the mood didn’t feel lightened at all. there was no smile, or even many thoughts as she resigned to the facts of her existence. all thoughts faded to one: she wanted painkillers. she would ask the nurse.

”no, i still have it. he didn’t take anything.” except her pride and sense of security. ”thanks. see you in verdanturf.”

truthfully, she didn’t want him to leave. she didn’t know anyone here. the fact that they were an unknown amount of feet below the surface of the ocean did not help to comfort her. still, he was busy, and she knew that.
