Yvette yawned as she entered the safari, having gotten up extra early to get a good spot in the first day queue. It would be worth it, though, this month’s cycle offering some popular and therefore hard to get Pokémon that she was eager to add to her collection.

If she could just wake up enough to catch them.

Yvette rubbed at her eyes for probably the twentieth time since crossing the boundary, before finally submitting to the early morning dimness and summoning her Lampent for assistance.

The change in lighting was immediately helpful, and the professor gasped with delight as the flickering flame revealed the small bear cub peering curiously at them from the shadows. ”Oooh, look Eddy!” She cooed, directing her Pokémon to where the Stufful was quickly disappearing into bushes behind him. ”Don’t let it get away!”

Edison obliged, taking the light with him as he chased the cub into the undergrowth. There was the sound of a brief scuffle, followed by the high-pitched cry of something struggling to escape, until the Lampent at last returned with his prize.

The Stufful flailed about where it was caught in the lamp’s thin, metallic arms, but found itself thoroughly Imprisoned in Edison’s grasp until Yvette was ready to capture it.

Yvette stopped to yawn again and admire the rising sun in the reflection of a small pond. A little splash would wake her up. With that thought in mind, she crouched down at the edge and scooped some of the cool water into her hands.

And a little friend with it.

She and the Luvdisk just stared at each other for a few moments, before it suddenly squirted water in her face and leapt back into the pond as she gagged. ”Careful what you wish for I guess,” she scowled, squeezing her hair dry.

Still, she wasn’t going to take that lying down. ”Edison!” she barked. ”Inferno!” Her Lampent complied, shooting white-hot flames into the pond until it began to bubble and boil, forcing the cheeky little fish to hop out onto dry land, where it flopped uselessly.

”That’ll teach ya,” she said as she tossed one of her Safari Balls, just to add insult to injury.
