Well that wasn’t right.[break][break]

After the first ‘date’ he’d been sent to, he got another notification alerting him that he had a new ‘blind date’ to go to, but this time it was in his own city.[break][break]

Uh-oh, who’d not gotten the message that he was gay?[break][break]

Brows furrowing in concern, he looked at the notification from the application, a frown flashing across his features. He’d specifically made clear in his ad that he was looking only for guys—at least, that was until he noticed the name of the one who’d requested it.[break][break]

Oh. OH. Were the first thoughts that went through his head, the expression on his face reversing in an instant. This, I can definitely roll with… he continued to muse, and now that he had full use of both his arms preparing something was going to be a good way to make up for the stalking incident.[break][break]

Well, she really seemed to like the blini… but… I know there’s something else… I know I can make much more now… he mused, his mind suddenly going into overdrive as he quickly made his way for the coat rack and grabbed his jacket off it, checking his wallet to see if he had enough money for what he was about to attempt.[break][break]

It’s time to whip up a delicious storm. And one of the dishes, she’s already seen![break][break]

Of course, he had her number by this point. Texting her to come over to his place was but a simple matter, and he had enough time to get most of the food ready, and just stick it in the oven to keep it warm until she got here.[break][break]

Now the question was: how amenable was she to drinking?[break][break]

His eyes flitted over to where he’d bought a bottle of vodka, and knew that he could practically drink anyone and everyone under the table—but who knew?

Isra was finding herself quite partial to the man's company, it felt like she didn't have to keep up appearances around him in the same way she had expected. Not that she hadn't made an effort to play nice, it just didn't feel like she had to try with him as much as the others. He hadn't quite gotten too much of a taste of her more wild side yet, but something told her he'd handle it just fine.

It made it easier to knock on his door with a smile on her face waiting to greet him when he let her in. She'd made an exception tonight and was a little earlier than she would have normally arrived to accommodate him not being a night owl such as her. There was an obvious bit of sleep in her eyes still but that was alright. She'd wake before long and had the night off to spend with him.

"Alexei!" she was almost like a kid, so excited to see him. Then again when it came to having a social circle of any kind she was very much still a child. It was something she was still getting used to now that she was phasing into a world with more people like she was. Of course she was an adult kid in many ways, and that made for an interesting mix.

For example, little did the man know she could down a bottle of wine like no other, and still be standing. Mostly.

The smell of roasting beef now permeated through the apartment space, and it didn’t take long before he heard the knocking from the door. Quickly shutting off the fire on the conduction stove unit and checking on the dumplings he’d cobbled together, he made a beeline for the door the moment he heard his name from the opposite side.[break][break]

“Coming, Miss Isra!” he shouted back, never mind he had to skid around from the kitchen to the table, to the living room over to where his Riolu, Vincent was now pawing at the door and yipping in his direction, which he roughly translated to ‘hurry up, don’t keep her waiting!’ and he opened the door a few moments later.[break][break]

“Whoops, I’m so sorry, Miss Isra! Did I keep you waiting?” he apologized as he then opened the door wider for her to come in. “You… you still look sleepy. Are you sure you’re fully awake?” he asked her once she was inside and had closed the door behind her.[break][break]

At the same time, the Riolu circled around the greenette before patting her gently on the leg and then pointing towards the comfortable, cushy sofa.[break][break]

“Dinner’s almost ready, I did promise you I’d be making the special blini again… this time I’ve brought out more of the family dishes, I’ll get the table set in short order,” he continued before waiting for her to get settled on the couch and returning to the kitchen.[break][break]

“Vince, you keep her company, okay?” he shouted from the kitchen as he quickly removed the pan where the roasted meat was and throwing another pot on the stove, filling it with water and sprinkling enough salt in it and setting it out to boil.[break][break]

Ahh, how he hated rushing to cook.[break][break]

In the meantime he returned to the living room with a tray that had a teapot and two cups on it.[break][break]

“Tea?” he asked her a few moments later, setting the tray down on the coffee table.

