"Ah, Sinistea... of course." Remiel chuckles, watching as a WAILMER surfaces nearby before blowing water out of its blowhole. The geyser, unfortunately, soaks his NOIVERN and draws its ire. The prince watches as it descends upon the little whale ferociously (DRAGON RUSH).

"Seven years?" The prince reiterates, sure to keep an ear on the conversation as he pulls out an empty luxury ball from his pack. "If you don't mind me asking... what's kept you away for so long?" Before the unconscious Wailmer sinks beneath the waves, he casts his ball for a capture.

Hydra tosses a Finneon up on the beach and Memo collects it in a Pokeball before it could thrash too much.

“Family,” he says, a soft exhale of laughter and a wry tone. “There are far too many of them in Galar. And we don’t get along.”

They had, after all, told him he was as good as dead to them and kicked him out on the street with nothing but the clothes on his back. And as good-natured as he was he wasn’t one to let bygones be bygones.

"Oh... I see." Though there is nothing he can really think to say in regard to Memo's confession at the moment, Remiel certainly understands. Family is a sensitive topic with the prince, too, after all. His mother's controlling attitude alone would have surely driven others insane.

As if descending from the heavens to mock them, however, a HONCHKROW interrupts their conversation. Its aggressive push for territory is met with a swift thrashing from Remiel's Noivern (DRAGON RUSH). When the cloud of black feathers clears, the royal pulls an empty ball out of his pack and casts it down at it.

He grins, realizing he must’ve caught Remiel off guard. “It’s okay. We’ve all got one. Some of them are just worse than others.” Was there anyone in the world that loved their entire family?

A Slowpoke toddles along the sand, obliviously bumping into Memo’s leg; it sits on its rear, smiling at nothing. Memo zaps it with a Pokeball.

“Have you been to any other regions or is Hoenn your main squeeze?”

Memo was far too absorbed in the weirdness of the fish he’d never seen before leaping clear out of the water to focus on catching it.

“What the heck is that thing?”

It was quite the specimen, having evaded Hydra’s territorial lashing, to make it this close to Olí-- and shore.

Remiel’s Noivern makes quick work of the thing and Memo shakes his head to clear his thoughts.

“Yeah. Hoenn is really… weird. Like Arceus wants to take a thousand years of drastic, lifechanging events and shove it into one human lifespan.”

Back on her A-game, Hydra knocks a Tropius out of the sky with dragon pulse. Memo snags it in a Pokeball before it can hit the water and be dragged to its demise.

“Yours too, huh?” he asks on a half-snorted laugh when Remiel mentions his controlling mom. He didn’t know whether it was endearing or terrifying that so many mothers seemed to be so fucking crazy.

“Yeah, you get it. A horrible and wicked social experiment for the gods.” His eyes roll skyward, but he smiles.

His smile turns into a frown as Remy details his apparent book of life. “That’s ridiculous,” Memo says, “nobody-- you can’t plan that stuff. I mean, sure, parents can pick a school. But who you’ll marry? Pfft.”

But Remiel had gotten out. Just as Memo had.

“But we got away! And we’re here, surviving in the shadow of the apocalypse.” He gestures towards the wide blue sky. “There’s hope for us yet.”

His Skarmory is off poking amidst the remnants of a coral reef, beached upon the atoll as the water levels warp and change. She strikes with her sharp beak in the gaps in the coral bones, looking for a juicy Pyukumuku. Instead, her beak strikes something hard, and she jumps back with an angry squawk.

Rising from the sand and mud, a massive Drednaw groans laboriously, clapping its jaw shut with a sound like thunder. Acero screams, rattling her wings against her side with a horrible noise, like a sheet metal barn in a tornado.

“Don’t get your head bitten off--,” Memo cautions, his voice caught on an island wind and carried over the sea. Acero lunges, scraping at the Drednaw with her talons out, but the metal claw does little to the beast but carve dull lines in its shell. With a quickness unbecoming of its size, it launches its face towards the bird, but she’s danced back out of reach of the chomping jaws, just in time.

Acero takes flight and targets the back of the Drednaw’s head, firing off a swift at point blank range-- the golden stars embed themselves into the teal skin atop the snapping turtle’s skull, fizzling and popping into radiant sparks. Shaking its head, the Drednaw lows its pain, and Memo takes the opportunity to throw a Pokeball, stopping the fight that would’ve dragged out until the atoll was submerged again.
