She can feel the heavy psychic pressure of the Gallade on her back, trying to direct her movements through the crowd. With each step, it grows almost frantic. Already on edge form, well, everything, the normally patient doctor’s patience was wearing thin. In simple defiance, she proceeds along her chosen path.

Heavier and heavier, an invisible force pushing her to turn right. It slows her steps, and her push against the psychic type as her stumbling forward as the force breaks, “Whoa!” it takes a few steps to catch herself and an extra spin to avoid running over the child crossing her path.

Wait. Child? Was that-?

Her heart sinks into her stomach as panic sets in, “Eris?” the name is a whisper. Blade sighs, shaking his head. This is what he was trying to avoid.

She slips through the gaps rather easily, her small build providing tons more advantage in a messy space such as this but no matter how fast she seems to be, she always seems to stop just before she disappears out of Eva's line of sight and takes off again when the doctor draws closer.

Is this a prank? Or is this some kind of trap? Perhaps, one might even associate such movements with hesitation and familiarity. Either way, she seems to be travelling with a certain destination in mind...

There’s a sense of familiarity in the child’s rather vacant expression. Too stunned to speak, the silence stretches on for what seems like an eternity. Eva wasn’t sure how she was going to react when seeing Eris again – or how she may react seeing Eva after everything that happened between her and MATIAS SILPH. Eva assumed the child would hate her, maybe even lash out at her if she’s as far gone as Matias claims she is, “Where’s Reiner?”

Eva glances around to find the feline. If anyone was going to lash out, it would be the pokemon only to protect Eris. The Child doesn’t answer, only scurries away into the crowd, “Eris! Wait! Are you-“ are you alright?

A maternal instinct smothers doubt, and Eva gives chase, using her own small frame to dip and weave through the people. Eris is much better but Eva seems to be able to keep her in her sight. Blade does his best to follow behind Eva but is separated in the crowd, leaving the doctor alone to follow after the child.

Colours and shapes blend easily in a faceless crowd and before she knows it, it seems like Eris has suddenly split into two. And both figures seem to be heading in opposite directions, one dipping into dark alleyways while the other pushes through the lively market street?

As Eris seems to split into two, it is enough to make Eva stop and wonder. Tricks are fresh on her mind. She had recently fallen victim to KING WAYLAND’s trap, and still had the healing scar across her cheek to prove it. Matias’s description of Eris is still fresh in her mind.

It’s time to give up on her.

She’s gone, innocence soiled by rocket and whatever hell Matias put her through. Was Eva meant to be the victim of revenge for MATIAS SILPH’s sins once again? Hesitation stalls her in place between the two copies of Eris. A part of her can’t trust Matias’s assessment, her trust in him has been challenged too much recently. She has to find out for herself.

[attr="class","inner-finally"]The alleyway creeps with shadows and grime - Clearly unused for weeks on end by the looks of things. And yet, what's strange isn't what's present in the alleyway but rather, what's missing.

Though the alley is a straight road, there seems to be no trace of Eris. Stepping any further in gives way to scurrying Rattatas and Thievuls scavenging through overturned trash bins. Sparks of electricity still sizzle in the area, the smell of ozone quietly drifting through the air if she goes straight on through.

Then suddenly, a presence looms behind her, a pair of hands lightly pushing her forwards as a light Spark of energy gives her a small shock. When Eva turns, Eris is already running back from the direction she came from, back out into the sunlit streets with chiming laughter.

The dark, grimy alley gives her pause again. Nothing but wild pokemon lurk in the shadows. There’s no sign of the child and no sign of a person in general. Careful steps bring her forward, cautious steps. The option that this could be a trap still weighs heavy on her mind, “Eris,” she whispers loudly, glancing around a dumpster to only see a Rattata scurry away.

There must be another way out of here and she assumes it’s at the end. Just as she’s prepared to move forward, a sharp SPARK stings her back, “Ouch!” she gasps, startled by the sudden tingle.

Eva whips around to see what looks like Eris scurrying off. Is that laughter she hears? Her jaw tenses as annoyance creeps in, “Not cool, Eris!” she snaps, taking off after her into the streets.

And just when she thinks she can reach her, a hand stretches out to tap her on the shoulder when –

“Reiner!” she gasps in shock as she watches the large feline tackle the child to the ground. There’s a moment of panic when she see Eris’s small body engulfed by the massive cat’s. Her lips part to ask if she’s alright when her voice comes from another direction.

The doctor’s eyes widen when she looks towards the source and see Eris, the real Eris. Eva’s confused, who was tackled? The panic sets in again as a knot curls across her stomach. Any words she could think of to say are caught in her throat. So, she doesn’t say anything. Simply looks down at the child she once loved unconditionally. Now, she’s not quite sure how she feels.

Though he makes no move to look at her, Reiner tenses when Eris shifts to get off his back, feeling her left side always pressed to his flank as she moves to the other child that had just been tackled.

And when she finally reaches out to pull the child out, all that appears is a trailing pile of purple slime. It drips through her fingers and colours her arm, dying it purple as a rather derpy face begins to bubble to the surface.

"Why did you choose me of all things, Proteus? Now look at what we have to deal with." She murmurs, gesturing for Reiner to ease off on the pressure as she continues to gather the gurgling puddle of Ditto. When she finally gets back to her feet, she's dusting her knees, carefully brushing her hair that does well in hiding her left eye.

Something she has to deal with. It pains Eva to hear that. A time not so long ago, Eris would have happily run to give her a hug and Eva would return it with vigor. For a brief moment, Eva’s gaze glances down to the amorphous pile of Ditto in Eris’s hands. It makes sense now that she was likely being tricked by the little pokemon rascal.

Eris seemed just as surprised as the doctor, so it brought some comfort that this wasn’t some sort of ‘trap’. Still, Blade is wary. He slides in behind Eva, a gentle hand settling on her shoulder – just in case.

“I’m sorry, I thought –“ a finger points towards the puddle. Her words stop because she quite honestly doesn’t know what to say. What do you say to a child that almost killed the man you love and vice versa? That chose the enemy over you time and time again? Does that make her the enemy?

[break][break]

The shine of tears builds in her eyes. She hadn’t coped with the loss of Eris, and the instability of her and Matias left her feeling vulnerable and fragile, “I’m gonna go,” It’s probably best for everyone they don’t prolong the encounter. Perhaps pretend it never happened.

Is she trying to suppress her emotions or trying to figure out the best course of action? What does she feel about Eva? The one who seems blind to the sins Matias has committed? The one who's caught up in a war she didn't choose to be involved in?

She swears she feels nothing, no more love for a person who would hang onto a murderer. But then what about THEO BECKETT? What about how she feels towards that man? Does she hate Eva for not stepping in? Does she blame her for the fresh wounds of loss? When she finally turns away and tries to leave, she swears that this'll be the last time they meet.

And yet, she catches her by the sleeve, fingers clutching so tight as she opens her mouth. But silence is the only thing that fills the space between, her thoughts growing so muddled as they scream and tear at her chest.

As she turns to leave, something stops her. The small, fragile clutch of a desperate child. There are things unsaid, but they penetrate the space between them. When Eris grabs ahold of her sleeve, there’s no way she can leave. It sparks the maternal instinct inside her again, which trumps her desire for comfort. Instead, she settles into the unknown.

She’s torn between two world. Eris has made a choice, to choose Rocket, to choose those that have brought so much loss to both of their lives that Eva could never forgive their sins.