It's actually quite amusing how much of a fuss he seems to be in over her arrival. "No not at all, I wasn't waiting long. I'll wake up soon enough!" his comment reminded her that he may not have realized she was a graveyard worker and most definitely did not know why. Which was fine, it would come up when it made sense for it too. Quite likely when she discussed challenging his gym when it was open. If he'd be willing to make a special arrangement for her so she might challenge his open space in the night that would be lovely.

But that was a talk for another time.

She's ushered to his couch, a riolu there to keep her company and she's quite to pat him on the head. He seems well mannered enough and truly she had yet to see the pokemon in person. She as curious about it and finds herself quite enamored until Alexei re-emerges with tea. "That would be lovely, I didn't get to have my evening cup yet myself." she's quick to accept it, she'd never been a coffee drinker, though she couldn't say why. Tea just always felt right and coffee seemed like the wrong thing to have in her hands. Isra lets the drink sit in her hands for a moment, letting the warmth settle into her still sleeping fingers before she takes a drink.

"Thank you Alexei, you really don't have to worry so much though I'm patient." her face says the same, she's not here to cause him a fuss, just to have a chance to say hello.

“I was tossing between coffee and tea, but I’m not that much a fan of coffee, so tea it is! I’m glad you actually like the tea,” he called out from the kitchen as he then began flitting to and from said kitchen.[break][break]

He then began bringing out the dinner plates, another few plates with the familiar-looking nutty pancakes, and another platter that was piled quite high with something that looked like dumplings.[break][break]

“Sorry, the pasta’s taking forever to boil,” he continued from the kitchen, finally returning and mixing up the last of the sauce that he needed to make the final dish he was going to be serving this evening.[break][break]

Oh, and how could he forget about the vodka?[break][break]

Over where she was on the couch, the little Riolu continued to eye her curiously, before letting out a little yipping noise. A few moments later, there was the lightest of feather-touches that had approached Isra from out of nowhere, and had touched her on the forehead.[break][break]

It was Carina, the little Cutiefly. Come to check out Vinces new ‘playmate’ for a few moments. A little hum reached the Riolu’s ears, before another happy yipping noise came from the Fighting-type.[break][break]

“Vince? Something up?” he called from the kitchen, finally coming out with a bow of cooked pasta and setting it on the table. “I have just the sauce left to mix, and we’ll be all set. Are you enjoying the tea?” he asked his guest a few moments later.[break][break]

on the menu for the evening are the loveable pancakes from last time (blini), the dumplings his sister taught him how to cook (pelmeni), and to top it all off, some very nice pasta (beef stroganoff). What's for drinking? Asides from tea? v o d k a

She chuckles at her host and wonders if this is how he goes about every meal or just the ones with guests involved. "I agree, I've never been much for coffee." the last time she drank it was because she couldn't sleep and was awake at noon, a god awful time of the day to be awake and one where she could only function with a sufficient amount of caffeine in her system.

"No rush, better it's cooked right than rushed. Right?" she was pretty sure that's how it went. It's what she was always told by the cooks growing up when she got annoyed about being hungry and not getting fed herself. Much like his little blue pokemon did.

Her attention is drawn away from where his voice is coming from at the fain touch of something against her forehead. She nearly goes cross eyed looking for it when she realizes it's a cutiefly, the pokemon being so very tiny. She offers it a finger for petting should the little thing accept, delighted at how friendly his pokemon seem to be. It's almost amusing even.

"The tea is good, I'm really not in a hurry Alexei so if it takes a little while that's okay. Besides your pokemon seem quite determined to say hello while they can anyway." she chuckles, truly it reminds her of her own in many ways. It was nearly impossible for her to roam her home without being bombarded with pokemon that wanted her attention for every reason under the sun. She wondered how many more he had tucked away that weren't yet making themselves known.

