The fight was dragging out. Talonflame held on as much as she could, much to the dismay of her opponent. Still, the Skarmory was not without ideas. And though the flames carried on, fueled by the sun and the Talonflame’s own energies, the Skarmory began its descent towards the ground.

Albeit the descent was not slow. In fact, faster than comfortably did they charge to the ground, leaving behind a trail of flames. But Talonflame held on as best she could. Not seeing how close they came, as she assumed the Skarmory would try to halt the descent.
Alas no such luck.

Talonflame felt the sweet embrace of hard ground against her as her flames died out. Beaten, bruised, and most of all tired. She could do no more. Though she could only wonder how the Skarmory was faring after that stunt as she faded out of consciousness.

The battle was too close to tell, however since the Skarmory had hit the ground first and hadn’t gotten up from the moment she’d hit the ground—

“Geez, Valk,” he groaned as he pinched the bridge of his nose (in a strangely similar way that a certain friend of his would do the same gesture when fronted with insane stupidity even he couldn’t believe) before making his way across the arena and pulling out the Skarmory’s Heavy Ball and recalling the fallen avian.

“You really got her with the Flame Charge, you know… she hates being set alight. But then again, any Steel-type wouldn’t like that at all,” he began as he dropped the shrunken marble down a pocket of his jacket, while his other hand was busy rummaging for something.

Once he’d found it, he was on her side of the field.

“Your intensity reminds me of your cousin, never mind the fact he doesn’t usually battle with traditional challenges while he’s going around the Gym Circuit,” he continued with a chuckle.

(Oh, he knew who he was lightly shading, but then again. Heh.)

“If there’s one thing you should keep with you, it’s your tenacity. I could tell you were afraid deep inside, but on the outside you kept calm and didn’t let that bother you.”

He then gestured for her hand and dropped something small into it.
