It would likely be the cause of no small degree of confusion, if it were to be known that Lord Athanasios of House Valentine, CEO of Reign Industries, was cleaning up a beach - With his own hands, even, and in the company of an individual that was rather less upper crust than might be expected. [break][break]

Also she kept calling him Will, which would confuse almost anyone. Still, for those that truly knew him, this would hardly be the cause for the batting of an eye - Athanasios was far from a stranger to hard work, physical labour or otherwise, and he was not so far removed from the common people as it appeared. [break][break]

With a clear plastic refuse bag in his left hand, and a trash picker in his right, the pale noble made his way along the beach, working at an industrious pace. Clad in stylish red and black swimming trunks, despite the decidedly chill air, he seemed indifferent to the admiring glances that his obsessively maintained form drew - His attention was fixed upon his work, and upon his companions. Anastasia, his Gardevoir, glided gracefully along at a polite distance, close enough that she could intervene if necessary, but far enough away so as to not be suffocating. Her sole concession to the beach setting was a large, floppy-brimmed hat, which sported a black ribbon tied about it.[break][break]

Placing the latest piece of garbage into the bag - A ghastly medley of wet cardboard, food, and vague, indiscernible organic matter - he straightened, looking to Georgette with a slight curve of his mouth. “So how are you settling in, Gigi? Not finding it too difficult or overwhelming in a new region, I hope?”[break][break]

Georgette had been truly delighted when, upon showing up for some volunteer work, she had somehow spied a familiar face in the crowd - a man, once a boy, who had spent time on her family's farm in a region which now seemed so distant. A hug and cheek kiss later and the pair were seen working together along the shoreline, their ambling pace occasionally broken to poke a pieces of trash that required more wrangling than a simple stab from a trash picker.

Speaking animatedly, her hands occasionally lifting to motion and emphasise specific points as she recounts memories with her companion, Georgette's lips purse at the question which is posed to her. "No," she answers with a shake of her head, puffy white curls bouncing airily with the action, "not too overwhelming. But everything is different! Sometimes I miss home, you know? Especially the food! The pastries here aren't half as good as back at home."

Georgette gives a little dramatic wrinkle of her nose at that final statement, her antics washing away like sunlight spilling between parted clouds to abruptly exclaim, "Look, Will!" Her trash picker momentarily forgotten, and indeed dropped on the ground, she bends over and retrieves a nacreous shell sticking out from the sand; giving it a little dusting off to remove a few stray grains of sand she excitedly show it to Athanasios.

A soft laugh drifts over the waves at the mention of the lacklustre pastries, amusement glittering in the vivid blue of Athanasios’s eyes. “Ah, yes. It is little wonder that Hoennite patisseries found little success in Kalos, no? I can import some for you, if you like. It may ease the homesickness some.” [break][break]

Anastasia does not need the glance sent her way to act, as she leverages the forgotten picker up via a subtle application of telekinesis, smoothly resuming where Georgette left off. Leaning over to inspect the proffered shell with open curiosity, the aristocrat makes a low sound of appreciation within his throat, nodding in approval. “It is most lovely, indeed. From an Omanyte, do you think? You should keep it, Gigi - We could work it into a fine piece of jewellery for you, or it would make a handsome ornament in its own right.”[break][break]

Gesturing across the golden sands with a languid motion of his trash picker, the cheap plastic rendered an imperial scepter in his noble hand, he remarks, “One can find beauty even amongst the detritus of humanity. I doubt the louts that left all this mess here would have appreciated it as much as you do, dear.” [break][break]

"I think maybe it is Clamperl," the woman predicts, her words carefully enunciated. She then declares with a self-possessed authority, "You are right. An ornament." With that decided, Georgette then laughs at her companion's declaration, her gaze sweeping over the yet trash-ridden beach.

"How could anyone not find beauty? Home in Snowbelle is just snow, snow, snow! But here, there is this," she lifts the shell for emphasis. "Well," she utters, pausing for a beat, "Maybe this is not beautiful." She nudges a nearby can and laughs anew before actually bending down this time to pick up the trash and stow it in the provided bag. Suddenly seeming to remember her own trash picker, she exclaims a soft "Oh!" and reaches out to retake the telepathically held stick, her timbre appreciative when she thanks the nearby Gardevoir for holding it up.

Lightly tugging Athanasios along by the elbow to restart their stroll along the shoreline, Georgette asks cheerfully, "What are you doing in Hoenn?"