Vincent followed the second, fainter aura as it flitted around the greenette, seeing as he was able to pick up on the faintest trace of aura the smaller Pokémon emitted. The Fighting-type yipped a little, amused at how his companion’s human guest had nearly gone cross-eyed trying to look for Carina—and an outstretched finger offered in the rough direction of the tiny one.[break][break]

“Fair, I’ll agree to that. It’s better cooked right than rushing it,” he agreed with a grin, checking the table and then realizing that he’d almost forgotten to prepare the last few steps of the creamy sauce that was going to be served alongside the pasta that was now bubbling merrily on the ‘stove top’ he had in the kitchen—really, a marvel of technology let him cook things so quickly without having to rely on a gas line.[break][break]

Well, partially that, mostly it was because the entire city wanted to be as ‘green’ as possible, too—at his urging.[break][break]

Anyway…[break][break]

Back over where the Cutiefly was flittering around Isra, she then saw the offered finger, and immediately made a beeline for it, resting atop it for a few moments before letting out a happy little hum. Another yipping noise from Vincent draws Alexei’s attention, looking up from the pot of pasta sauce he was now putting the finishing touches on.[break][break]

“Vince? What is it?” he asked from the kitchen as he picked up a chopping board and one of the knives, picking up the meat and letting the last of the oil drip out before placing it on said chopping board and slicing up the meat as thinly as possible and then throwing it into the pasta once he was satisfied.[break][break]

“Is it Carina?” he asked without looking up, and getting an affirmative yip in return.[break][break]

“Oh, Miss Isra?” he called out, busy mixing the last of the sauce and tasting it himself for a few moments. “Don’t worry, Zelle’s currently asleep… I fed her before you got here. So she’s not going to grab your face,” he added with a chuckle, smacking his lips quietly and deeming the sauce as done.[break][break]

Roughly around the same time, the noodles were also done, and he eventually emerged from the kitchen one last time loaded down with a bowl of noodles, and a second one that had the sauce before setting it on the table.[break][break]

“The food’s ready,” he called a few moments later, waiting for her to join him at the table.

If a pokemon could charm her the cutiefly has. How darling of a pokemon? Something about it makes the child in her brim with joy. It's like a little fairy from a fairy tale or some other such story that Isra was often told as a child but wasn't allowed to enjoy. "Carina." she whispers, after hearing Alexei say the pokemonj's name. Some how it seems fitting to her.

Her attention is brought away and back to the food as Alexei mentioned his little blue trouble maker. "That may be for the better, at least during dinner. I don't mind her affections but the dinner table is not the right place for them. At least not with the amount of gusto she has over it." she chuckles, Isra's tolerance for things varies but is often much greater with pokemon and especially young pokemon than it is with humans. She's faintly aware of it but has never bothered to correct it. If people wanted more out of then they should behave as such.

Isra stands and makes her way to the table to join him, keeping her finger out for the cutiefly should she decide to join them at the table. While Isra is a woman of manners she's also quite willing to beak the rule and use one hand for a little while if it keeps the small pokemon happy.

"Thank you." she states as she takes her seat, eying the dinner he's prepared. "It looks delightful." If nothing else, food with Alexei has been quite interesting. "Is this the sort of thing you eat often?"

The Riolu had decided to pace around a little longer before eventually yipping in Isra’s direction, as if signaling something.[break][break]

At the same time the little Cutiefly was perched on her finger, humming and enjoying herself, she saw that the vantage point had changed and that they were now seated at a familiar-looking table. Giving the tiniest of hums, the little Cutiefly then gave another feather-light touch to the female’s finger, before taking off so that she could eat properly.[break][break]

Circling around the table a few times, she then made a beeline towards where her owner was, flittering around him and choosing to settle somewhere on his nose with the lightest of landings.[break][break]

The Riolu then let out a little yipping noise, which Alexei knew was a chuckle, before he himself stared at his nose. “Oh, alright, Carina, you can sleep there,” he said, admitting defeat as the tiny Pokémon then made herself comfortable before curling up for a nap.[break][break]

Turning his attention back to Miss Isra, he then nodded and answered her question.[break][break]

“Yes, for me and my family back in Mistralton, this is standard fare. Although out here the blini are a bit of a specialty since it’s rather hard looking for buckwheat flour,” he explained with a bit of a grin.[break][break]

“That, and looking for sour cream is also a definite hassle and a half. Not just any kind of sour cream would do, mind,” he continued as he let her try the pasta dish first so she could give an honest opinion about it.[break][break]

Meanwhile, he’d decided to keep himself busy with the pile of dumplings and some of the blini, layering a rather…liberal pile of sour cream on top of the small heap of buckwheat ‘pancakes’ he had in front of him. They smelled really tasty, too…
