[break][break] bio stuff here[break] - born and raised in wyndon. grew up in a family of four, inclusive of himself. strong bond with his older brother of seven years. good relationship with his parents. grew up in a middle-upper class household masquerading beneath the guise of a simple middle class home for discrepancy, as his family had (and in the case of his mother, still has) gang ties that both he and his brother were involved in for some time.
- his father disappeared during a gang-related outing. this happened when ryan was about eight. needless to say, it caused no subtle amount of despair in his family (especially since the body was never found, and no death was technically officially confirmed), but it seemed to hit his mother the hardest. long story short, her despair ended up translating into a number of poor parenting choices and behavior, vaguely speaking. y'all can connect the dots, i'm sure.
- his brother left home and cut contact after graduating high school. before that happened, ryan's relationship only grew stronger in their father's absence due to his brother being the one to constantly protect him after the fact. eventually, though, even he ended up getting to the end of his rope, which resulted in ryan being left alone with his mother at age eleven. he'd turned to books and story writing in his free time as an escape, and he only holed himself in more when his brother left.
- relationship with his mother calmed down, but grew stagnant. eventually, she found some other, less harmful means to cope and help herself move on— but by that point, the damage had already been done, and her relationship with ryan was more or less frayed. they still lived under the same roof. ryan eventually began to practice combat more intently with the intention of involving himself in his family's gang affairs, and eventually used that as a way to vent for a while.
- worked as a hitman for a time. buried himself in work as a means to distract himself all throughout his earlier and later schooling, and took his first official hit in the middle of his higher educational studies. only worked it as a side job for a few years before severing ties with the job, severing as many ties with his gang connections as he could, and somewhat severing ties with his mother in favor of focusing completely on himself.
- moved to hoenn at age twenty-five. came to hoenn to be with extended family that helped him grasp a better hold of himself in his later teens, and to be able to be in better contact with the cousins that helped him shoulder through the bulk of issues he faced in the aftermath of his own family setting. landed a job as a high school teacher in mauville city, and has resided in the aforementioned city since arriving in hoenn.
[break][break] miscellaneous stuff here[break] - paul kim best represents his voice. speaks whatever the fuck the hoenn equivalent of english is— though without a galar accent despite being raised there due to familial influence.
- kyungwoo best represents his dance style. between familial culture and common familial hobbies, he ended up getting into dance in his earlier childhood. specializes in hip hop and breakdancing.
- coaches his school's dance team. also serves as the same school's dance club supervisor.
- tall as fuck. you see him? you see this homie right here? he's six foot ten and beefy— and that's downscaled. his canon iteration is a 'lil over a foot taller than that.
- mixed blood. it'll show in how connected he is with the different cultures his family is from, and he has a pokemon-equivalent-of-korean name, yongjun.
- writes under the pen name "aquilino castellano." he's only somewhat recently begun to publish his own books and texts, but it's been an interest and goal of his since childhood. seems to specialize in fantasy and sci-fi.
- absolutely capable of decking someone's halls straight into next christmas. extremely combat ready and capable due to the nature of his upbringing, as well as how he still keeps in practice with the different forms of combat he learned as a means of exercise. also somewhat tech savvy for the same reasons, although more because he'd been taught by his brother before he left.
- issues? check. it's all personal issues, though; ones that were all directly connected to and formed because of his upbringing. although he's gotten significantly better about his own outlook compared to before, and although he's gotten out of the pessimistic mindset for the most part, he still has a lot of self esteem issues (that contradict some egotistical streaks he's known to have sometimes), and also struggles with depression and burnout fairly often, despite not letting any of it show. susceptible to destructive overthinking, but always does his best to be confrontational to prevent it from getting out of hand.
