Just like everything else, it all looked so different.[break][break]

Even if they were just pathways, they looked so different. Hazel hues scoured the terrain before him, a pensive spark within either of them upon noting the various discrepancies betwixt vision and memory. It hadn’t mattered whether they were big differences, and it hadn’t mattered whether they were smaller differences.[break][break]

”Maybe I should’ve moved back into Rustboro, instead~...” he chuckled to himself within a soft, absentminded manner, straying a hand to gently rub against the neck of a particular, little lizard as she draped herself so comfortably over his shoulders. He gained a quiet hiss in content. He turned his head towards her, slightly, with a smile. ”Mauville’s good enough, though. …It’s more ‘me’ anyways, don’t you think~?”

He was taken aback for a moment as the normally lax lizard accompanying him gave a significantly more hostile, disdainful hiss.[break][break]

It provided enough whiplash for him to almost assume that it was in response to none other than his idle musings— but as he trailed her gaze across the clearing, the Stone blinked in recognition prior to breathing a softly amused sigh of exasperation. Bringing his feet to a gradual ease and cease beneath him, he turned his head in tandem to the little Amaura as he minded his own business.[break][break]

”...I’m sure he doesn’t mean any harm, Meda~...” he chuckled, grinning while running his finger along his companion’s head. A more hearty laugh escaped his lips as she only seemed to slink away in further disgust, narrowing her eyes towards the wild creature all the while.[break][break]

Ah, but that one.[break]
That one absolutely meant some harm.[break][break]

It took a moment for it to settle, but within his next several steps, a sudden bout of fatigue weighed heavily upon his shoulders without even so much as a warning, and it had only been from reflex alone that he’d managed to catch himself before a fall. Nevertheless, the strength from his legs briefly faltered enough to prompt a stumble, and before he could properly realize that he’d been the victim of a Mega Drain off to the side, the only thing he could hear was the loudest hiss yet, courtesy of the self same lizard perched upon him.[break][break]

By the time he’d turned around to assess the source, the Salandit already seemed to have laid down a Toxic upon the passing Pokemon, and before it could react, immediately followed it up with a Venoshock.[break][break]

So, the man found himself staring at an unceremoniously downed fae as he still continued to muster what remnants of composure that he could.[break][break]

”...Y’know what…?” he mused, furrowing his brows and pressing his lips thinly while eying the lizard once more, ”I appreciate it, but, like…I think you could stand to take it down from a hundred to maybe about sixty next time? Preferably lower? Yeah~?”[break][break]

“Turn it down to sixty,” he requested, only for another Toxic to go out just moments after.[break]
He sighed before turning towards the most recent victim.[break][break]

And just like that, his brows rose in surprise, all while a subsequent glint of realization shone within his eyes at the sight of the regal creature before him. The last he remembered, he’d only seen a Pokemon of the present line up close far back within his youth— specifically before he’d left the region the first time.[break][break]

Nostalgia at its best.[break][break]

”Look at you, you beautiful little lady…” he whispered softly, a nervously concerned smile surfacing upon his lips. He eyed the creature for a small while, noting the pain that she seemed to be in with the unseemly and uncalled for greeting his own reptile had cursed her with.[break][break]

With a click of his tongue, he sighed while taking a spare Pokeball and tossing it out towards the drake.[break][break]

”Ahhh, I’m so sorry, lovely~...” he hummed. ”C’mon. The least we can do is get you patched up, now~...”[break][break]
