slateport park had a new special attraction in the winter months. as it was frozen over due to the climate, it made for very easy ice skating. and francie, in her free time, sometimes liked to go down to the park with her lycanrocs and just explore.

currently, she was using lyonel and louie to help balance her. how silly she must have looked with louie the dusk lycanroc helping to hold her up by her butt and lyonel the midnight lycanroc holding her hand to keep her steady.

but she got the hang of it! she got the hang of it enough that her lycanrocs and their rocky talons were jogging along with her while on the ice.

of course, she wouldn't be francie if she didn't accidentally bump into somebody.

End of the year is coming up and Nia loves to fill her time with winter-related activities as she is propelling herself within the ice rink and maneuvering herself that almost making people mistake her as a professional ice skater. Mahiro, Alolan Sandshrew, skates right next to her trainer without any effort. "Relaxing isn't it Mahiro?" Nia asks Mahiro and she answers it with a happy cry. However, that thought suddenly got disturbed as someone clashed with her. She would have fallen if it wasn't for her automatic defense mechanism on her body where she quickly shift her gravity center and her leg positioning to rebalance herself before falling and capture the person that crashed on her from falling.

"Whoa, are you okay?" Nia asks her worriedly, falling to the rink would be really painful and she doesn't wish that to her. "Do you need some help on how to stop while skating? I can teach you that if you want" Nia offers help to teach her how to stop.

once again she is apologizing. because she apparently can't stop apologizing when she does something wrong. but the other woman's offering to help her learn how to stop and francie's eyes light up like a sunny morning sky.

"who really?! that'd be dope, actually."

where she got her lingo is anybody's guess, she's been to too many regions and is far too easily influenced to pinpoint any one region or person to blame.

"like, i can stand, and i can go forward, but coming to a stop still completely confuses me. i see most people like, doing a slide thing, but i always just end up on my keister when i try it."

Nia listens to what she has to say and nod occasionally to give reinforcement to the fact that she is actually listening to her and not blanking out while she is conveying the problem. Her brain starts to turning trying to form instructions on how to overcome her problem while listening and she thought of something. "Ah yeah, braking can be quite tricky business. Especially if you were in full speed" Nia notes trying to look around the people that skates around them. "The most basic stops is the snowplough stop. This stop can be done either with one foot and both feet. To do a snowplough stop, start by pushing the flat part of the blade and scraping the ice. Then, push one foot out, put pressure on the flat part, and bend the knees." Nia starts to give out an instruction but then she realized how it can be quite confusing if it is just a word alone.

"Let me show you how to do it" Nia starts to skate around and try to demonstrate how to do it as clear as possible.

francie returns the nodding and 'uh-huh'ing favor, listening to the words that come from nia but as she tries to imagine it, she fails, epically, and slowly her face starts to sweat when she realizes maybe nia might want her to try it out.

thankfully, nia's demonstrating what to do instead. which helps francie, the visual learning princess^TM greatly. she watches, intently, as do her lycanrocs by her side. as nia's demonstration ends, francie nods with vigor and attempts a few stops of her own.

she feels, finally, but the end, that she's getting it. at one point she'd flipped and nearly toppled over on the ice. but! she only fell over twice out of the six stops she tried. with excitement and a bright smile, she looks to nia.

"i got it that time!" and then suddenly she's purposing to collide with nia, to give her a great big hug of appreciation. "thank you so much!! seriously, i don't know where i'd be without you."

leaning away, her arms retract and she's still beaming wide. "probably freezing my bootie cheeks off!"

Watching how she is gradually getting the hang of stopping with her skate, Nia can't help to not suppress her grin. Nia is a pursuer of knowledge and there is no more rewarding feeling than the knowledge that she has gotten has been proven right with her own eye. Apparently, she is not the only one who got excited about her success as the woman shows her gratitude toward her through a crashing bear hug. If she hasn't quickly shifted her center of gravity while positioning her feet for better support upon the clash - Nia would have fallen down. "Whoa, calm down princess." Nia let out laughter, hugging her back and giving her a bit squeeze from the hug.

She finally moves back and pries herself off from the hug. "You know what they say, a failure is a great teacher to achieve success. I am sure even if I didn't help you, you will eventually get the hang of it by yourself" Nia waves her hand before giving out her hand for a handshake. "My name is Nia, by the way." Nia introduces herself, doesn't want to keep calling the woman with 'you'

after the bear hug is finished, francie releasing her hold and keeping herself upright, she gives nia a warm smile. it is only as nia introduces herself that france realized that she really hadn't introduced herself the whole freaking time.

"ohmygosh," how embarrassing! "i'm francie! wowee, i'm so sorry i forgot to introduce myself. supe' rude, my b."

each word's delivered with a small laugh and a little tint of pink to her cheeks.

her lycanroc boys were keeping themselves busy by playing in the snow and on the ice, making designs and helping some of the smaller children get their ground when they fell. because they're pokémon after their trainer's own heart.

Nia can't help herself giggle listening to the pattern of her speech. It reminds her of a young girl that often visits her library with her mother. Mahiro, who has been staring at the two Lycanroc frolicking around playfully, is finally can't stop herself and join together with those two. Nina comes out from her Pokeball and starts to chase Mahiro like a chaperon she is. Nia witness all of that and just let out a short giggle. "Francie, is it? Your Lycanroc are cute, do they have a name?" Nia asks curiously while standing still on the ice surface with her skate. "I also bit curious about what you are doing here despite not being able to skate?"
