It's an odd question to be asked by a stranger. But then again, what hadn't been odd lately? The mercenary had not been expecting any kind of disturbances to her daily walks, yet life would deem it she take this chance... and well, they did say fishing is a calming sport. Might as well give it a go.

"Sure, why not? Though I'm pretty new to this," Yvaine admits shortly, steering clear from the middle of the road to join the man in his hobby.

introducing people to the art of fishing is something he always looks forward to. so much so that his expression lightens with a smile, perhaps unbecoming of his status as rocket's underboss.[break][break]

"you want to stick bait onto the hook then toss it out into the water."[break][break]

just as he's explaining, something bites at his line so he reels it in to reveal a lanturn. being on land must confuse it enough to still it into a pokeball.

She notes the man's smile as she takes the fishing rod and, after he gives her a smooth 101 of fishing, takes a a seat beside him. Not necessarily the best position, but it was supposed to be an activity of leisure, so she could at least try. "Doesn't seem too hard..." she mutters softly, casting her line into the water.

When the man lands a Lanturn and subsequently catches it, the red-head nods in approval. "Nice catch! Wonder what my first catch of the day- and my life will be." she smiles, surprisingly carefree. Moments after her line too is pulled taut, and after a bit of struggling she unceremoniously lands an old shoe, followed by an angry Prinplup surfacing to glare at her. She likes the fire in its eyes as it demands the shoe back, so she unhooks it and returns it to the Prinplup, throwing a pokéball after it before it can disappear under the watery surface again.

there's a smile on his lips as he pockets the pokeball, keen on meeting the lanturn properly later.[break][break]

"whatever it is, i'm looking forward to it. any catch is a good catch."[break][break]

this time, nothing bites at his line but a wailmer does float to the surface. it opens its mouth, clearly asking for food. theo obliges and tosses it some bait, effectively befriending it.

"I suppose truer words have never been spoken," she nodded. "Let's just hope it isn't another shoe, or I might have to start rethinking my career choices." There was a hearty laugh following her own joke as she checked her line for any kinks, reattached new bait and threw her line back into the water. In the distance a Vikavolt whirred back and forth before disappearing behind the treeline.

She wondered whether the fishing gods would look upon her favorably this time around; and who knew, maybe she'd find something she didn't know she needed within the blue depths. After all, surprise meetings such as these always hid the most interesting twists.
