As Eva makes her way over the small hilltop, she finally catches sight of the Zarude. She canters through a section of tall grass, stirring up the pokemon that rest inside. A small group of Cherubi leave their resting place, startled by the monkey’s intrusion. They’re led by a rather odd looking version of them. Then again, it wasn’t uncommon to see shiny pokemon in the Safari Zone. Eva is too far to intervene, so she watches the group waddle off into the distance, “Hey! Acacia! Wait for me!”

By the time Eva’ jogs to catch up with the legendary, she finds the ape huddled over a something nestled in the grass. She seems entranced by whatever it is.

Eva approaches with caution in case it is something easily startled. When she leans over the Zarude’s shoulder, she’s surprised to see a little Togepei nestled into a small bed in the long grass. The baby was smiling, reaching up anxiously at the Zarude, “I think she’s wants to be picked up, Acacia,” Eva encourages her with a small tap on the back.

Large, gentle hands reach out to scoop up the baby pokemon. The Zarude smiles in delight as she baby happily squeals in her arms, “Looks like you made a new friend! Want to come with us?” Eva offers the Shiny pokemon a Safari Ball.

Acacia grunts happily, dancing in place as the Togepei fades into the pokeball. Eva’s bright smile shows how excited she is for the Zarude to have a new little friend. Perhaps the mythical pokemon had more of a maternal instinct than she assumed. Of course, Eva wasn’t assuming the Zarude had maternal instinct to begin with. However, being a pack animal, it does make sense to want to grow your family, “We’ll take her out to play later, ok?”

Acacia frowned, obviously not delighted with that answer. She didn’t have much time to wallow in her sorrows. The sharp sting of a POISON FANG nipped her in the butt.

Acacia howled, leaping into the air and over to the side to glance behind and see what happened. A spunky little Nidoran hisses, huffing at the much larger pokemon through low growls. It seemed the Nidoran wasn’t a fan of the Zarude taking the Togepei from the Safari Zone.

With furrowed brows, the mythical pokemon smacked the Nidoran away with VINE WHIP. Similar to the Togepei, the Nidoran displayed a unique color pattern. For science, she tossed a pokeball at the Shiny pokemon, hoping to take it home with her as well.

Eva scoops up the Nidoran’s pokeball and tucks it away into the side of her pack, “Good one, Acacia,” she praises, reaching around to the other side to access a berry. The Zarude happily accepts it and turns to keep running through the field while munching on the tart berry.

A flock of Fletchling stir, rising from the tall grass as the large grass-type frolics by. Eva watches them disappear into a nearby patch and continues to follow the Zarude.

Acacia takes off again, her long stride leaving the small woman behind. This time, Eva doesn’t try to run to catch up. If she did, she’d just exhaust herself before her Safari Trip would be over. By the time she finds the Zarude again, the ape is playing with another baby pokemon.

“I didn’t realize you were so playful,” or gentle when it came to the smaller babies. Eva watches briefly as the Zarude happily calps her hands. The green Azumaril is bouncing happily on its tail, blowing big bubbles for Acacia to reach out and pop with a large finger. Each burst leaves her clapping and rocking in her seat.

“Another friend, huh?” Acacia nods enthusiastically, gently picking up the baby to present it to Eva, “Ok, fine,” se drops her third Safari Ball onto the giggling Azumaril, sucking it up inside and letting it fall into the palm of the Zarude.

If only all the pokemon in the Safari Zone wanted to be friends like the Azumaril. Perhaps the raging Ponyta was just jealous of the ape’s gentleness. The FLAME CHARGE was swift and struck true. The Grass-type wailed in response, a loud guttural cry echoing across the plain. Acacia turns to face her opponent, a rather smug looking filly was smirk that dared the Zarude to charge her.

Vines whipped out from the ground, thick and sturdy. The thundered across the ground as the missed their target. The nimble Ponyta dodged nearly all of them. Finally, one caught the pony off guard. Thinner vines curled around the fire-type’s fetlocks, BINDING it in place for Eva to throw her last Safari Ball.
