Once, he'd trained the cat beneath Lugia's storm. How agile it had been then, how fleet of foot. Now its back legs lay limp as its whiskers pull in an electrical charge, just as quickly released with a boom of thunder.

Gavin scratches the cat behind the ears as a tossed pokeball shakes.

He hardly wants to hurt this Pokémon; if it's meant for his lover, he doubts Tempest Quinn would approve of the needless violence.

So, carding his fingers through the Zeraora's soft white fur, he waits.

"You need a name," he sighs, and there's only one that comes to mind. What felt like a lifetime ago but had in truth been about a year, his bold Zeraora had leapt valiantly into the path of a Genesect to protect Chu-e Choi. It had been at Gavin's command, but the cat hadn't hesitated even at the prospect of certain death. Now, not killed but crippled, the feline reminds him too much of his late friend.

"I wonder if Chu-e would like that."

The void in his chest is filled with sorrow, and perhaps it's his solemn mood that finally draws the golden Luvdisc from the water. Water swirls around it in a gentle ring, and it stares up at him curiously.

He offers first a bit of food from his bag, and later, one of the precious few safari balls available to him.
