Petalburg Woods was known for being difficult to navigate through. The extremely thick foliage encasing it blotted out most sunlight, making everything look dark and gloomy even in the middle of the day. As a result, it gave off kind of a creepy vibe that made it the subject of many ghost stories over the years.

"Here we are, chat! Now, let's try to find a Ghost!" A young, bespectacled woman clad in a dragon onesie said out loud, while recording herself on her Rotom Phone. She was being accompanied by a small Deino that scouted the area up ahead with its keen sense of smell. "They say that Phantump are actually dead children that once got lost in the forest. Their wandering spirits are reborn as Pokémon after possessing rotten tree stumps. Today we're gonna find out if that rumor is true!"

For those wondering, yes, Andrea was indeed streaming a live ghost hunt on Splash.tv. And she was adding extra flair to her dialogue, because she needed to keep her stream entertaining for the whopping 12 people currently watching it. Out of those 12 viewers, two were her own parents, one was a distant cousin of hers from Kalos, eight were bot accounts, and the last one was some weirdo who kept sending donations and asking her in chat to show her 'boots and vegan'... whatever that meant.

Anyway, the dragon-hooded girl kept traversing the dark woods in search of a Ghost, a lost child, or perhaps both. Surely nothing at all could possibly go wrong!

Aaron was actually napping in Petalburg woods. After a rather tense Christmas and New Year's, he left a little early with much hugs and tear and snot stained shirts from his older brother. And begging. Lots of begging to be careful...not to stay or anything. At least Keenan had more faith in his abilities than their parents. Despite the fact that his mom witness him earning the Knockout Badge before they even started their journey. The five foot five blonde was up in a tree, and had woken up to someone talking loudly. Looking down, he saw someone in a Pokemon onesie. She started spouting about Phantumps.

"It's true." Was the only thing he said from above her. A tree nearby moved to show his signature Trevenent. Who also hid his stuff. The ghost pokemon reached up and helped Aaron down. The blonde looked at her with unimpressed, if stoic, eyes and facial expression. He didn't like these types of people...trying to use tragedies for social media attention. But there was always that inkling that maybe she wouldn't that obnoxious.

"Aiyeee! A Ghost!" The dragon-hooded girl cried out in shock, dropping her Rotom Phone in the process, as she was clearly startled by the sudden voice she'd heard. Having not seen the boy on the tree yet, her first thought was that she was being stalked by a malicious spirit!

Andrea soon saw the boy and his Trevenant, however, jovially waving at the two. "Oh, a trainer. Or are you the spirit of a lost child...?" She mused, reaching out to poke the kid's shoulder with her index finger, relieved to find out that he was made of solid material. "I can touch you, so that means you're alive!" She asserted, before kneeling down to retrieve her device, accidentally pressing a button on the unlocked screen. "Oh no! I ended the stream on accident! Now my viewers will never find out about my finding!" She fretted.

"Oh well, I can just write a blog about it later!" Andrea almost immediately added, getting over it as if it were a very minor inconvenience. Her attention soon shifted to the Ghost-type Pokémon accompanying the younger trainer. "So, is it really true? Were you really a human in your past life?" She eagerly asked the Trevenant, her face practically gleaming with excitement.

"Boo." Why not play around a bit, and act like the big kid that was his Trevenant once in a while? Eh, he didn't change his voice tone or anything, so it was pretty monotone and could even be interpreted as sarcastic. He just stared at her blankly as she poked his shoulder, just to make sure that he wasn't some spirit or ghost. "You can touch ghost pokemon. Does that mean they're alive? Or in purgatory?" Well...most of them you can touch safely. Others, not so much. And others still, you'd want to stay well away from. Not that it would deter him in any way. The blonde couldn't help but snort at the fact she dropped her phone and stopped her stream.

Then she asked his Tree if it was really true. The Trevenant just laughed at her. Shrugging, Aaron chimed in. "I got that response too when I asked him back when he was a Phantump. Anyways, it's incredibly rude and some superstitious people would even consider it bad luck to find the origins of such Pokemon. Ghost-types are not known to have happy pokedex entries." And were extremely morbid in some cases. Possibly why they fascinated him so much. Or even because of his past...well, shortly before his family left Olivine at least.

Andrea's ruby-colored eyes sparkled when the boy cleverly mentioned that Ghost-type Pokémon could be tangible too. "Oh, that's a really good point! Are Ghost Pokémon truly dead, or are they alive? I always thought of it as some kind of reincarnation. Then again, most Ghost Pokémon are able to breed. When a baby Ghost hatches from its Egg, is it considered dead even though it was just born? Or does the soul of its previous life enter the Egg just before it hatches? Or is the Egg itself a metaphor for the afterlife?"

