hail wouldn't affect lapras it would make it a lot harder for lapras to see her opponent. "Lapras! Quickly! Use sparkle aria! wide spread wide barrage!" [break][break]

Lapras created several bubbles of water and fired them widespread but she had little faith that it would actually hit since she couldn't actually spot her opponent.

The sudden changes of the field startles her and truthfully ruined the plan that she made beforehand. She was planning to let Mahiro dig down and attack Lapras from a blind spot but with this kind of field, all she will get is drowning once she digs down the platform. Well, whatever... Nia tries to devise another plan and for now, if she is blocked to do something then she needs to cut the advantage gained by the Lapras and the only way to do so is to freeze it. However, she finds another problem with it - With the hailstorm that is currently going, the water is still not freezing and that is the only ice-move that Mahiro has. It would be different if Nina is on the field right now. That thought process lasts for less than a minute.

"Dodge!" Nia orders as she notices a ball of water flies towards Mahiro before bursting into multiple bubbles. Mahiro jumps avoiding then Nia thought of an idea, "Mahiro, from the direction of the ball, transform and roll out~" Nia orders as Mahiro curl herself up and performs GYRO BALL to the direction where the ball of water comes from.

She had made a strong intro and impression on melody during this challenge so far. With just one move she was able to take advantage of her Pokémon's natural talent to hide in the snow. Good. [break][break]

The bubbles from sparkling aria had missed and Lapras was suddenly counter attacked by a gyroball! Ugh, this hail was serving as the perfect cover for her sandshrew and she didn't really have an idea on how to overcome this one hurdle. Wait, gyro ball was a physical move! Melody had to act quickly "Thunderbolt when she makes contact lapras!" she ordered as sparks of electricity emerged from her body and released it into a burst around her as mahiro got close.

Nia has made a lot of various contingency plans upon what she could and couldn't do while battling with Mahiro, however one thing that she doesn't expect is the fact that Melody's Lapras knows Thunderbolt. As Mahiro approaches Lapras, a flash of thunder strikes upon her and stops her advance midway. Mahiro feels dizzy momentarily from being electrocuted but she quickly shakes her head to dismiss it. Part of her body shows some burn mark from the thunderbolt but she still stands up. "Mahiro! Are you okay!" Nia shouts, worried, about her condition. She really wants to win so bad, she really does - But if the win comes out from the price of her friend's life, she doesn't want that. She bits her lower lips in frustration, she bits too hard until a trickle of blood flows from her lower lips. Nia wants to say something but quickly gone quiet after seeing the determined look of Mahiro.

'I will see your valiant effort, Mahiro. You already make me proud' Nia thought to herself and give a signal to Mahiro to do her last move for this battle. No matter the outcome of her move, Nia will call back Mahiro and let her rest. Mahiro's claw shines and hardened as she moves in a discreet way where she utilizes the limited vision due to the hail. While the intensity of the hail has been reduced greatly as it will be ending soon - it still can be quite an annoyance. Once she get close to Melody's Lapras - Mahiro quickly unleashed an uppercut swing with METAL CLAW.

The tiny and agile pokemon leapt forward, the metal claw connecting with a swiftness that left both Lapras and Melody stunned for a moment as their eyes had to take a second to realize what was happening. "Damn that little fucker is fast!" she comments as the music rages on. [break][break]

"Lapras attack back with a sparkling aria! Quickly while he's still close!" she ordered as lapras leapt onto the water and began to sing, the ocean answered her call by creating an assortment of bubbles of various sizes slammed into Sandshrew in a barrage.

Nia holds herself back from fist-bumping after seeing how the claw manages to connect, when she wants to announce that she wants to end this battle - Mahiro quickly shakes her head vigorously, knowing what her trainer wants to do. Nia, understand that beneath her playful streak, Mahiro is someone who hates losing and surrendering right now would only make Mahiro angry at her. How foolish she was to almost forget about that fact, she decides to tighten her resolve once again and let the fight continue until she faints. The hail finally ends and the area visibility has been cleared, losing her any sort of upper hand.

Mahiro wants to continue the barrage of her claw but the Lapras quickly respond back to her attack and unleash a bubble attack from her singing. "Mahiro protect yourself!" Nia shouts as Mahiro curls and her body shines as she uses IRON DEFENSE to endure the barrage of the bubble. After the barrage is over, Mahiro still can move and she quickly unfurls herself and rain the field with another HAIL once more!

The hail strategy again? No one really mixed it up creatively anymore did they, she was going to have to push her and her pokemon a bit wasn't she. "Alright lapras! Let's give them a move that cant miss! Hyper voice into the hail!" she shouts as her lapras shouts with her in sync already knowing what Melody's next idea was. [break][break]

Lapras's voice echoed throughout the arena and assaulted the challenger and her partner's ears. "I hope that wasn't the only strategy you two had!" she grinned as she continued to play the piano and Lapras followed her lead.

The piercing voice that is going to be emitted from Lapras forces her to close her ears but she doesn't let Mahiro stay there and let themselves get hit. Knowing how there is water beneath the platform, she can use it as an advantage to block the travel of the sound that can hit Mahiro. Mahiro stares at her eyes and nods to understand what Nia wants before she DIG to the ground and stabs herself to the platform while holding her breath.

"Well, I am a firm believer of rather being the jack of all trade and master of none. I prefer to sharpen one blade that I have to its most sharpened state" Nia grinned back while squinting through the hail storm to determine the location of the Lapras then let out a whistle. Coming from under the platform beneath the Lapras - Mahiro emerges as she rolls like a meteor ball while performing GYRO BALL.
