The sound of loud thumps pulls Matilda and Sarin away from their snacks. Metis doesn't even flinch, still deep in his meditation.[break][break]

The Trainer and her Taillow step carefully across the stones to where they hear the noise, and peek over a large rock. About twenty feet away is a large Primeape repeatedly punching a giant boulder, his fists leaving giant divets in its makeshift punching bag. The two silently lower themselves back behind the rock and tiptoe back over to Metis. Whether he was angry or just practicing, they both figured it best to leave a grumpy Primeape alone.[break][break]

Eventually Metis finishes up his meditation break, and the three of them head back out along the path. "Sarin, fly around and scout for any Pokemon we might come across, okay? We definitely don't want to stumble across another guy like that without a heads up." Sarin nods and takes off, flying in large circles over his companion's heads, keeping watch for any nearby Pokemon.

Spotting a pink and black blob off to the left of the path, Sarin swoops down and alerts Matilda, attempting to lead her back a bit. She frowns at Sarin and hands her bag to Metis before gesturing him to move back. Sarin looks over to where he'd spotted the wild Pokemon, and Matilda creeps up to see it, using the rocks as cover. [break][break]

Sarin flies over and lands on her shoulder, hoping to get a better look along with his Trainer. Together the two spot the large Bewear scavenging a small tree for berries. Mattie giggles softly, the sight too cute to...bear! Get it?? Bear...Bewe...eh, she made herself laugh and that's all that mattered. As she turns to leave her foot slips on a loose rock and she nearly falls. Though she manages to catch herself in time, she doesn't manage to keep her feet under her silently and the Bewear's snuffling ceases. His large head whips around and Mattie's grin is instantly gone. Her face pales and she continues backing away moving as quickly and silently as possible.[break][break]

Metis peeks his head around a bend in the path a little ways back. Locking eyes with his Trainer, he points to a small rock a few feet away from her that she could maybe possibly *barely* fit behind. A curious grunt from the nearby Bewear sends Matilda scrambling for the rock Metis suggested as Sarin takes off into the sky, drawing the Bewear's attention to him. The wild Pokemon watches the small bird for a moment, then lumbers over the rock the two had initially been sneaking a peek from. He sniffs the ground where Mattie had fallen and takes one slow, sweeping look around, then heads off back to his berry bushes.[break][break]

Curled up in the smallest ball she could contort herself into, it takes Sarin landing on her for Mattie to open her eyes again. With the bear gone, she exhales and relaxes. "Thank you so so much, little guy," she whispers to Sarin, giving him a gentle pet along his head. Sarin enjoys the love for a moment, but Metis quickly shows up and sets Matilda's bag down next to her. "Woof, that was close. Let's keep on keeping on, yeah?"[break][break]

Wings brush against Matilda's cheek as Sarin takes off once more, scouting the path for them as Mattie and Metis keep an eye on either side of the path.

Pass on Bewear (2/3) <3

Sarin gives the all clear as they near the end of the path and both Matilda and Metis breathe a little easier. Until they turn around, that is. [break][break]

A few dozen yards from the end of Jagged Pass Mattie realizes Metis isn't right next to her anymore. She turns around, figuring he'd just slowed to avoid a loose rock or something, but no - she sees Metis facing off with a floating rock nearly the size of him. It seems as though everyone follows the lead of Mattie's heart and pauses, no one reacting. Sarin chirps and flies around his two companions to pull their attention off the wild Pokemon and onto him. He lands and does his best to speak to them, but neither Mattie nor Metis understand the chirping language of the Taillow. The Solrock, however, hovers over to Sarin and the bird surprisingly makes no move to leave. [break][break]

Realizing to some degree what Sarin had been trying to tell them, Matilda steps toward the Solrock and gently holds out a hand, waiting for the Solrock to close the last twelve inches to touch her fingertips so she doesn't spook it. It does, only hesitating briefly, but it seems to understand Sarin's chirps better than anyone else present and closes the gap to gently touch the Trainer.[break][break]

A flood of confusing, jumbled thoughts and memories flood through Mattie's mind. Some were hers and others were...definitively not. Doing her best to fight the urge to recoil from the floating rock she lets the confusion flow until it starts to make a bit more sense - when the Solrock actually pulls away from her. [break][break]

Being an unreadable rock Matilda has absolutely no idea what the Solrock is feeling in the moment, but it seems to be more comfortable in her presence if nothing else. Glancing to the end of the path, Mattie looks back to the Solrock and asks, "Hey, wanna come with us? There's less rocks where I live, but I do have a nice garden, and you can come inside on rainy days and hang out next to the fireplace to stay dry." The Solrock looks over at Sarin who chirps a few times, almost as though he's translating. The Solrock turns back to Matilda but doesn't move other than that.[break][break]

Tapping her finger to her chin, Mattie thinks for a moment before procuring one of her two remaining Pokeballs. "You could have one of these," she offers. It tilts quizzically, squinting at the Pokeball. "It would keep you safe and sound so when there's no sun you can...take a nap, basically. It pauses time." The Solrock tilts the other direction. "You would essentially have sun every moment for the rest of time," she rephrases, not sure how to explain the concept any differently.[break][break]

That certainly got its attention. The Solrock floats toward her, inspecting the Pokeball. She holds it out and it floats backward just out of reach. "It's safe, I promise." To show the Solrock, she quickly puts Metis back into his ball and then releases him. "See?"[break][break]

Once it's sure Metis is unharmed form his brief trip, the Solrock allows Matilda to boop it away. She immediately releases it again to show it that its capsule is a safe place. Sarin chirps and flies in small circles around the Solrock before landing on it. Matilda giggles at the two and their antics, then heads out of Jagged Pass with the Solrock bobbing happily behind her.
