For a man who is supposed to be avoiding stress, Mars’ ever-busy schedule tells an entirely different tale. Changes had been made, much had been arranged, and yet it’s doubtful that anyone else would call the situation ideal if they knew what’s at stake. Mars himself, however? Out of his plethora of talents, the greatest may just be the way he always acts as if his life is ever so perfect.

”How are things looking, Ariel? Is our guest here yet?” It’s while sipping on a cup of coffee that the banker addresses his personal assistant. Paying little mind to the professional make-up artists who work on his hair so it looks perfect for the commercial they’re supposed to be filming in a few minutes.

Ever one to maximise his time, today’s appointment at the POG Productions studio has been paired with meeting a certain foreign CEO, since apparently the man is interested in having Mars invest in his company. So, why no test how he does with this sort of thing, no?

In the rarefied circles that corporate executives, aristocrats, and celebrities ran in, Athanasios had often found that there were two broad approaches taken when it came to introductions. First, bombast; Making a grand entrance with as much pomp and ceremony as one could conceivably arrange, to dazzle and impress all those that might bear witness. A rather juvenile tactic, in his eyes, as it reeked of a dearth of self-confidence. Why rely on flash and thunder, when one’s own personality can be entrancing enough?[break][break]

The second, and the one that he himself favoured, was the natural approach; Simply arrive, as any other individual might, and allow the subtle shift in the swells and eddies of attention and conversation to alert others to your presence - A shark gliding into the waters, smooth and gracile, and ever so deadly, but quiet. [break][break]

“-dispatched members of our Assessment and Retrieval division to Fallarbor as requested, my Lord. Will there be anything else?”[break][break]

The limousine slid so smoothly along the road that Athanasios was hard pressed to tell that it was in motion at all - A factor that had been one of the main reasons he had opted for this particular model, given that he needed as little disturbance as possible when engaged in his current task, as he so often was when travelling. A gloved hand passed unhurriedly along the length of bared steel, the whetstone ringing in a rasping, ringing tone as it caressed the razor edge of his House’s heirloom longsword. The voice that spoke over it was as polished as the ancient metal, and every bit as cool. “No, Dominique, that will be all for now. Send progress reports in two hours, and hold my calls until then.”[break][break]

“Yes, my Lord.”[break][break]

Tapping the console on his left, he ended the call and set aside the equipment he had been using to tend to his blade, ensuring that each piece was secure. Turning to Anastasia, the Gardevoir that had been sitting calmly at his side in polite, patient silence, the young noble offered her a smile. “It seems that we are here, my dear. Let us see what Martin del Mar has to offer us, shall we?” [break][break]

The elegant pokemon uttered a soft sound of agreement, flashing a sense of cool indifference into her partner’s mind - She was not expecting much, it seemed. [break][break]

Stepping out from the sleek, futuristic car, Athanasios offered Anastasia a gloved hand, which was duly accepted with polite gratitude. From there, they made their way towards the reception, where they were directed to where the make-up station that their host was currently ensconced. [break][break]

Moving with stately grace, human and pokemon both comported themselves with the inherent, unshakeable dignity and confidence of those assured of their own superiority, every motion elegant and refined. “Mister del mar. A pleasure to meet you in the flesh. This is Anastasia, one of my partners.” With a small, bright smile curving his pale lips, Athanasios turns a leather-clad hand to indicate the pokemon at his side, the lines of gold embedded in the glove glinting in the light as the Gardevoir executed a perfect curtsey. Judgements come naturally among people of status and wealth, but while Mars is and will always be an incredibly judgemental man, he’s not here to flaunt or display how superior he is to anyone. There’s no need for such things, and ultimately, from the banker’s perspective they’re nothing but detrimental when it comes to situations like these.

So, when Athanasios Valentine finally shows up at the studio, the smile POG Bank’s CEO gives him is one calm and confident – the radiant sort of smile that could only belong to someone like Martín del Mar. ”Mr. Valentine, it’s good to meet.” The handshake is one firm and short, lasting the period of time that it takes for his gaze to wander from Athanasios’ own to his pokémon. ”A fine choice, I have a couple of Gardevoir myself.”

Being mostly a Psychic type specialist, of course Mars approves, but before the conversation can be derailed towards such topics, an announcement is made about how they will begin filming shortly.

”Walk with me. Ever been to a set before? Other than for interviews, that is.”

The words come as nonchalantly as the soft laugh that follows them, as if within him there were a complete and utter lack of discomfort. Which, honestly, may just be true, since Mars always seems to behave as if he owns the very ground he walks on – in this case, that much is also true.

As they approach the set, a pink-tailed Meowth joins them.
