Warren had received a call about an infestation of KRICKETUNE in Fallarbor Town under a few houses. Sure, the bug-types produced wonderful music and all...

Until they continued on through the night and kept the people awake and without sleep.

So, he was dispatched to try and contain it. Perhaps even to find them a new place to live instead. He wasn't all too fond of having to get down and crawl under a house, though.

Approaching the first house, he spotted a man there, as though he was waiting for someone.

"Can I help you?" Warren asked gruffly.

Honestly, Cefin could have happily fallen asleep to the incessant chirping of Kricketune any day or night. Excusing the whole insomnia thing, of course, but bug pokémon rarely frustrated him, even the noisier ones. He found the sound calming, though the people of Fallarbor obviously disagreed.[break][break]

He had only been waiting a little while for the ranger he was told would be accompanying him. It makes sense - back when he'd camped out for months at a time to study wild pokémon across the globe, there were usually rangers present. Scientist or no, it was nice to know there was backup in case he nearly got eaten.[break][break]

This man, though... was something quite different. Tall, broad, gruff - fair hair and stunningly gold eyes, yet with that air of bad boy that drew Cefin back to his uni days. Stupid baby gay with a crush on every "cool kid" he laid eyes on... well, he was too busy for that kind of thing nowadays.[break][break]

"Hello, yes - are you ranger Ambrose? I believe we're assigned to one another today. For the Kricketune problem" He smiles, extending a hand delicately.

However, Warren had failed to be told that he was partnered for this mission. It came as a small shock him, though his face revealed no such expression as he regarded his companion with intense golden eyes.

He grunted before taking his hand, giving it perhaps a too firm shake.

"Warren is fine," he offered, letting go as he approached the house.

"Do you have experience with things like these?"

If Cefin were a nervous type, he might squirm under the intense gaze and the heavy handshake, but he offers a polite smile instead, meeting the rough hands of the ranger with his own, soft and fair.[break][break]

"Alright. Warren. My name is Cefin"[break][break]

Cefin walks beside him to one of the affected homes, already a faint chirping heard now and then if one listened closely enough.[break][break]

"I've got experience with plenty of bug types, yes. I've studied Kricketune in the past, too. I'm sure between the two of us, we'll be quite a team!" He beams up at his partner, before taking a step forward and kneeling by the foundations of the house.[break][break]

"It would be nice if we could avoid hurting them too much... do you have a small pokémon that could get under, perhaps chase them out a little?"

"Nice to meet you, Cefin."

The two seemed like opposites. Warren was war torn and gruff, while Cefin seemed soft and kind. Yet, there was something intriguing about him. Maybe it was the interest that the man held for the task at hand.

He found it a bit infatuating, to say the least.

"A small Pokemon... I'm sure TORRACAT could squeeze himself in there. He manages to get caught in the strangest of situations sometimes."

The fiery cat made a screeching protest, looking cross at his trainer. However, with the flick of Warren's hands to indicate to move, he did as he was told, scrambling under the house.

"Come on, move them out."

And the first of the bugs appeared!

Cefin couldn't help but be infatuating, though utterly oblivious to it. The gentility and softness and the general ability to hold a conversation with just about anyone as though they were the most important person in the world definitely drew attention. To Cefin, it was just normality - he'd never been the type to see himself as special, interesting, or even overly attractive. The idea that others might was beyond his reckoning entirely.[break][break]

The little back-and-forth between Warren and his Torracat drew a chuckle from Cefin. "A great deal of cat pokémon are just as sticky and stubborn, you know. Something of a shared trait"[break][break]

It doesn't take long before a Kricketune pops it's red head out from under the house, at which point Cefin releases his own pokémon to assist.[break][break]

"Bedtime, please, Gwyn" He asks, as Gwynedd the Vivillon takes flight towards the critter and releases scales of SLEEP POWDER from his wings, sending the Kricketune yawning, stumbling, and eventually collapsing into a deep nap.[break][break]

One down! How many more could even be squeezed under there, anyway?

Cefin pointed out the obvious to Warren, who had been with his TORRACAT for some time now. The cat was as stubborn as Warren himself was. Not that he'd admit it.

"You're telling me. He likes to keep his coat clean. I know that he thinks it'll get dirty and ruined, going under that house."

However, their effort was not in vain. The KRICKETUNE appeared shortly after his TORRACAT disappeared below, looking for a means of escape.

Before he had a chance to worry, Cefin's VIVILLION put it to sleep, causing it to fall into the grass and snooze. Warren approached with an empty Poke ball, picking it up to relocate it.

"Nicely done."
