When Mars had first visited one of the League's gyms, he hadn't done so for the thrill of a challenge. He may be competitive, but he never thought he would care much for such things, and most of his gym challenges had happened because he had other motives. He had ended up enjoying more than expected, though, and such being the case, he finds himself smirking at Georgette’s comment.

”Thank you. It has, but it has been fun… Who knows, maybe the next gym I challenge will be yours.”

It’s not a terrible thought, but it is one he finds himself distracted from when calling out Notus.

The Alolan Raichu can be destructive and dangerous when given the right commands, as ana fell would surely know, but Georgette Bluebottle has it right, and he is, without a doubt, fucking adorable. He even gives a happy and energetic ’Chu!’ in response to the gym leader’s words, as if pleased and agreeing with her assessment.

Leaves rustle, but since his Unown doesn't react to it, Mars ignores the movement, assuming the wild pokémon isn't another like it.

"I would like that," Georgette assures Mars at his suggestion he challenge her gym, her expression brightening as she looks up at the man. "I am a bit nervous, no? I have only every done pokemon Contests, and this is very different. If you come be sure to dress warm. That part of the island is cold."

Her attention then diverts back to the Alolan Raichu, her nose wrinkling playfully. "So cute," she whispers to Noctus, her hand lightly squeezing the Raichu's paws again before she stands up.

A haughty snuff from Alouette makes Georgette laugh, her voice apologetic as she offers, "You are beautiful, no?" The Froslass chirrs softly, and in sharp contrast to that, phases across the grass to a Kadabra that has just appeared. Chomping down with a Draining Kiss followed by a spray of Frost Breath.

Georgette throws a pokeball at the Kadabra, and then asks Mars curiously, "They are not difficult?" Looking a touch sheepish at the admission, Georgette says, "We only really had farm pokemon growing up. I have been trying to branch out, no?"

A faint smile tugs at his lips at the mention of contests, for those are something Mars always enjoys – undeniably so. He wouldn’t work so hard on his routines and even host his own contests if that weren’t the case, but Georgette Bluebottle is right, and all of that is quite different from a gym challenge.

”I can’t say I blame you for being nervous, I probably would be too.” He chuckles. Mars? Nervous? When? ”I guess it does have its similarities, though. Both contests and gym challenges are about how well you perform, right? And, when planning them for others, you probably want to give them tasks befitting of the theme you’re focusing on.”

What’s Georgette’s theme for her gym? Freezing people’s asses off?

As amusing as the thought is, Mars keeps it to himself, because he would definitely prefer not to get frozen by Georgette’s apparently rather emotional Froslass. Call it wisdom and all of that.

”Ah, I’d say all pokémon have their challenges. I spent my childhood around mostly water types, so I think I get what you mean… Though admittedly some of those can be difficult too.”

Georgette flashes Mars a warm smile as he chuckles, her head nodding in agreement with his observation. "Yes," she murmurs, her thoughts drifting momentarily to her new home in Mossdeep, its ambient temperature now far more brutal than any contest she had ever participated in. Well, that was for her challengers to find out, she supposed.

Casting the Alolan Raichu one more look of adoration before moving to pick up her recently thrown pokeball, Georgette tucks her new Kadabra into her satchel. Her head cocking in Mars's direction, she hums a note as he continues to speak.

"I have recently begun to train more ground and rock pokemon." Making an absent little motion with her hands, she confirms, "It is different but good, no?"

The sound of drumming against a tree fills the air, and with it the sight of a Trumbeak. Humming in thought, Georgette eventually nods to her Froslass to engage, the ghostly maiden's Frost Breath putting a damper on the Flying-type's machinations.

Tossing out a pokeball as the Trumbeak falls from the air, Georgette then muses aloud, "I do not think I know what you do, Martín." Her head tilts curiously with her words as she waits for his answer.

To a man whose pokémon of choice mostly rely on range, speed, and strength, the idea of training something as slow as a rock type or a ground type doesn’t really have much appeal. Mars tries to imagine it for a second, just one, and after it passes he catches himself wrinkling his nose at the thought. Is it really good, like Georgette says? He has his doubts, yet he still smiles at her all the same.

”True enough. Trying something new can be fun, and it’s good to have some type variety in your team.” Pros and cons and all of that. Quickly and passingly, a list of them is made in his mind, but of course Mars has enough sense not to voice all of that. ”I think my favourite ground type is probably my Steelix. Not too sure about rock… Hmm… How about yours?”

The question is mostly meant as small talk, spoken just as Mars sees his Alolan Raichu surf up through the air in order to meet a Pidgey that flies out of a tree. The little bird doesn’t seem to appreciate Notus’ presence much, and it’s soon that it tries to summon up a TWISTER. Mars clicks his tongue, and just like that, the Pidgey ends up getting itself electrocuted.

A Luxury Ball is thrown, and it’s then that he turns his attention back to Georgette.

”Oh, I guess I never really told you, huh?” There’s a slight smirk at that, because it’s not like Mars just goes advertising who he is to most people. He does enough interviews and appears in enough of the bank’s ads for some to recognize him, and when it comes to making new business connections, they generally already know who he is from the get go. That’s apparently not the case here, though, and that entertains him. So, he pauses, clears his throat, and offers Georgette a hand in the most ‘charismatic and confident businessman’ way ever – a gesture clearly done countless times before.

As Mars and his Raichu pause to take care of a nearby Pidgey, Georgette's attention is drawn to the taller grass where a Dunsparce wiggles into view. Observing the pokemon curiously, she gives a nod to her Froslass who launches forwards with a Draining Kiss. It's not long before the back and forth is over with, and a pokeball is thrown to capture the Dunsparce.

With that accomplished, her head tilts to the side when Mars speaks again. "No," she confirms, her eyebrow arching subtly as a hand is offered to her. The woman looks from Mars's hand to his face, her brow minutely furrowed as she pieces together the new information. "CEO," she repeats, her mouth opening and then closing - abruptly her expression changes and she exclaims, "Oh! You are in charge of a bank, no?"

Making absent motions with her hands as she speaks, she admits, "Excited, but also nervous." Her nose wrinkles faintly before she continues, "I am worried she will turn hostile. Tyranitar can be difficult to keep. They need lots of challenges."

The confirmation of Mars's profession widens Georgette's eyes, interest evident in their blue-green depths. With a laugh, she then offers brightly, "Yes, I have seen it." Her timbre now playful she tacks on, "Sometimes I even use it, no? You must be busy often."

The small woman is soon distracted by a flash of yellow darting out from the trees, revealing a Swablu. "Oh," she breathes out in surprise, her gaze casting briefly askance as if gauging if Mars also sees the oddity before them. She turns to Alouette, the icy maiden pokemon enthralled with curiosity at the Swablu; lifting a single hand, the Froslass allows the Swablu to land there, and odd mix of hellish chitters and soft chirps passing between the pair. An accord apparently struck, Alouette chirps at Georgette and a pokeball is offered to the little Swablu, her breath held for a moment as the little pokemon debates.

There’s a light chuckle when Georgette speaks of her concerns regarding her Pupitar’s evolution, perhaps because he too has been in similar situations a few times before. ”Hmm… I get that. It was kind of like that for me when a couple of my Magikarp evolved to Gyarados. I guess the best you can do is do what you can to meet a Tyranitar’s needs and train her well before the evolution happens.”

Mars is no pokémon expert, nor would he ever claim to be one, but he does have a vast collection, and among them, quite a few that he has personally spent a lot of time training. That is sure to teach someone a thing or two about pokémon care, no?
