after his encounter with Chu-e Choi — or rather what he thought was the late underboss, jayden was shaken up. rightfully so. part of him wanted to go home and sink himself in his blankets, as he believed people like mint frost would have done. another part of him wanted very much not to do that, because that meant that he would be admitting his defeat.

[break][break] what that meant to him.. however, he was not willing to say.

[break][break] he considered calling Felix Gallagher , but then decided against it. though he was certainly on friendlier terms with the other these days, that was not the relationship that they had. it would have been awkward.

[break][break] it was at this time that jayden had looked up and saw the roof of Georgette Bluebottle 's gym in the distance. it was hidden far away, deep in the recessed of the island. suddenly, that was where jayden knew he wanted to be.

[break][break] plus, he'd been meaning to visit anyway.

[break][break] sure enough, he appears and it's by sheer luck that there aren't that many gym challenges that day and he's able to put his name onto the list. he is willing to wait a few hours — which, really, isn't a burden considering it gave him time to come up with a proper game plan — and then his name is called to enter.

The world rarely waits, and thus after her time spent in Sootopolis it was back to work on her property in Mossdeep: pokemon needed fed, appointments scheduled, training to keep in fighting form; and of course, playtime.

Her cheeks rosy from the cold, and eyes bright with mirth as she watches her Alolan Vulpix prance within the snow, chasing after a pair of Yamper, a staticky click from her walkie-talkie draws Georgette's attention. Pulling out the device, she murmurs absently into it, receiving the reply of "Michail Volkov's challenge is due." Humming softly, Georgette gives an affirmative and turns to the League-sanctioned field covered in snow that serves as her battleground.

As she nears, Georgette lifts her hand in greeting. Couched in a heavy Kalosian accent she calls brightly, "Bonjour, Michail, and welcome to the Mossdeep Gym! You are signed up for a two-versus-two single battle?" Her head cocks to the side once she's finished speaking.

blankets upon blankets of snow stretch out before him. such sights are often associated with that of softer ideals — that of romance, that of love. however, what some do not realize is that such a view is not to be trifled with.

[break][break] winter may seem beautiful but in actuality brings a cruelty like no other. ice and frost are unforgiving in it's blight, one that jayden is more than well aware of as he steps through the snow to greet the mossdeep gym leader, his shoes crushing across dead leaves.

[break][break] "yes," he greets with a nod. his shiny eevee however bounds ahead of him, not at all imprisoned by the same grief that encases his trainer. alako rushes forward in bounds and leaps after the gym leader's vulpix, eager to join in on the play. "thank you for the time. it's an honor." he offers his hand out for a handshake.

Georgette smiles brightly, her expression warm as she offers her hand in turn; her grip as firm as it is brief, her hands settle on her hips as she nods. "It is a pleasure to have you here." She replies, her words freezing on the air.

A quick glance at the pokemon released causes her smile to widen, a low hum sounding from the woman. "Bonjour, you," she coos softly to the Eevee. The Alolan vulpix, Hexe, takes off in a game of tag, the pokemon skittering back and forth across the field. "You are going to wear them out," Georgette scolds her pokemon softly, though does not make an attempt to retrieve her Vulpix just yet. Instead, her hand goes to her hip and a Froslass is released.

She gives a soft hum of greeting Alouette, her hands lifting to lightly brush a bit of snow off the Froslass's head as she smiles. Once satisfied, she looks once more to Jayden to ask, "Are you ready to begin, Michail?"

Georgette Bluebottle is a lovely, sprightly thing; her cheeriness reminds jayden of mint frost , but her firm handshake of GABRIEL BLACK . a young woman not to be trifled with, it seems.

[break][break] his gaze follows the pokemon as they engage in a bought of play, and jayden sighs in the same moment that the gym leader chides her own. "alako," he says, though it isn't an order to stop. it is merely a warning. the eevee should know better than to tire himself out, but perhaps a little bit of running would get his blood flowing.

[break][break] with a nod towards her, he agrees. "yes, let us begin."

[break][break] he whistles under his breath this time, and the cheery expression on the young eevee's face vanishes in a heartbeat, ears perking up. he stops chasing his newfound friend, and bounds over to jayden. the man also releases a pokeball, light forming around the shape of a weavile. as soon as vila appears, her PRESSURE pushes outward, to whoever is near. alako, who is used to it, jumps forward and lashes his tail in the air with a SWIFT attack.

