It's not the first time that Gavin has stolen eggs from a daycare. It likely won't be the last. But with the sudden influx of eggs hatching from the newly opened hatchery with Pokerus and Illumina and who knew what else, eggs seemed a prime target for theft.

"I'm in position," he radios to his partner in crime, Gerald Kaiser . "Be ready to snatch the eggs and run."

Gavin had borrowed a Blissey from Rocket's supply just for this.

An EGG BOMB goes off in the small Daycare, and someone screams. The sound and smell drives them out of the lobby in a panic, leaving the delivery basket that had just been prepped on the counter ripe for the snatching.

"Go!"

Gerald was waiting in position. Clad in a hoodie and jeans, and with a facial mask on. He fake-coughed from time to time to pretend that he was sick, nobody would surely question a sick man with a mask. He sat upon one of the benches inside the lobby near the counter, he was awaiting the arrival of their target. It didn’t take long until it was placed on the counter, and then the order from his partner in crime came.

He readied himself. He was prepared for the Egg Bomb unlike everyone else. They screamed and ran for it. He pulled up his hoodie covering whatever else the mask did not as he ran for the delivery basket. He took a quick but firm grip on it and began to run with it out of the exit which they had both agreed on.

Wow, this was way too easy… Gerald thought as he ran

Like an air raid siren, the sudden howl of an alarm drowns out whatever Gavin might've called out to Gerald. He resorts to wide, sweeping gestures instead, jabbing his finger at a Corviknight in explanation.

A pin is yanked from his glasses, energy emitting a violent white glow and surrounding both Pokemon and trainer. The Corviknight, now much larger, ruffles its steel feathers and quarks impatiently.

"Get on!" Gavin yells, when Gerald is close enough. "They'll have blocked Teleport."

Apparently, they weren't the first thieves with big ideas.

Gerald saw the man before he heard him. Not that he could hear him at all for the siren blaring is an annoyingly loud noise in the air.

Gerald didn’t bat an eye as the Corviknight transformed. Not because he wasn’t surprised, but because he was simply too focused to give much thought as he pushed himself and their prize ever forward towards the now much larger Pokémon.

Once close enough he would jump onto the creature and try to secure a hold on the Pokémon so he wouldn’t fall off when it was time to take off. “Of course they have.” Gerald sighed. It would have been so much easier if they hadn’t. But such was the life of any common thief.

The silver Corviknight hooks its talons around the handle of the basket that Gerald had procured from the Daycare, taking off gently so as not to expel the eggs from their housing. A flap on the basket opens as an Eevee pokes its head out; apparently one of them had already hatched. Judging by the pattern on its tail, this one was female. There was nothing to do now but hope she had the sense to hang on tight.

The bird takes flight, carrying them high and above Verdanturf proper until they're lost in the cloud layer. Though Corviknight could defog the skies for better visibility, Gavin orders it otherwise.

Only once they've flown well away from the town does the bird land, its mega-evolution starting to fade.

"That was a hell of a rush. You all right?"

Gavin dismounts from the Corviknight's back, glancing at his partner-in-crime.

He allowed the Corviknight to secure a hold on their prize, and while doing so noticed an unusual wiggle on the lid, before climbing onto their getaway Pokémon. Holding on to the feathered friend wasn’t much of an issue. He had flown on Tropius before so flying wasn’t something new. Still, looking down never got easy. And so, after having done so for the briefest of seconds he promised himself to never do that again, until next time.

Luckily their flight wasn’t a long one. The Corviknight landed about as graceful as he had expected. Gerald dismounted well before Gavin. A sigh of relief escaped him as he felt his feet touch the secure ground. “By Arceus, I’ll never get used to that.” He mumbled while pulling down his mask, just as Gavin came about and asked his question.

“Yeah, yeah, I am fine,” Gerald answered as he allowed a quick hand to run through his hair as he pulled his hood down in one fluid motion. He turned his attention to their prize wondering if his eyes had deceived him when he spotted the lid wiggle.

Gavin feels nothing but an adrenaline rush from being so high in the air; heights had never bothered him so much as the crushing depths of the ocean, and so he admires the magnifying Hoennian landscape as his Corviknight takes them down.

It's not until he dismounts and Gerald speaks up that Gavin realises his companion might not be so acclimated to the skies. He pauses in the process of checking his belt and pockets to ensure nothing had been lost.

"Ah. Not a fan of flying?"

There's no judgement present in his tone, and he quickly returns to his task.

All there. Good.

The lid of the basket is nudged open by the snout of the earlier-hatched Eevee. Its eyes aren't even open yet, its tiny brown nose sniffing at the air. Gavin closes the lid with his foot, albeit gently.

"We'll be able to put in a teleportation request from here. You got a teleporter of your own or you need one of mine for the trip?"

“It’s not the flying I mind." He paused caught on the wording of what he was about to say. "It’s the potentially falling to my death part which gets me.” Gerald admitted. If there was some way he could be certain that it wouldn’t happen, then he would have no issues with heights. Being from Fortree City, he knew all too well what reckless handling of heights could do to a person.

Luckily it seemed Gavin wasn’t one to waste time on judgment. The man quickly returned to their job, and once Gerald felt ready so would he. “I do not own a teleporter. So yeah, if I may borrow one, then that’d be much appreciated.” He looked towards the basket as he spoke. He felt but a nudge of pity for the Eevee who had chosen to hatch during all of this. That was life, sometimes.
