AT NIGHT, you mistake your garden as being on fire; however, it is simply the light of a lampent... oh wait, is it stealing your berries?![break][break]

Locke stretched his arms up as far as he could as he continued his losing battle with exhaustion.

He hadn’t meant to stay this long. He’d only offered to help with a little weeding earlier, something to keep his hands busy and ease a bit of the anxiety that had steadily built inside him the last few months. But the repetitive labor had lulled his scattered mind into a sort of fugue state, and by the time it returned to him that bright and sunny afternoon was but a distant memory.

But even with the absence of the other volunteers, they weren’t alone here. Sometime during the night, they weren’t sure when, a Lampent had begun following Locke around the garden. It didn’t disturb the plants, made no move to attack them, just…followed.

As creepy as the habit was, the light it shed was too helpful for Locke to want to drive it away, so they simply did their best to ignore it. They even offered it a berry for its assistance, which it accepted and presumably ate, though they never actually saw it consume the treat.

All things come to an end, however, and even forgetful postmen have to sleep sometime. But as he returned the borrowed supplies to their station and finally set foot back into the darkened street, the light was still behind him.

“Um, did you need something?” It’s head turned inquisitively in tandem with his own. He took another few tentative steps forward. The Lampent drifted closer, matching his pace.

“…Should I be worried?”

Locke stood back and admired his handiwork.

The asters still had a few months of bloom in them, keeping this area of the garden nice and colorful for the fall. And he’d made good time, seeing the hands of his watch hit 10:37. Enough time to pick up a little lunch before starting his next run of deliveries.

He moved to return the now-empty pots to the cart, when something caught his eye. A brief flash of yellow, quickly disappearing within the berry patch.

Placing the pot down again and dusting the dirt of his pants, Locke went to investigate. He picked his way through the rows of ripened fruits, eyes peeled for any movement. Just as he was ready to dismiss it as a trick of the light, he spotted another blur of yellow through the leaves.

There, amidst the bushes, was a Pokémon Locke had never seen before. It was incredibly small, about half the size of a Delibird, with two long tails bobbing up and down as it floated. Its head had a sort of sunshine yellow, helmet-shaped crest, which was currently turned away from them as it inspected a plot of Salac sprouts.

After staring in awe at the foreign entity for a moment, Locke slowly, ever so carefully, reached for the Pokénav in their pocket. They flipped it open without taking their eyes off the Pokémon, but when they opened the camera and peered through the lens, it was-

It was…

What were they doing?

The rhythmic sound of their alarm brought Locke back to their body. They blinked once. Twice.

They frowned at their watch. 11 A.M. They must have drifted away again. With a sigh, Locke resigned themselves to skipping the meal so they could quickly finish cleaning up and get started on the rest of their day.

IN SEARCH FOR FOOD, this voracious Pokemon attempts to steal some of your growing berries for itself. Leaving this Pokemon alone may cause damage to your overall harvest.

Among the most precious Salacs, a young Cufant was cheerfully playing in the mess it'd made, Digging until it hit the roots of the plants and knocked them over. It seemed to find the way the bushes dropped and the berries rolled in all direction amusing, and hopped carefree over to its next victim.

This was so big! She wasn't sure how she missed it before, with its ginormous trunk and the curved, yellow berries hanging from the very tippy-top! Any berry that high had to be tasty! Without hesitation, it Dug its spade-like trunk into the ground at the base of the tree, but, oddly enough, failed to find any roots. Curious, it tried a few different spots around the trunk, but again and again came up with nothing.

As it pondered the mystery of how such a large tree could stand without any roots to anchor itself, the sky above began to darken, and when it looked up, the berries were much-much closer.

As was the Tropius-guardian of this particular patch-attached to them.

And he did not look as amused.
