Killian's in a good mood. No, a great mood. Can't say the same for the alien slumbering inside him. The things tense as they walk the subs metallic halls. Killian can feel it crawling underneath his skin, worried.[break][break]

"Relax, please."[break][break]

He gets no reply. Only an increased sense of urgency and desire to leave.[break][break]

"I don't like this place either but someone I need to see is here."[break][break]

The looks he gets as he talks to himself aren't unnoticed. Grunts watching, curious why the head of intel is spouting nonsense to no one. He'll have to remember to speak inwardly or get used to the stares.[break][break]

They reach the labs at the end of the hall and Killian puts on a smile. "Hey folks," he says, walking in and interrupting the scientists hard at work.[break][break]

"I'm looking for Ceri Glynn , I heard she was here."

Eyes of a warm brown gaze upon the lens of a microscope, knobs being turned in order to bring her specimen into focus. The sample comes from the Tree of Life itself, a single drop of the liquid secreted by it when luka chêne’s Poipole had jabbed its venom into its trunk.

It had been a good thing that she had been there to collect a sample back then, even if admittedly the whole story hadn’t been shared with the other scientists working near her – not for the sake of protecting the stranger she met that day, but mostly because she didn’t want to get yelled at for letting an Ultra Beast stab Rocket’s precious Tree of Life.

And speaking of getting yelled at…
[break][break]
The voice that calls her name is surprisingly cheerful, although not familiar at all.

She has to resist the urge of calling back with a joyful ”Here!”, instead looking up to find that no other than Admin Killian Decker has entered the lab and that others look at her as if wondering what trouble she got into this time (not like she gets into trouble all that often, mind you).

”Oh… Yes, sir. Do you need something from me?”
[break][break]
The specimen is pulled from the microscope, and when approaching the admin, she offers a sweet smile, her hands resting within the pockets of a lab coat whose sleeves are comfortably rolled up.

Killian's smile spreads wide at her approach. "No need for the sirs and ma'ams. Just call me Killian." he'd offer his hand, but he's not too sure what his friend might do. Better to play things safe than be sorry later.[break][break]

"But yes, I do. I could use your help with something." Diamond orbs glanced about the lab until they landed on the door to an empty office. Lulu Flint wouldn't mind if he confiscated it for a bit, would she? [break][break]

"Let's get a bit more privacy first." he nodded to the office and made his way over. Quickly, over his shoulder, Killian added, "Oh and don't forget your microscope."

Calling an admin by his first name seems odd, but who is she to disagree with what he wants? The man clearly has some authority, not only because he’s one of Rocket’s higher ups, but because he’s quick to direct her towards one of the offices. Is that really okay?!

She isn’t given much time to wonder.

”Alright! Give me a second and I’ll be right there.” She acts as enthusiastic as usual despite her concerns about what the admin might want to talk to her in private about, but microscopes are as heavy as they are delicate, and there’s no way Ceri is risking damaging a piece of equipment she definitely can’t pay for because of being in a rush.

Putting the tree’s sample away, it’s after a couple of minutes that she finally makes it into the office, carefully setting the microscope on the desk.

”Uhmm… I also brought some slides and slips. Didn’t know if we might need them.”

It’s a simple assumption to make, considering that they’re apparently going to look at something in the microscope.

Killian spent the wait getting comfy in the rolling chair behind the desk. That and convincing Deoxys it hasn't any reason to worry. He's not sure if it's because they're in a lab or underwater, but its anxiety is growing by the minute. A muted throbbing at the back of Killian's skull empathizes the unease. [break][break]

He pinched his nose. [break][break]

"Nothing is going to happen you don't want. I have power here, control. You'll be -"[break][break]

Killian quiets himself as the door opens. "Ah, Ceri, good thinking." they'll be needing the slides. Before that, however - Killian's expression hardened. Cheerful smile fading into a firm, authoritative stare. [break][break]

"Unless another higher-up asks, nothing that happens in this room or I say to you leaves it. Am I clear?"

At least that’s the impression Ceri gets after having known him for like ten minutes or less, but then again, it would all probably make much more sense if she knew why he acts this way…

His expression changes into a stern mask, tension suddenly filling the air, but Ceri simply looks up at him (just as she has to look up at most people, given how short she is), her head tilting slightly when he declares the secrecy of their encounter.

”Of course.”

She had already assumed as much, for secrecy seems to be the norm in Team Rocket.

Still, why would he feel the need to emphasize that fact? Why ask for her out of all Rocket scientists?

”Though… If it’s so secret, am I really the person you’re looking for?”

Talented in her field as she may know herself to be, she’s no more than a lab aide here, after all.

