[attr=class, elisafont] [googlefont=Meddon] La Vie en Rose [break][break] [break] It was like watching a tragedy unfold in slow motion. Elisabeth tentatively reached a hand forward as if to stop Felix Gallagher from continuing to mangle the poor lily-of-the-valley, but he was so wholly focused in his concentration -- and frankly, the shears in his hands were so sharp -- she didn't dare to pull back the flowers before they ultimately faced their grim, short-stemmed conclusion. "Very uniform," she said at length, her expression something between amused, horrified, and strangely impressed. "A bit short for a bouquet though, I think. Perhaps we can use it for something else?"An idea came to her, whimsically and sudden, as Elisabeth picked up a sprig of the abandoned flowers and raised a finger, returning with a single red rose. Taking the floral shears from Felix with the grace of a school teacher revoking a child's access to scissors, she clipped it to a likewise short length, saying, "Have you ever worn a boutonniere?"The lily-of-the-valley were demoted to accent flowers, the emerald leaves set flush against them as the blooming red rose became the focal piece of the simple arrangement. Rather than twine, Elisabeth fetched a roll of tape from her satchel, then wound it around the base of the flowers and covered it with a simple blue ribbon. Her fingers rummaged next for a pincushion, placing one such pin between her lips as her hands took the completed floral ornament and found a place to put it on Felix's shirt. Where normally close proximity to another person would be stifling, here in the confines of her work, Elisabeth felt no such trepidation in crossing the space between her and another human being. Her brow was furrowed in concentration as she removed the pin from her lips to affix the boutonniere to the black fabric of his shirt, her gaze focused on the pleasing symmetry of its presentation as she finally stepped back to admire her work. "There. Not too bad, is it?" The sheer amount of items she had taken out of her satchel and left on the counter was beginning to be almost comical, and this time, she took a vanity mirror out to hand Felix so he could likewise see the result for himself. Blithely continuing on as she considered the matter, Elisabeth said, "The rest could be used for making more of these, or I suppose we could press the flowers into bookmarks. Waste not, want not, and so on and so forth."[break] [break] [break] ✿[newclass=".elisafont b"]color: #7bb661;[/newclass]
