She would squeal at any Pokémon she found pretty, which admittedly were most Pokémon ever discovered. Jonina had always had a habit of kindly extending her hand to small or weak creatures. This was expected from someone part of a family like hers.[break][break]

The Joy surname is well known in the healthcare department. Also, a notably big family, big enough that it is common to find members of the family in every region. Jonina was raised by a branch of the Joy’s in Floaroma Town in Sinnoh. It was usually tradition for the females to take on the role of nurses, at least that is how it worked when it came to Jonina’s immediate family. [break][break]

The long locks of perfectly combed pink hair, the white heels tapping on the shiny floor. Jonina always sat and watched her female family members work. It was not only the way they worked she admired, but everything about them.[break][break]

Jonina was formerly known as Joe, however she found out that she was not supposed to be a boy since she was very young. Not because of stereotypes or because of her family’s absurd rules discouraging her from joining the medic team, it was deeper. It was her heart letting her know.[break][break]

While her close family discouraged Jonina to live as her true self, make the changes she deemed necessary, and move to become a field nurse and travel, her grandmother helped her and supported her. At fourteen she started her transition, no regrets.[break][break]

She changed her name to match her grandmother, she gave her a Happiny (Her first Pokémon she got to love and evolve). And now, with her help, she kept her oath to travel around. Now in Hoenn, she wears her family name proudly, determined to heal as many Pokémon as she can, even if some family members would rather have it the other way. Oh well![break][break]
