The pokémon never makes a sound. None of them ever do. This one, in particular, stares at him with its singular unblinking eye the moment Mars calls it out of a Luxury Ball, bobbing from side-to-side before circling around him – as if inspecting to make sure he truly is who he seems to be.

Once its curiosity is satisfied, it wanders ahead, but only a few metres and making the occasional pause to make sure its “trainer” (perhaps “owner” would be a more appropriate word, or maybe even “companion”) is following closely.

”You wouldn’t happen to be taking me to another one of your own, would you?”

Mars asks with a sigh, but he knows well that there’s no way it’s that easy. Things are never easy when it comes to the Unown.

At least at this time of the day the route is mostly empty, but that means that there’s nothing to distract him from the one word that fills his mind when looking at the Symbol Pokémon…

What a CEO would be doing out in the field, going to a mountain known for death, remembrance, and ruin seemed like a complete 180 of what people of that type would want to be. However, the more he kept to himself, the more Avian thought the strange pokemon - if one could even call that thing one - must be the reason. [break][break]

Neither he nor Kala, the playful little Litleo he chose to have alongside him for the walk, had ever seen an Unknown before. Avi thought it was creepy with its unwavering, almost unblinking eye. Kala, however, saw nothing more than a floating playmate. She yowled at it to get the entity's attention but followed suit as it continued on its merry way, the light from her flaming mane a torch to the group. "Don't get ahead of yourself, Kala." Her master warned, his words falling on deaf ears of a curious cub.[break][break]

As he made sure the little lioness posed no threat to the unnerving creature, the question that thrummed at his skull like a frenzied Trumbeak had be asked. "An Unknown? Seems fitting, perhaps even flattering for the little thing. If it's not too imposing to ask, what is the purpose behind collecting these...Unknowns?" Of course, Avian would never admit to not having an idea what they were for, but would be more than happy to put his two cents on the matter. If it was pleasant and well thought out, then praise be where it's due. On the other hand, he was no-one to idly stand by with imbeciles that went to foolish lengths for mortal things such as money or fleeting fame. Things that were done must have had importance and worthy significance, especially if he were to donate his time to the cause.

As one of Team Rocket’s four admins, Mars is mostly in charge of business relations and finances. Money, a banker’s area of expertise, yet in this case, not his only expertise.

On paper, some of the most peculiar among those other skills are the reason why he’s the one in charge of researching the Unown Report on an official capacity – his experiences with Unown and the Report, the amount of Unown he has in his collection, the obvious link to the Report, and also that which only a few know of. In reality, however, the reason why he’s looking into it is because he wants to know more… No, he needs to know more. To understand. To learn the truth about it all.

”Is this your first time seeing one?” His companion’s question is met with another, his tone lacking in any judgement. Calm as ever, amber eyes wandering from the Unown-S to @avian. He had been brought here for a few reasons, but mostly it’s because Mars likes getting to know Rocket’s members.

”It doesn’t seem like much, right? Would you believe that there are things these pokémon can do that no other can?”

His expression hadn’t revealed much until now, but when the question is asked, it’s the slightest of smirks that tugs at his lips.

The way that his superior asked the question about the Unknown, it was painfully apparent that this was Avian's first time being around the entity. "No sense in fabricating an encounter. I don't exactly get paid to play Tomb Researcher as much as other endeavors." He shrugged off what sheepish behavior he showed, "Not that this is a nice change of pace." [break][break]

Kala continued to follow in joyous suit of the floating rune. She paused for a moment to gawk at a pokemon she had yet to see; the pokemon's body was bulbous and blue, it's cry somewhat irritating to her ears. Her muzzle wrinkled as she hobbled closer to it and meekly roared at it with all her might. The Wobbuffet glanced in her direction but was no more bothered to share it's attention with her further than that. She proudly trotted back to her master and pawed at his pant leg. As Avi picked the cub up, Mars continued to talk to him. Were he a fool, he would have thought the man was teasing him. Avian tilted his head as he inspects the smirk with his own inquiry. "Something tells me by that smirk of yours that there's more than meets the eye." The assassin chuckles, trying to walk that thin thread between professional and comfortable. He knew that there were creatures out there that could possess the living, some that could take shape of people around them, and even those that could bend reality to their will; there was hardly anything pokemon could do that would manage to captivate him into awe. "I take it these things can do some things that could give Rocket the upper hand. Either that, or perhaps are like pieces to some untold legend?" There was no sarcasm in his words, but now he was interested more than repulsed by the Uknown's ungodly figure. [break][break]

For an organisation to function properly, it’s important to understand it; to know every aspect of it. And, for Mars to use Team Rocket to his greatest advantage, he finds importance in knowing the stance of its members on the things that relate to his goals and pursuits.

Unown definitely do, and @avian is not wrong about them: Team Rocket could gain a lot from collecting them, if they actually cared for doing so.

After all, hadn’t Unown been the whole reason why they were able to make it out of the Tree of Life when they had ventured into its strange dimension? Mars would like to give himself some credit, but the truth of the matter is that all he had done had been to give a command and hope.He had believed in their abilities, and they had delivered in full.

”An astute observation. There’s a reason they’re so sought after despite how unassuming they look.” He likes people who can pick up on things like those. So many would dismiss a pokémon like Unown because they don’t seem like much on their own. Hell, there was even a time when Mars would have too, but he has learned better than to underestimate them.

”There’s a lot that isn’t known about them-... Which makes their name fitting, huh?” A light, soft chuckle leaves him, lasting only a second. The admin watches the Symbol Pokémon as he walks, which in turn watches Avian’s Litleo. ”Their power is in their numbers. The more that gather, the stronger they are.”

It reminds him of a conversation he had recently with Athena (Yui Fujin Silph), and how she had compared Unown to Team Rocket itself. Mars finds that he agrees with that analogy even now.