Needless to say, they had opened a whole can of Wormadam with that train of thought. After she was done babbling, the dragon-hooded girl took a deep breath, before bowing her head in an apologetic manner. "I'm sorry, Mr. Trevenant. I wasn't trying to be rude. I was just curious. You see, I've been trying to solve the mystery of human-Pokémon transformation for a while now. Please don't Curse me with bad luck." The young woman pleaded, although at the mention of being Cursed, her Deino jumped in front of her, ready to protect her if the need arose.

It seemed his remarks did not deter the young lady attempting to be a dragon. He wasn't that philosophical. Or a Pokemon researcher. "Don't know. Not the person to talk to on that. A Pokemon Researcher, maybe a Pokemon Nurse, would be better sources of information." She did seem at least slightly remorseful for asking such personal questions though. His big tree friend just laughed again and gently patted both her and her Deino on the heads. It takes a lot to get under the Trevenant's skin. Er...bark? Going around a tree, he took all his stuff that was there and started to walk. "Petalburg Woods isn't a great place for ghosts anyways. Best place is definitely Mt. Pyre. Otherwise Mauville Hills is the closest place." With that, he continued on unless she interrupted him or otherwise give a very stupid remark...

The Trevenant slowly lowered its creepy, wooden claw of a hand towards Andrea's head, giving off a menacing vibe. Chomper bared his draconic teeth and hissed threateningly, thinking that his trainer was about to get harmed, only to whimper in fear when he saw another hand coming towards him. Luckily, no women or dragons were to be harmed tonight. The spectral tree simply gave them both headpats!

"Mt. Pyre, huh? I've heard of that place. I mean, everyone in Hoenn has." Andrea mused, while following after the boy. She wasn't ready to part with him just yet, it seemed. She had a lot more she needed to know. "What's Mauville Hills, though? Mauville doesn't have any hills. What would a Ghost be doing on top of a hill anyway?"

While Trevenant was certainly no pushover, able to go toe to toe with even a gym leader's battle Pokemon at the beginning of his little journey, he was not a malevolent tree...menacing as he looked. And attempt to act to scare the crap out of people. Aaron listened to the young lady, evidently not hearing about Mauville Hills. "The second floor of Mauville City. Dunno why ghosts and other Pokemon like it there. Mauville is...interesting to say the least." Dome and all. Though not all of it was under the city sized dome. Such as where he talked to Gym Leader Doug Sulliven. Aaron really hoped she didn't treat him as an answer to everything. Ghost type specialist as he was, he didn't know everything. "What are you doing here, anyways? You were on your phone earlier, and complained about a stream being lost?" Social media...a true curse if there ever was one...

"I see, I see! So the second floor is, like, haunted!" Andrea nodded in understanding, keeping a mental note to make Mauville Hills the next stop in her Ghost hunting regiment. Still, a part of her couldn't fathom how such a bustling city teeming with life could ever attract the attention of the undead. Didn't spirits usually prefer quiet and desolate places? Another mystery to add to the pile...

The pajama-clad woman snapped out of her silent musings when the boy inquired what she was doing in the woods. "Oh yeah, I stream on splash.tv every now and then. My internet name is dragonborn27." She explained. "I was looking for Ghost Pokémon, particularly Phantump, since they're said to live in forests, and I thought I'd let my viewers watch it live. Holding my phone up all the time was so tiring, though!" She complained, apparently having second thoughts about her whole streaming gig.

"I guess. There's also a fair amount of gardens and stuff, so maybe they like it there too." He shrugged and slowed down a little, but kept walking. They were in a separate, near abandoned part of town. He hasn't visited there, but maybe he should one soon. He was something of a wonderer these days. The odd woman said she streamed on splash.tv every now and then, even told him her internet name. Looking at her and her getup, it was obvious that she was either crazy or juvenile and never grew up. Looking away, he continued to walk. She voiced her issues with her phone, and it made him wonder if she even knew how to do a good video let alone a stream. And doing something interesting enough to attract viewers was a tough thing to do, looking for ghosts was not something that was going to attract them.

"There are various holders that would make that easier. And if you want more viewers and subscribers, ghost hunting probably isn't the best of things to latch on new viewers. Even among ghost-type enthusiasts like me. Just a suggestion, but maybe try something that's popular that also interests you. And hope that your personality and/or jokes goes over well with people. Once you get a larger viewer base, then maybe experiment a little on what type of streams you do. Ghost hunting is very boring." Even if you're after ghost-type Pokemon.

