nina was about to protest when danny saved himself. she stopped short, smiling as he slid in beside the drunk. she went to sit across instead, hand still around her drink.

”thanks.” while she meant it subtly to danny, her eyes said it more to their 'new friend'.

she took a small sip with curled lips, set it down, and leaned over the table a little. her arm went across to offer a limp-wristed handshake.

”i’m molly. what’s your name?”

she smiled and withdrew her hand. it slipped around her glass again, which remained on the table as she listened.

danny was getting down to the meat of the matter, and nina was more than happy to get on with it. this meant she could go home sooner. she glanced over to danny and then back to the bar owner, blue and pale gold eyes homing in on him with a much more predatory stare.

her drink rose to her lips casually, and she said nothing, waiting for shawn’s answer.

she turned more in the booth so it was mostly her back facing the rest of the bar. her head tilted to the side, nibbling on her straw while danny began the threats.

at the bar owner’s breath of defensiveness, she stepped in from the other side.

”you’ll find out.”

it was vague, but sometimes not knowing was the scariest, right? she sipped, eyes not leaving him.

being vague works in their favor this time. shawn concedes, swallowing what little pride he has before standing. he grumbles, rubbing his bald head as he brushes past danny hard enough to get him to spill his beer.[break][break]

danny sighs, then turns back to nina as his demeanor shifts to his regular self the moment shawn disappears behind closed doors.[break][break]

"i really do hope he pays this time."

nina’s eyes didn’t leave the bar owner as he stood. her periwinkle head turned further to the side when he bumped into danny, a certain attitude rising like she were considering standing up for him.

but no, because danny should’ve stood up for himself.

instead, she sat back in the booth, eyes lowering to the puddle of beer dripping off the table.

”yeah,” she agreed. ”that guy sucks.”

with a long sip, her gaze raised to danny. he'd changed. it was... funny? impressive?

”do you want to move?”

she wanted to finish her drink at least.
