Set had this really unnerving case of resting bitch face—or maybe it was just inherent with the Natu line, the way their soulless eyes follow whatever they fixated on.

And this happened to fixate on the Eelektross that had now fired off a powerful flash-bang worth of electricity.

Calmly, ever so quietly—the Xatu then blinked out of existence with a Teleport, and the bolt of electricity crashed down not a moment too soon.

Now where was the avian going to reappear, is the question…

Xatu used Teleport to evade the incoming attack! Future Sight will strike after 1 round!

The bird was gone. Eele stood there perplexed, wondering why she wasn’t looking at some good ol’ fried Xatu after having released a huge amount of electricity. She couldn’t make heads or tails of it. She began to look around, left, right, one might think the panic was setting in, but it was just confusion. Oh no, she would have her prey one way or the other.

The metaphorical hairs on its back were rising in anticipation as if it felt something coming towards it. Something in the future, perhaps? A sense of foreboding doom. Yet it knew not what it was, nor did it feel like trying to figure that out.

Instead, figuring the Xatu would reappear somewhere around it. It began to once again form the boulders, this time in a circle with itself at the center. Before it shot them out in yet another Rock Slide-like attack, hopefully, hitting the Xatu wherever it would appear.

See, the thing with Set was—

Due to him being one of the older Psychic-typed avians Alexei owned, the other was very much smarter and wiser to the tactics of whatever else other battles had gone down while there were other challengers.

Of course the Xatu would watch both traditional and non-traditional challenges; and a few moments later, the cheeky avian appeared—hilariously not on the ground, but atop one of the cascading boulders that were raining down around the arena.

“Oh, boy,” Alexei muttered under his breath as he heard the Xatu caw once, loudly, before the brunt of the Future Sight a couple of rounds earlier came crashing down on the Eelektross—and at the same time, the ‘soulless’ avian had also launched a blob of rainbow-colored Psychic energy.

Two for one, this was the reason why he preferred to have Set fight on his own, because it was like the damned avian wasn’t a Pokémon sometimes, but a cold, calculated—

Future Sight strikes the Eelektross! Xatu used Psychic!

The Eelektross allowed what made for a frustrated roar among its specie to escape from it. This bird with its cold deep dark stare was nowhere to be found. And if she couldn’t see it, then it couldn’t be grilled. Where was it? A thought crossed its mind, it was a bird…

The Eelektross turned its gaze upwards only to spot the bird in the air for a brief second. A brief Nani?-face appeared before the Eelektross was slammed to the ground by a force of unknown but powerful psychic power. For a small glimmer of a second, the Eelektross tried to get up, only to be beaten down once more by a blast of Psychic energy.

Bruised and beaten did it rise once more, though there was little in terms of power left within it. Still, Eele did not wish to go down without a fight. One last try, one last attack. Electricity gathered inside of it, small sparks began to fly around it until it sent a THUNDERBOLT towards the mockingly unemotional bird.

Seeing where this is heading. Elinor readies the Eelektross's Pokéball. Ready to call it back when it is defeated.

The unyielding stare that the Xatu was flashing the Eelektross on the other side of the field—

It was like Set was taunting the other to ‘come and get me!’ as he flew upward—before surprise, surprise—another bolt of electricity came crashing down from the skies above.

Just as the other was about to throw another Future Sight, the Xatu’s flight pattern was unceremoniously interrupted as the powerful Electric-type attack came crashing down on him.

He was hardy, but that fucking electricity hurt!

Defiant until the last, the avian screeched, chucking one last Psychic chunk of rainbow-colored energy at the Eelektross.

He wasn’t going to go down without a fight, oh no.

But another attack would finish him off, too.

The Eelektross had barely the strength to stand, much less dodge. And so as the Rainbow washed upon him, punching her to the ground with all its force. She could do naught but give in and be swept along. Consciousness faded quickly afterward.

Elinor activated her Pokéball and sucked the Eelektross back into its comfortable home. “Well done, Eele.” She spoke the Pokéball before placing it back in her Pocket and retrieving another Pokéball in the process. “Your turn, Fletch!” She announced as she threw a Pokéball into the air.

In a bright red light did the Talonflame emerge squawking loudly as it flapped its wings, keeping itself afloat in the air. It looked towards its trainer for quick reassurance and was granted a nod. And with that it was off towards the Xatu, flames sparking around its body lighting itself ablaze as it charged towards the Dual-type, intent on slamming into it.

And it was now time to knock the self-proclaimed ‘Tower of Babel’ (Set) down.

The Talonflame was too fast to see, and Alexei let out an appreciative whistle at the sight of the pseudo-phoenix avian that took to the field so fast, it had knocked his Xatu down and out like a bowling ball scoring a direct strike on a bunch of bowling pins.

Another red beam of light recalled the proud, yet defeated avian, and one last shadow flew forward—his Skarmory, Valkyrie.

Oh, boy.

Without further ado, the Skarmory let out a loud screeching noise, before aiming a potent Night Slash at the flaming opponent.

Xatu is knocked out! Skarmory is out on the field!

The Talonflame felt a great sense of pride the Xatu was knocked down from its Metaphorical tower. Still, it would not do to grow prideful. She wasn’t Eele after all.

The next opponent appeared. A bird, much like itself. She wondered whom of the two was quickest. This would be an interesting battle, even if Fletch didn’t consider herself much of a battler. Yet, she would do her best.