"Hmmm, something that's popular..." Andrea hummed in deep thought, checking her Rotom Phone once again. To be specific, she browsed splash.tv's homepage in order to see what the most viewed streams were. "Belle Delphox's hot tub streams are always trending, but I dunno about that. Sitting inside a hot tub in my bikini for several hours sounds pretty boring too. Who would wanna watch that?" She mused, seemingly clueless about why that kind of content was even popular.

The dragon-hooded woman shook her head. "Ghost hunting is much more exciting. It's filled with thrills, suspense and unexpected surprises! Take you and Trevenant for example. We didn't expect to meet you here, and yet you two make such lovely company!" She remarked with a friendly smile. "By the way, you said you're a Ghost-type enthusiast? What do you like the most about Ghosts?" She asked, showing genuine interest.

So she was very, very clueless. True that sitting in a hot tub in a bikini wasn't all that exciting, but hormones and sex appeal did often drive people towards streams like that. He couldn't make any judgements about the young lady here, in that weird dragon getup. Was she a furry? Not that he cared or minded. And trying to explain why someone would be interested in that to her would likely be a waste of his time. She then continued on to him and ghost hunting. Thrills? Suspense? Unexpected Surprises? Was ghost hunting really any of that? Most of the time it was just a few random ghost-types, usually of the Gengar line, playing those people. It wouldn't surprise him if most of the time they were the "investigator's" own Pokemon. He could argue the "lovely company" part. But one look from Trevenant just shrugging and shaking his head made Aaron rethink that. Instead, he opted to answer her question. "It does give some hope that there is life after death. And they also serve as warnings to people. Take Duskull for example. They're said to whisk away misbehaving children. Or if you're extremely vengeful, watch out for Shuppet. Ghost-types just have extremely interesting stories." Of course, Pokemon in general usually have some interesting fact or story behind them.

The pajama-clad woman keenly listened to Aaron's explanation, or rather his digest of why he thought Ghosts were cool. She eagerly nodded her head, evidently agreeing with his stance on them. "That's so true! Ghosts have the best stories about them! Part of the fun is finding out if they're real or not." She stated.

Chomper curiously sniffed some small mushrooms that grew on top of a moss-covered rock. He then tried to sniff Trevenant's roots with the same amount of curiosity. What did a Ghost even smell like? "All Pokémon are super interesting! What I wouldn't give to become one!" Andrea continued musing, pulling her googly-eyed hood down so that it covered most of her visage. "Some can create earthquakes simply by walking! Some can level entire mountains! And some are so powerful they're the stuff of legends!"

She agreed with him? He was often called creepy for his thoughts on why he liked ghost-types. Aaron watched as the little Deino sniffed at one of Trevenant's roots. Andrea loudly exclaimed that all of them were interesting, and that she wanted to become one. He sure as hell didn't share that sentiment. Much as he was fascinated by them, he didn't want to become one if he can help it. Though maybe one day he'd become a ghost-type Pokemon. She then went on about them. "Legendary Pokemon are the stuff of legends for a reason. They were often worshipped as gods, and often have powers beyond "normal" Pokemon. And there's often only one of them. Perhaps, those are the ones best left alone." But humans had their greed, especially for power. Power that definitely shouldn't be given to the wrong hands. At the same time, whose to say that even a good person wouldn't abuse that power and stifle differing opinions? That was his thoughts at least.

"Gods, huh? I definitely would leave them alone then!" Andrea said, fearing for her life should she ever come across such powerful Pokémon. Then again, that was very unlikely to happen. It's not like legendaries ran rampant in Hoenn, to the point there was an entire government organization dedicated to them. Right...?

Small talk aside, the boy didn't seem that keen on socializing. Perhaps he was demure and soft-spoken by nature? Andrea was neither of those things, and the fact that her constant prattling on might have started to annoy him didn't even cross her mind. Still, she kept walking with him, until a light shined at the end of the gloomy woods.

"Could that be the exit? Time sure flies when you're traveling with interesting people!" Interesting was probably one way to put it. After all, SHE was the one dressed up like a toddler on the Hoennian equivalent of Halloween.

"I'm gonna go check how much of the stream was salvaged on my phone. Maybe next time I'll actually go Ghost hunting at night. It was nice meeting you two!" The dragon-hooded girl waved at Aaron and his spooky friend, before going along on her merry way, her Deino running after her with a bunch of berries stuffed into its mouth that it had picked while exploring the forest.