A dark brow arches, "You're a biologist, aren't you?" the question's rhetorical. He wouldn't have sought her out if she wasn't one. Are there those in her field better skilled? Certainly. Several Rocket scientists more qualified than she came to mind immediately. But Ceri wouldn't grow if no one allowed her to do so.[break][break]

The fact she's just an aide who Killian can easily influence is a bonus.[break][break]

"If you weren't who I'm looking for, we wouldn't be having this conversation." he adds, "Think of this as an opportunity to prove yourself." [break][break]

"Now close the blinds. I have something to show you."

If life had gone differently for her, Ceri may have become one of those prodigies who had a bunch of degrees at a young age and was respected in her field. It’s where things had been headed when she had graduated high school years before most of her peers, but of course, then it had all gone to shit.

So, what is it that lies ahead of her?

Yeah, this whole thing had to be more than a bit suspect. Killian realized that. In Ceri's shoes, he'd have thought death or worse waited for him. The fact she's so willing to comply is a blessing. Her trust in him won't go unrewarded.[break][break]

His lips folded in on themselves, and he stood, pushing the chair back and against the wall, its wheels rattling as they moved. "For you not to freak out." A hard ask given what he's about to show her. That's assuming his partner cooperated as he wanted. [break][break]

Anxious sparks rolled down Killian's skin the moment he closed his eyes. It knows what he wanted. "Show yourself." he called, seemingly to no one. Deoxys refused, shooting a bolt of pain through him that caused his flesh to squirm. Not metaphorically either. The skin on Killian's arms visibly moved, rippling like water. [break][break]

He winced, jaw clenching tight.[break][break]

"Please, I need her to understand. So we can understand." [break][break]

There's a moment of nothing that seemed to stretch on forever before the admin's right arm began to change. The blue and red biomass of Deoxys coating his arm, hardening like armor. One of Killian's fingers extended and transformed into an eye stock baring the emotionless, unblinking eye of Deoxys. [break][break]

The stock moved, stretching over the desk to peer at Ceri. "There we go." Killian breathed a sigh of relief, "I didn't think it show for a second there." He wasn't sure what he'd do if it didn't.

Ceri feels a sudden urge to ask what is there to freak out about, but then she sees it clearly: the way his skin ripples when he says the words ”Show yourself”. It’s then when she realises that Killian Decker is not talking to her, and a million thoughts rush through her head.

As many theories as questions left unanswered, all while the admin winces in pain.
[break][break]
All while the same arm that had moved earlier begins to change…
[break][break]
Red and blue, stretching out towards her…
[break][break]
”...What the fuck.” A whispered curse as a step is taken back, an unblinking eye soon staring at her from where no more than a fingertip had once been. ”Is that… A pokémon?”
[break][break]
It has to be, and although there’s shock, this quickly begins to be replaced by the earlier fascination, her questions and theories increasing tenfold. Almost instinctively so, Ceri finds herself leaning in just so slightly to get a better look at it, her gaze fixed on that of the symbiote.

”That’s amazing… How did this happen?”

To his surprise, she doesn't scream or panic. That isn't to say she wasn't shocked. "It is. It's name is Deoxys." Killian recognized the glint in her eye as her surprise faded. Fascination, curiosity - he'd seen it himself a thousand times or more. [break][break]

When Ceri leaned to get a better look, the eye stock recoiled into Killian's hand and returned to a regular, albeit clawed, finger. "Careful, it's difficult to control." [break][break]

Nearly impossible. [break][break]

"I don't know how it happened. That's why I'm here. I'm hoping you'll be able to help me find out."

What does that mean, when speaking of an organism that seems capable of fusing with Killian Decker’s body down to a microscopic level and then stop doing so at will?

Or, hell, I’d hope it is, because the implications of communication if it’s not are–…Well, better not to stay stuck on that point for now.” It would surely say a lot about the things Deoxys might be doing to the Rocket admin’s body, and the things it might be doing are already concerning enough as is. Ceri may be fascinated, but no one said that fascination is not morbid.

”My main worry after seeing… that–” She vaguely gestures towards his arm, meaning the way it had changed to become Deoxys’ eye. Pretty damn cool, but also fucked up. Didn’t that hurt? Considering the way his tissue had completely transformed as if he were a Ditto or something, it surely must have, right? ”...By the way it looks, it’s like it’s overwriting DNA or ingesting cells or something.”

Probably not the best way to put it if she didn’t mean to worry the man with a literal pokémon living inside him, but hey, Ceri sure isn’t here to pretend she's certain when they still have no idea what's actually going on, nor to be anyone’s nurse. Rarely do her studies require empathy, okay?!

Since, like, we don’t have an electron microscope right here to look at what your DNA is up to.” As in ’right here in this office’, because Killian had insisted on keeping things private to a point that Ceri may or may have not pocketed her mace spray just in case.