Georgette gives a sharp nod, her gaze casting askance to her Vulpix who quickly evacuates the field in a puff of ice and snow; the little fox was much more suited to contests than anything resembling labour.

A Glaceon follows the Froslass onto the field, the pair glancing to one another before readying themselves for battle. The Swift attack passes through Froslass, a hellish cackle sounding from the frozen maiden "Draining Kiss," Georgette directs her Froslass; Alouette darts forwards to clamp down onto Weavile's shoulder, sapping the pokemon's strength to add to her own.

Meanwhile Saint the Glaceon stamps one foot upon the ground before disappearing into the snow with Dig.

nothing but ice crystals are left in the wake, as Georgette Bluebottle's vulpix disappears. alako is sad to see his playmate gone, but as he bounds over to the center stage, is eager to see what battle awaits him.

[break][break] his weavile lets out a screech of pain as the DRAINING KISS sinks into her shoulder. her eyes glow read as she seeks REVENGE — her arm twisting up to the claw at the other pokemon with a fist full of METAL.

[break][break] alako looks around for the other pokemon, brow furrowing cutely in confusion when he founds no one. a SUBSTITUTE pops out beside him to keep him company as he sniffs in the ground to look for the missing glaceon.

The Froslass reels from the Revenge attack, a loud crack filling the air where the Weavile's claws connect with the shell of her jaw. A crackling hiss fills the air, malevolence radiating from Alouette's eyes as the air shimmers violet - without warning flames burst into existence and the Froslass uses Will-o-Wisp in retaliation against Weavile.

Meanwhile, the faint cracking of ice and the sound of moving snow fills the air, signalling the return of Georgette's Glaceon. A faint crack in the surface of the snow proceeds Saint's eruption from the underground. Narrowly, she misses Alako and slams into the Substitute, the Glaceon's claws rending into the doll and leaving behind imprints of ice.

Her lungs heaving with annoyance, the Glaceon skids to a halt near Froslass where she bares her teeth at the nearby Weavile.

small embers burst against her skin as she takes damage from the will-o-wisp, and is BURNED. she snarls with distaste, the growl growing low in her throat. failure was not an option — and she would accept it, in any form, from anyone.

[break][break] she lets out an ear-splitting SCREECH, which is followed by a DARK PULSE. the dark rings shoot out towards the FROSSLASS in frenzied energy.

[break][break] jayden's eyes narrow. "vila." a warning.

[break][break] meanwhile, alako has his hand's full. he squeaks in surprise as the glaceon erupts from the ground and does quick work with his copy. "alako, take advantage!" jayden's voice calls sharp through the air, and while he does start with surprise, the eevee nods. now wasn't the time to be scared. a HELPING HAND bursts from his side, to aid vila.

Froslass flinches at the Screech, the ghostly maiden thrown momentarily off balance by the proceeding Dark Pulse; in retaliation she darts forwards, snapping her maw down onto The Weavile's shoulder with a Draining Kiss.

Off to the side Georgette's brow furrows at the dark pokemon's lack of composure. Her gaze casting to Jayden, she warns, "Control her. This is a gym battle, not a street brawl!"

Icy blue eyes widening, Glaceon skids across the snow-covered ground as she lands. She is off like a shot, bounding across the way to Froslass's side, the ghost appearing decidedly worse for wear from the recent attacks. Coming to a stop, she slams a paw down, creating a Barrier from snow; the snow rises up and freezes, forming into a half-circle to protect the two pokemon and grant them a brief respite in the heat of the battle.

in the heat of battle, it's easy to get lost. Georgette Bluebottle's words break a warning, and jayden has no choice to abide.

[break][break] "my apologies - " he says to her, though his tone does little to change. once again, it is more evidence against the league. "vila — you heard her. caution."

[break][break] the weavile spins on a heel, turning to meet her trainer's gaze. the second it meets jayden's - steady, sure, and full of hidden meeting - the heat from them disappears. it's a perfect opportunity for the draining kiss to sink down on her shoulder.

[break][break] the sharp claw pokemon lets out a howl of pain. PRESSURE exerts outwards, as the weavile turns on a heel in retaliation. this time, however, it isn't as frenzied as before. a METAL CLAW swipes through their air in an attempt to catch the froslass.

[break][break] but her partner is quicker — the sudden barrier lifts from the ground and her steely claw only catches upon ice and snow. jayden's whistles sharp, calling for alako. "swift!"

[break][break] stars peal out from the small pokemon's maw, crashing into the snowy barrier.