Save his money? Coming from almost anyone else, that statement would have come off as disingenuous. The finances from either House Valentine or Reign Industries alone would catapult him far, far up the rankings of the world’s richest individuals, and with both combined, well…[break][break]

“You are, as ever, Gigi, as sweet as the pastries you so love.” Considering the matter for a moment with pursed lips and a slight tilt of his fine jawline, he wonders, “Do you think the ingredients would make a great deal of difference in the end result? I imagine the quality of the dairy and eggs would have an impact.” [break][break]

Turning from his perusal of the beach to inspect the mysterious shell once more, Athanasios taps the knuckle of his foremost finger against his chin, his mien thoughtful. “You think so? I am sure we could find a marine biologist to make certain of the matter. It is an exquisite shade of blue, whatever form it took in life.” [break][break]

A brief, brilliantly boyish grin flashes to life upon the man’s face, the roguish expression gone as quick as lightning. “Ah! But a Slateport native would look upon the beach and say, ‘Home in Slateport is just sand, sand, sand!’” The smooth, alabaster expanse of his brow creases with shadow as he frowns, tilting his head down to look upon an offending length of seaweed that has dared to tangle itself with his toes. Shaking it off in a dismissive manner, he follows along in an amiable fashion, allowing himself to be pulled by his enthusiastic friend. [break][break]

Waving his picker in a vague fashion - a can speared upon it, soon to be sentenced to The Bag - he replies with an airy, “Oh, the usual. Expanding the business, charming the locals, delving into forbidden and occult mysteries. I keep myself busy.” Nudging Georgette playfully in the shoulder, he asks, “What of you, my cottony companion?” [break][break]

Her self-assured ruse is quickly given up as she begins to giggle, and with a nod of agreement she continues, "Yes, I think you are right. There is no better milk than from back home, you know." With a wink, she adds, "Especially from our farm, no?"

As they walk Georgette idly runs her thumb across the edge of the brilliant blue shell in her grasp, a little hum sounding from her throat at Athanasios's suggestion of a marine biologist. Slyly, she suggests, "You could just take my word for it. I was right about the rain when we went to collect those wooloo, you know. Not a drop on us. I bet I'm right this time too." She had been, in fact, altogether wrong about the rain - resulting in two soaked youths, a bout of chest cold, and an utter denial of the weather scenario that day which continued well into the present.

With a nod as if emphasising the finality of her assessment, Georgette slips the seashell into her pocket, her hands moving in a now well-practiced manner of spearing a piece of trash and depositing it into the bag at her hip.

"'The usual'," she repeats with a laugh. "You are the only person I know who wants to find occult and forbidden mysteries. You should have had your fill of mysteries every time we had to chase down the skiddo." With an idle tick of her fingers she counts off for Athanasios's benefit, "How did that Gogoat get on top of the barn? How did the Miltank get inside Papa's car? Why must the Mudsdale only back up instead of turning around like a normal pokemon! Mysteries enough!"

A decided warmth of familial affection colours Georgette's expression at the question posed to her, her shoulder lightly bumping against Athanasios's in turn. Spearing a bit of net which she twines around the end of the trash picker and lifts, the woman answers after a moment's pause, "I wanted a change of things. I thought, 'Georgette, if you do not leave now, for a little while, you never will'."

"So I came here, yes? Well, I moved to Slateport, in an hotel presently. There are so many people, and no one knows my name for once!" Biting lower lip momentarily, as if uncertain whether to continue, she then does so in a soft, self-conscious voice, "And I wanted to do something that was mine, yes? I would like to start my own breeding program, I think. Good, companion pokemon. I want people to say 'Oh! This one was bred by Georgette Bluebottle, you know hers have the best natures.'"

"You are what you eat..." Athanasios muses in a slow, thoughtful manner, looking down at his cottony friend in a speculative manner. "How many Wooloos did it take to become one with their fluffiness? Is this why you have a farm, to have an endless supply of hapless, cloudy victims to devour?" Tapping his finger just beneath his left eye, he winks conspirationally, as if privy to a dark and terrible secret, though the nascent smirk that curls the corner of his mouth belies any effort at a somber mien. "All that cottony goodness hides a black and devilish heart, I see." Dropping his hand and the psuedo-menacing air abrutply, he smiles, the spread of his lips as smooth and natural as the breaking of dawn. "Of course! It is known across the lands that your farm is the very best."[break][break]