A quick Night Slash flew from the Skarmory. Talonflame halted the basking of its wings, allowing it to fall for a brief second, just barely dodging the attack as it flew past her, before unfurling her wings once more, soaring upon the wings of freedom as it rose above the Skarmory spreading itself, in the sky to praise the sun. It sent a loud cry into the air as its body sent a quick flash of light into the surrounding area.

Suddenly the air grew hot, the combined moisture from the rain before, adding into the air as humidity as the Talonflame’s SUNNY DAY began to take effect. Once Talonflame had done setting up its ideal battlefield, it could once again turn its attention to Skarmory.

Unfortunately the first attack didn’t hit, and the Skarmory let out a grating, screeching noise that was almost like nails scraping down a blackboard—and saw that the other had made the atmosphere suddenly broiling hot.

Even Alexei had noticed that the clear weather had turned absolutely sunny—which made him rummage around in his jacket to pull out his shades and put them on; because out of all the weather changes that existed, the one he rarely used in his non-traditional challenges was Sunny Day because he couldn’t think of anything for this particular occurrence…

The Skarmory then braced herself and dived down after the Talonflame, chasing after the other avian in an attempt to slam her hard Steel Wings into the opponent.

Setting up the Sunny weather had taken quite a toll. And so, when the Skarmory came charging down upon it. Talonflame couldn’t dodge. The heavy Steel wing slammed right onto it. She allowed herself to follow the force, trying not to parry it, as she knew that’d almost certainly be impossible.

She was sent towards the ground at quite the speed, just barely managing to avoid it through sheer willpower and dumb luck. A small sigh escaped her, it was much too close for her comfort. Still, she would have to return the favor in kind.

With the sun’s beating rays upon her back, she speeds up. Body spontaneously combusts once more, as she sends herself charging towards the Skarmory with a series of powerful beats of its wings.

Meanwhile, Elinor was starting to sweat, having not expected that Sunny Day would be this hot, and therefore came unprepared. Alas, that was her fault, and she would have to deal with the warmth by merely waving a tiny cool breeze against her face using only her hand.

Sure, that attack would work, for now, however the longer the heat above persisted, the more irritable the Skarmory became—and that would be the key to her undoing.

Letting out another angry squawk, she then met the incoming blur of flames head-on, never mind if the impact hurt more than usual due to the flames igniting and heating up her metallic feathers.

At such close range, she couldn’t miss, and therefore let her big-ass claws on her feet Slash out at the Talonflame, an attempt to repel it and put some space between herself and the other avian so she could pivot into position.

However the heat of the sun above would slowly begin to take its toll on her the longer she stayed out in it…

The loud thud of Fiery bird against Metallic Avian resounded in the air of the arena. Fires licking hungrily at the Skarmory. Though the range allowed its talons to equally lick at Talonflame. Screeching in pain as the slash tore through its feathery coat. Fiery feathers fell faintly down towards the ground, raining its potential fire hazard until they one after another was snuffed out by their own hunger.

Still, Talonflame was not about to let the Skarmory get away with such a vile attack on its appearance. Using all the power it could muster, it kept the flames going surrounding its body as it would keep charging into the Skarmory, and press against the Skarmory as much as possible to cause more burning using its FLAME’ing BODY.

This time, the Talonflame’s attack would strike true, and as the flaming meteor collided with the Skarmory, the metallic avian let out a surprised shriek as she felt her wings catch fire.

And ow, ouch, that fucking hurt, because Fire-type attacks could really do a number on her! It was at this point Alexei realized that he was in trouble—he knew how irritable his Skarmory got whenever she was burned.

“Valk, don’t you dare panic—” he called out, but it was too late, the Skarmory was now on the war path and losing her shit because her wings were on fire and it fucking stung, it hurt so much she let out a pained screech before suddenly lashing out wildly with another attempt at Night Slash!

Skarmory has been Burned!

The two birds clashes in a feathery conflict in the air. Talonflame burned with the heat of the sun. Its fire trying to eat away at the coating of the metallic bird. Though its opponent wasn’t intent on letting it win. She slashes of the night, digging into her. With each cut, staying in the air became ever so difficult.

But Fletch was intend on winning, she would prove Elinor the formidable foe that she was, regardless of the fact that it was the Pokémon that were doing the heavy lifting.

Talonflame would keep the flames going around its body as it tried to latch onto the Skarmory with its claws. This close proximity to the firebird would surely continue to cause damage even if the FLAME CHARGE, now lacked the charging part. Still, her breath was growing heavy, her sight getting blurrier, she would not last much longer, but she hoped that neither would the Skarmory.

Fact of the matter was that the Skarmory’s temper got shorter and shorter the more her metallic feathers were set alight—and it was clear that the Talonflame didn’t want to let go, despite her wings already feeling so much hotter than normal (not to mention, really painful as well).

Much as she wanted to attack the Talonflame, there was no way she was going to do that—and so if the Talonflame wanted to hang on—so be it.

Instead of trying to break free from the other avian’s grip, she deliberately used Agility and angled her flight trajectory downward and not skywards; because it was getting harder and harder to shake off the Talonflame.

There was only one way to end this: to go out in a burst of glory.

Even if it made her look like she was crazy.

“Valk, what are you—!” he exclaimed as he saw what she was doing—

Before a loud crashing noise echoed throughout the arena.

Skarmory has been Burned!

Skarmory used Agility and flew downward in an attempt to shake off the Talonflame!
