Five dates, and yet, out of all of them, only one had been of any romantic interest to her. Sure, talking to priam conrad, Hailee Jacobs, and even FERNANDO SILPH had been nice and all, but it’s the season of love! Where’s the romance of it all?!

Five dates, and this entire event has been a total sausage fest.[break][break]
So even though she's strictly here on business, it's just nice to be able to spend some time with another girl for a little while. Girls are so cute, and Ceri is looking particularly lovely today. No doubt it's for the dating part of these speed dates, and Luka feels a little guilty that she's taking the place of a potential romance.[break][break]

But not guilty enough to decline! [break][break]"Oh, gosh! It's good to see you again, Mademoiselle!" The nickname brings a flurry of abashed laughter along with a reminder of an incident she'll never live down. There's a reason Jam has been left at home today.[break][break]

The baby in her arms trills and waves, a start contrast to the Toxel held in Ceri's lap. That's not enough to deter the little egg though, who attempts to crawl up onto the table to commiserate with his fellow infant.

”Ha! Believe me, you don’t want me to bore you with the intricacies of biotech research and development… Unless you’ve secretly been a science nerd all along and kept it from me, hm? Are you a woman of secrets, Luka?”

There always seems to be a certain singsong quality to the intonations Ceri places upon every syllable, spoken at a fast yet steady pace that perfectly matches that gleeful demeanour of hers. She even winks with that last question, although that mostly is for the sake of teasing Luka just a little.

”So… All work, no play?” It’s at this point that she taps on the card placed upon the table, the one meant to indicate her next partner and the purpose of their meeting. Business. ”Too bad, but oh well… What sort of business do you do?”

As she speaks, the Toxel frowns at the Togepi’s approach, turning around and starting to climb onto Ceri like the baby he is. She laughs, honestly finding it way too funny.

"Science nerd...I'm afraid not! That kind of thing goes right over my head." Shoulders roll in a sheepish shrug as she reveals the obvious; there's very little floating around in that pretty pastel head.[break][break]

"No secrets either...and I'm afraid we work in two different worlds! I'm um...networking for PR, you could say? It's a far cry from education..." The slightest of frowns ghosts over her features, afraid she's wasting Ceri's time.[break][break]
Oh! But I do have, um, kind of a fun party trick?" Luka screws her eyes shut, clears her throat, and speaks clearly: "So...all work, no play?"[break][break]

The similarity is uncanny; it's as though she's played Ceri a recording of her own voice. A human Chatot smiles sweetly from across the table while Togepi continues his steadfast crawl forwards, determined to reach his new bestie on the other side of the table.[break][break]

Luckily for Luka, rarely does Ceri think people to be a waste of her time. She likes having interesting conversations, and while the differences between them provide for little room for business, they are amusing to discuss.

”PR? That’s pretty cool! Public eye’s not really my thing. I avoid it like the plague, actually. But! I can appreciate that sort of thing. Sounds like a lot of work.”

Ceri laughs, but her words are completely honest. After all, she spent the entirety of her childhood being told her family should be known and respected by the world, and these days there’s a deep seeded annoyance when even thinking about things like those.

So, even if she never shows any of this, Luka’s party trick comes as a welcomed distraction, and Ceri smiles brightly when hearing the sound of her own voice.

The shift to another topic is more than welcome. Even though her business is, well, business, there's nothing saying she can't spend one of these short sessions engaged in some lighthearted conversation! Besides, Ceri's reaction to her little party trick is delightfully endearing. It's always nice to see people get a kick out of her strange quirk.[break][break]

"Mm...almost. Deeper voices are harder, but I'm getting better! I've been using my boyfriend as practice," she confesses with a giggle, inclining her head towards the table Remiel Calcifet is sitting at. "Though I'm not sure he's all that fond of it..."[break][break]

It’s a fun conversation, so despite the utter lack of potential romantic partners, Ceri doesn’t mind having been paired with luka chêne.

That is, of course, until Luka mentions using her boyfriend as practice and then nods towards no other than prince dickhead himself. Yikes.

”Your boyfriend’s Remiel Calcifet?” An eyebrow is raised, and the disgust in her voice is even more obvious than what Ceri had intended. Whoops. Sorry, not sorry. ”Girl… No offence, but like…Get better taste.”

Even if she hadn’t known it back then, her childhood had taught Ceri just how bad being in love with a member of the royal family could be, and the bigger problem here is that sometimes Remiel reminds her a little too much of her father. As far as she’s aware, Luka definitely deserves better.

Yet, set on not letting thoughts of royal douchebag over there ruin her day, she allows herself a heavy sigh, just as the ring of a bell indicates the end of their date. Saved by the bell, then. Quite literally this time.

Taken aback by the venom in Ceri's sweet voice, Luka can do naught but sit and stare while her boyfriend is derided right to her face. As far as she knows, Remiel Calcifet is generally well liked and well respected; aloof but charming, and a prince to boot. The thought of anyone disliking him so vehemently is so surprising that she can't immediately provide a rebuttal.[break][break]

But what does she know about him, really? Certainly nothing about his family, immediate or extended. She doesn't know that just minutes ago he'd reconvened with a former lover, and her very presence here is a twist of the knife to someone who doesn't deserve such heartache.[break][break]

And, most importantly, she doesn't know anything about Rocket, about his deep affiliations with the organization that had gouged itself into her life and left it in shambles.[break][break]

"Oh, um..." A good girlfriend should jump right to his defense, but all she can manage is a soft, "W-well, I think he's wonderful. Maybe you just got off on the wrong foot? But, um...I'll let him know," she says with a nervous, stuttering giggle.[break][break]

"Here! Take my card," she says, offering it up before Ceri can make her escape. "Please let me know what you found...and I'll pass on your regards to Jam!"
